Chapter 18

Odeda sat outside the castle walls for the first time since she had been taken to Sesshomarus castle.  She loved looking at the stars and she loved the feel of the cool breeze that passed by every so often.  Odeda thought about her powers and wondered if she could summon them whenever she wanted, or if she had to get worked up first.  She decided to give it a go and stood.  She made sure that no one was around and focused on drawing up her energy from within.  The wind around her changed and blew outward, away from her feet.  She stretched out her hands and could feel her power growing, the scars returned around her arms and wrists and she opened her eyes.  They beamed a dark pink light and she looked down at herself.  She liked this power and she wanted to use it again on anything and everything.  She wanted to go on a rampage and see what her limit was, but morals held her back.  She remembered that she was the guardian of the Lewej and that meant that she had a responsibility.
Sesshomaru kept watch from above in a nearby tree; he was enjoying watching her practice.  He thought about the way he had held her before and how she remained so strong, and was able to control her emotions and use them to attack him.  She was defiantly worthy of her name.  She had strength, flexibility, and stamina.  All the times she got back up after being torn down by all that she endured, she was ready for the battle with Acro.  Sesshomaru suddenly felt as though someone was watching him and looked down.  He met gazes with Odeda who seemed to be able to locate his aura through her power.  She stared at him and watched as his long flowing hair blew in the cool breeze.  His yellow eyes like that of a wild, untamed animal.  What the two of them had yet to sense was a beast climbing the walls of the castle on a far side, and moving swiftly toward them.  It leapt over towers and walked silent as a cat along the flat, stoned, walk ways.
Do you always stay up there?
Only when I am thinking.
That must not be often then.
What do you mean by that?
Well since I have been here, you have been on the ground, not up in a tree like some cat. Sesshomaru smiled, barley, and then leapt from the tree down to the ground.  He reached out and tilted her head, right and left.
Huh.
What? What is it? She put her hands up to her cheeks and realized that the scars that were on her arms were also on her face, two lines, just like Sesshomarus.  She blushed slightly and turned to walk away.  Just as Sesshomaru reached out to grab her, Odeda got a rush of energy through her body.
Get here soon, pleasehurry. A voice cried out.  Odeda was pushed back a bit as she felt the voice quiet down.
What did you see? Sesshomaru was close to her.
II think I heard Sam.  She is being heldagainst her will and waiting for someone.
Could you since where the energy was coming from? Odeda shook her head no, but closed her eyes and focused.  It was Sam all right, she could feel the pulse, and it was stronger than ever.  She grinned as she enjoyed being in the new and improved body of hers.  She opened her eyes when she was sure where it was coming from.  Sesshomaru looked up and saw that she was pointing in the same direction that Jyaken had mentioned earlier when the spirit that attacked them left.
I have to help her. Odeda started to walk away, but Sesshomaru put out his arm in front of her.  Something was not right and he sensed it in the air.
What is it? She looked around frantically, but did not see, or sense anything.  Sesshomaru narrowed his eyes to mere slits.
Wolf. He listened for any movement, but heard none.  Suddenly a large beast jumped from atop the castle, hitting Sesshomaru and shaking him up a bit.  Odeda tried to use her power, but the demon thwarted every attack and threw his big heavy paw at her.  Odeda was knocked to the ground and out.  The demons stood over her and watched as her scars began to fade.  The demon let out a ghastly howl, then swooped up Odeda.  He walked back over to Sesshomaru who lay unconscious.  The demon bent over and sniffed his body.  Sesshomaru surprised him with poisonous claws to the shoulder of the wolf demon.  Angered and outmatched in battle, the demon retreated with Odeda on his shoulder.  Sesshomaru quickly followed after him, trying to get in a few good hits.  He was thwarted when another demon imposed on the battle.  Hailahk took Sesshomaru down to the ground and kept him busy while Acro, disappeared into the night with Odeda.
