Chapter 2

Back at the campsite, Jack, Odeda, and Sam took their places at the wooden table and ate with the rest of the small group.  Some of the others were from the same class as Odeda and Sam, and some were from different classes, but had the same project.  Jack took his place under a tree and gawked at Odeda from afar.  He watched the way she moved to pick up a cup, fast and decisive.  He watched the way she place her hot dog and chips on her plate, separated so that she could put catch-up on her hot dog without getting her chips covered in it.  His thoughts were interrupted when two of his friends joined him under the tree.
Somebodys sprung and from the looks of it, wants to devour her wholehahaha.
Yeah man, why not just make your move on her?  Youve had your eye on her for the longest.
The boys that sat next to Jack were Martin and Robert.  The three of them had been inseparable since they met in the fifth grade.  Martin was the brain of the bunch.  He could spit out math equations and finish theories in a flash; he was even the Valid Victorian when they all graduated.  Then he got to college and everything changed.  He stopped studying, stopped caring about school, and stopped caring what his parent expected of him.  He was short with blue eyes and black hair.  Robert was just a character.  He was the funny boy in the group, always seemed to see the world in a good way, but always seemed to get into trouble.  Robert got into some trouble with the law for stealing and FUBU shirt when he was 12 years old and since then, thought stealing was a form of exercise.  Running from the cops helped him improve his running time.  He had brown hair and jet black eyes.  All the girls wanted to be with him.  He was your typical Bad boy and never let a friend down.
I told you guys.  Im just buying my time.
Oh dont give me that, you have wanted that girl forever.  We see you looking at her, craving her like some wild hungry wolf.  You want nothing more that to have her be your mate.  Robert began to howl like a wolf and Jack jumped on him.  The two rolled in the leaves and twigs laughing and spilling their food.  Martin just sat and ate.  He was also the hungry on in the group.  Nothing disturbed his meals.
Alright people, lets set up camp and select our tent buddies.  Two is the minimum and three is the maximum.
Hey Odeda, you wanna be my tent buddy hehe?
Go back to the rock you crawled from under Jack.
Oh baby dont be that way, you know you love me.
YOU SLIME COVERD TOAD!
Martin and Robert just laughed.  The three boys set up their tent and soon were out collecting firewood.  Odeda and Sam set up their tent and went down to the river to get some water for boiling.  They took two flashlights, two buckets and their backpacks.  They decided to take a bit of a hike while they went for water.  Sam was slow walking in the wood and Odeda was ahead of her by ten steps.
Odeda?
What?
Do you feel that?
Do I feel what?
Like your body is warmer than it should be?  Odeda stopped in her tracks.  Like you cant breath?  Like you are going to pass out?  Odeda turned and look at Sam.  She approached her slowly.
Soyou did feel it?
Yeah I felt it and I didnt like it.
What do you think it was?
I dont know, but I feel like we are not alone.
You would be right there girls.  Odeda and Sam jumped as they pointed their flashlights at Jack and Robert who were coming back from getting firewood.  The boys grinned as they completed their accomplishment.  Odeda growled and walked off.  Jack handed Robert what little wood he had collected and took off after Odeda.  Sam stepped in front of him.
You hurt her Jack and Ill make you pay.
I think you should worry about her hurting me.  He stepped aside and continued his mission after Odeda.  Sam looked back at Robert.
You need some help with that wood there?
Yeah sure, but you think we should leave those two alone?
They will be fine, Odeda knows how to take care of herself.
I know, that is why I dont want to leave him alone with her.  They both laughed and headed back for camp.  Sam looked behind her as she though she heard whispering in the treetops.
What is it? asked Robert.
Nothing.  I thought I heard something.  It was probably just those two at each others throats.
