/Guilty Conscience/
/Chapter 15/
Matt stepped up Murrys front steps, glancing into the front window quickly, before tentatively opening her front door, and stepping inside. It was quiet, no tv was on, no movement from upstairs, nothing but the hum of the refridgerator in the next room. He started up the stairs slowly, looking around. It wasnt dark in her house, but no lights were on, so only the light from the windows lit up the stairs. He continued, walking over to Murrys room and knocking on the door.
"Murry!" He called, knocking harder on the door. He glanced down the hall, the bathroom door was open, so she wasnt in there. He knocked again on the door and opened it, looking inside. She had told him to come in himself... Where was she?
Murry peeked out from under the comforter she had wrapped herself in, and pulled it off her head when he saw her.
"Hey, what are you doing? Why didnt you answer me?" He asked, walking over to her and sitting on the bed.
Shoving something under her pillow, she sat up and shrugged, sniffling a little bit. "I was asleep." She lied, watching him nod. "You didnt hear, did you?"
"Hear what?" Matt raised both eyebrows.
"About Joey?" Murry felt her stomach turn. Matt shook his head and Murry took a deep breath, and explained about the night before. "We were on our way home, and these cops saw us coming out of the park, and they stopped us, and I think they smelt the weed, well they checked us, and I had left my weed in Joeys jacket pocket, and they found it on him, and I think hes still down at the station, they called my parents last night and they came and brought me home, I didnt have anything on me. Joey was put in the jail when I left, I think they were keeping him over night, hes gonna hate me."
"Its not your fault they caught you." Matt shrugged. "He'll get over it. He'll understand."
"He got ARRESTED, and I could have told them it was mine... but I didnt." Murry sighed.
"Possesion is like, 9/10ths of the law or something. Would they believe you? They would think you were trying to cover for him, and both of you would probably get in trouble. At least its only one of you. You owe him though, Murry. Big time." Matt watched her shake her head. Her ungelled short hair was sticking up everywhere, and her face was red. She sniffled again and he frowned. "You got a cold?"
"Uh, I think so." Murry lied, feeling absolutely fine, besides the whole Joey thing.
"Aight..." Matt shrugged. "So lets talk business. I got people to see, drugs to do, places to be." He grinned at her.
"Okay," Murry threw back the blankets, and threw her legs over the bed. She was wearing boxers and a plain, long black teeshirt. He watched her walk across the room to her bureau, and open the bottom drawer, unwrapping a bandana and reveiling a small orange pill bottle. Vicadin. "Four?" She asked, emptying four pills into the palm of her hand.
"Yep." He nodded. She walked over to him, and held her hand out, placing them in his hand. He looked at them, nodded and put them in his pocket, pulling out his wallet as he did so. "How much?"
"Uh... 60." Murry shrugged. "You get a discount," She grinned.
"Aight," He pulled three twenties out of his wallet and handed them to her. Counting them quickly, she grinned and walked back over to the bureau, kneeling in front of it and wrapping the pill bottle back in the bandana and shoving it under a pair of pants, closing the drawer and placing the 60 dollars on the top of her bureau. "So you dont know whats going to happen with Joey?" He asked.
"No. Will you call his house? Or something? And talk to his mom?" Murry asked, sitting on the bed, crossing her legs and holding onto the bottom of her teeshirt. "I'd do it, but she probably hates me, she probably knows it was mine."
"Yeah, Ill go over there next, on my way home. Hey, are you going to the park tonight?" Matt raised an eyebrow.
"I dont know, I think Im just gonna, chill out here or something. Maybe call Kim. I think I need to, take a break from the park." She shrugged.
"You should come down..." Matt urged. "Im goin down there, around like, 11?"
"Yeah." She shrugged. "Maybe I'll stop by or something. I dont know yet."
"You should. I'll let you know what happened with Joey," He added, knowing that was enough to get her down to the park tonight.
"Okay, maybe." She nodded. "Im gonna um, go back to bed now though, alright?"
"Yep. Thats fine, I gotta go make some phone calls anyway. See you tonight?" He stood up and patted her shoulder, when she nodded. "Aight, thanks girl. See ya later."
"Bye," She replied, as he grinned at her and left. When she heard the front door downstairs close, she laid down on the bed, lifting up the pillow and pulling out the small baggy of white powder and a small peice of metal she used to lines off of. She stared down at the drugs, and sighed. This was her life? This was what she let her best friend get arrested for?

"Hey Murry," Denise opened her front door and let Murry step in. "Kims in the bathroom, she'll be out in a minute."
"Thanks." Murry nodded, and followed Denise into the livingroom, surprised at who she saw sitting on the couch, grinning at her. "Rob?!" She smiled, one of the first times all day, and held a hand out to him. He shook her hand and grinned. "What are you doing here?"
"Fucking Denise." Murry turned around as she heard Kim speak from behind her. Murry laughed and shook her head.
"You always get the girl, eh?" Murry winked at Rob, who nodded proudly as Denise rolled her eyes and sat beside him. "So what happened to Kenny?" Murry asked, not that she cared about anything Kenny was doing lately, but...
"He was cheating on me." Denise said, her eyes narrowing. Murry cringed and turned towards the door.
"Alright, lets go before she fucking throws fire balls out of her nose..." Murry whispered to Kim, who laughed and nodded.
"Aight, bye guys. Denise, I think Im stay at Murrys tonight, want me to call you tommorow?" Kim tilted her head to the left.
"Yeah. Not to early." She warned. Kim nodded and turned, Murry waved at her friends, and left the house, Kim following behind her.
"I think Marshalls still at DeShauns," Kim stated. Murry glanced at her as they walked down the street, Kims bag of clothes slung over one shoulder. She tossed her long blonde hair, and looked over at Murry, noticing her friends mood wasnt at its best. "Whats the matter?"
"Nothing, just some stuff that happened last night." Murry sighed. She might as well tell Kim. It wasnt like she wasnt going to find out anyway. "Joey got arrested, I got taken down to the police station, my parents had to come get me, and I dont know what happened with Joey yet."
"Why?" Kim gasped, as they trudged through the dark street together.
"Well, when we were smoking last night? I sort of was wearing Joeys jacket, and accidently left my weed, bowl and lighter in the pocket, so the cops chceked us, and there was nothing on me, but he had all my stuff." She looked down.
"Well, did they believe you that it was yours?" Kim asked.
"Uh," Murry cleared her throat. "Actually, I uh, I didnt tell them it was mine."
"So you just, let him take the blame for it?" Kim frowned. "Murry! Hes going to be so mad."
"I know. Hes gonna hate me... I just, I COULDNT tell them, Kim... I couldnt say anything, and I wanted to apologize to him last night, but they took him away and didnt give me the chance. I hate this, hes never going to forgive me... Never." She sighed.
"Depending on how much trouble he gets in, thats how pissed off he would be, I dont know, I wouldnt forgive you, if it was me." Kim shrugged. "But you've known him longer, and you two were so close..."
"Were," Murry sighed and shook her head. "Were so close. Not anymore. Thats the key word. I wish I had taken responsibility for it, I really do."
"He always said, drugs were going to get you in trouble one day, and now, its like, your drugs got him in trouble." Kim thought out loud. "Isnt that weird? Its just ironic, how he always tried to get you to stop, because he didnt want anything like hes going through now, to happen to you."
"Yeah." Murry exhaled loudly. "I feel like shit."
"Dont worry, Im sure he will be okay." Kim assured her friend, looking at the ground. "Where are we going?"
"Well, its almost, 10:30, how about, Mcdonalds, and then, to see Matt at the park, he is gonna let me know what happened with Joey, I have to meet him there at 11."
"Yeah, Mcdonalds sounds good. Im hungry. Denise has like, no food at her house," Kim laughed and Murry nodded, not cracking a smile.
"I know." Murry said quietly.

"Wheres the rest of my money?" Ryan glared at Matt, who shook his head and stepped back slowly. "Where the fuck, is the rest of my money?"
"Well okay. Heres how it is." Matt explained, nervously, clearing his throat. "I got 3 pills from Murry today, for 100 dollars. The 100 dollars you gave me, to give to her." Matt said quickly.
"The pills are 20 bucks a peice... And I wanted 5... Where the fuck is the rest f my money? Shes overpricing them, and I want my fucking money, back, now." Ryan growled.
"Well listen, man, dont get mad at me..." Matt said quickly. "She has the money, she has the money on her and shes coming here at 11, thats in 10 minutes, okay just wait for her to get here, and ask her." He cringed as Ryan grabbed the collar of his shirt and pulled him towards him. "Man, listen," He pleaded. "Dont kill the messenger. Wait and talk to her... Then you can kill whoever you want, I promise."
"She better fucking be here." Ryan pushed Matt backwards, letting go of his shirt, and looking towards the park trail. "This is the last fucking time she screws me over. She still owes me money. Thats IT."
"Uh, huh," Matt cleared his throat, and stared nervously at Ryan, and two of his friends behind him. Two of Ryans very large, friends. "She'll be here, I swear." He said, praying that Murry showed up to find out about Joey.
