WWW Based Learning Environment

                            I. Technology can provide opportunities for students with all learning abilities and styles.
  1. There should be peer coaching or tutoring.
  2. Make use of learning contracts.
    1. Students should become responsible for their own learning.
    2. Contracts should be use to give students choices.
  3. There are many technology tools which could assist students.
    1. Word processors contain spell checks and grammar checks.
    2. There are electronic devices to aid the vision impaired.
      1. Computer programs which read text.
      2. Computers can enlarge text to be more easily seen.
    3. There are also technologies to help physically handicapped students.
      1. Motorized and computerized wheel chairs.
      2. Programs are available to type as someone speaks.
      3. Programs can speak or type for someone who can not talk
                            II. Ways students can demonstrate learning
  1. Students can take online quizzes.
  2. Students can produce electronic portfolios.
  3. Participate in electronic bulletin board activities.
  4. Teachers can still make direct observations.
  5. Cameras can be use to show what students are doing.
  6. Students can produce projects.
    1. HyperStudio or PowerPoint
    2. Use the Internet to do real world research.
    3. Students can create web pages.
    4. Students can use programs like Inspiration to create concept maps.
                            III. Technology can make the students location unimportant.
  1. The Internet would allow students to access information from school.
  2. The Internet could allow students to access information from libraries.
  3. The Internet could allow students to access information form their homes.
                            IV. Technology will allow for many kinds of interactivity.
  1. Students would be able to use E-mail to gather information from experts.
  2. Students could complete web based scavenger hunts.
  3. Students could use interactive CD-ROMs.
  4. Students could get help with their homework on the Internet.
  5. There could classroom Web pages.
    1. There would be an area to show off the students work.
    2. There could be a place for the teacher to post a syllabus, useful links, and even a glossary.
                            V. Time
  1. Time can be extended outside of school day.
  2. Use electronic calendar to supply due dates.
                            VI. The socio-economic status will effect availability of technology.
  1. The state or local school district would have to help some students acquire technology.
