Hailahk tried her best to get back to the lair with Sam, but Hiei and Kurama were right on her tail. She had to do something and fast. Hiei was shouting obscenities at Hailahk from behind as he finished wiping away the rest of the drool she spit on him. Kurama just wanted to get to Sam. He could see that Hailahk had placed some type of spell on Sam; fore he saw some type of writing on her forehead.
�Sam! Wake up and try to break the spell.� He could see that the spell had not taken its full effect. Kurama reached behind him and tried to use a vine whip attack, but Hailahk just dogged them again and again. Hiei was nowhere near getting close enough to be able to take a chunk out of Hailahk. Over and over again, she spit back her hot, stinging drool. Kurama dogged it with ease, but Hiei was having a pretty hard time. The drool she spit at him earlier was begging to have a strange effect on him. He began to get dizzy and soon fell further behind Kurama. When Kurama saw this he used his rose whip and grabbed him by the arm, just before he hit the electricity.
�Hiei you alright?�
�I don�t know if I will make it, I feel so weak.�
�Hold on, Hiei.� Kurama held his friend under his arm and the two followed Hailahk through the portal. Kurama saw that Sam was fully awake; apparently the spell she had tried to put on her was not strong enough to surpass her power. Kurama gave her a wink and looked after Hiei, while keeping a good distance to Hailahk, who now seemed to forget that they were behind her.
She came out of the portal and landed in a dark and musty dungeon. She threw Sam into a cage, and then proceeded up some stairs. After she was sure Hailahk was gone, Sam opened her eyes and sat up. She looked around and held her breath at the horrid smell. There was nothing but rotting bones and skeletons around her. She tried to look for a key but she found none. She looked at the cage she was in and nearly threw up as she looked to the left of her and saw the rotting corpse of what once looked like a man.
�Hurry Kurama and Hiei.� She said softly. Sam pulled her knees to her chest and began to rock back and forth
