SILENT HILL 2 Kill Eddie Easily FAQ v1.0 By: Kunou_sama http://www.geocities.com/kunou_sama September 11th, 2003 Intro: This FAQ will help you utilize a game AI "bug" during the second Eddie battle within Silent Hill 2. You should be able to beat the first Eddie part easily, using the Great Knife or Hunting Rifle. However, some people (maybe?) have had some problems defeating Eddie without getting hit alot. This FAQ will explain a bug that I, kunou_sama have discovered by playing through Silent Hill 2 several times. Whether or not it works for you (in Hard mode at least, I have not tried it there yet) is questionable, but you should at least give it a try and see if it works for you. The Battle: As you may or may not know, the second battle with Eddie takes place within a meat locker. Thus, there are numerous beef bodies within the chamber. This bug that I have discovered utilizes the bodies to their fullest potential. Here is how it works: (0) After defeating Eddie for the first time, you should equip the shotgun and make sure it is full. (1) When the cinema ends, Eddie should be about 4 feet in front of you, most likely getting ready to shoot you with his revolver. (2) Using R2 to go into "Battle Stance", what you do at the very beginning of the fight is strafe ONE STEP to the right, effectively hiding the RIGHT HALF of James' body. (3) Eddie should now have already put down the gun, and started charging at you. At this point, you can blast Eddie once in the stomach with the shotgun. (4) What happens at this point is what the "AI glitch" is: Eddie will try to punch you with his LEFT hand, since he has the revolver in his right. But the meat will block the punch as the your shotgun recoils! You will know that you were not hit by the punch if the controller did not shake (The Dual-Shock controller). (5) Blast Eddie again for trying to punch you. This will cause Eddie to try to punch you again! So shot him again. Repeat until dead: on Normal, where I tested this several times, Eddie should die before the shotgun runs out of its initial 6 shells (due to the proximity of the shotgun blasts). QUICK DIAGRAM to help illustrate: __ /ED\ ED = Eddie \__/ ME = Meat __ JA = James /ME\ __\__/ /JA\ \__/ Kinda like that. The important thing is to not go completely behind it; you want Eddie to try to punch you after shooting so you can blast him again. James should be poking out enough that he can hit Eddie with the shotgun, which comes out from the center of James. At this range, you should be close enough that Eddie won't attempt shooting back. That pretty much wraps it up. I played through the game 3 times on normal and found this out on the second run-through. Then I tested it two times after that to see if it worked consistantly. It seems to work for me, and the conditions aren't difficult either. abayo kunou_sama
