/Guilty Conscience/

/Chapter 9/

"Marshall Mathers!" Marshall looked up, woken out of his sleep by his mothers voice. He looked up groggily, briefly thinking about how his stomach seemed to be turning upside down, and his head was pounding. He looked up, squinting through the light at his mother, standing in the doorway. "Marshall Bruce! What is she doing here?! Why isnt she wearing a shirt?!"

He looked down at Kim, and his mouth dropped open. She was laying on her back, and you could CLEARLY see that she had no shirt on. He quickly pulled the sheet up over her chest and looked down at himself, making sure he was completely covered, and then at his mother.

"Well?! Did I not tell you, do not bring your girlfriends home with you?!" She yelled, and Kim started to stir, and looked up as Marshall sat up in bed next to her, open mouthed, not knowing what to say in answer to his mothers question. Kim immediatly sat up, clutching the sheet to her chest as she did.

"What the fuck are you waiting for?" Marshalls mother bellowed. "I want both of you out, NOW!" She slammed the door and he sighed, looking at the ceiling.

"Yeah, Murry didnt lock the door when she left... did she?" He shook his head and stood up, reaching for his boxers and jeans from yesterday.

"Uhhh," Kims eyes widened as she remembered last night and she blushed a dark red, grabbing for her clothes in a hurry. "Shit, Marsh, Im scared..."

"Of what?" He asked slowly, pulling his pants on and looking around for his shirt.

"Your mom," She hissed, pulling her shirt over her head and turning to look at him as she pulled her pants on. "Shes gonna hate me now."

"Not that big of a deal, whatever." Marshall shrugged. "You ready?"

"I guess?" She said, frowning.

"C'mon, lets go." He said, walking forward, head down, towards the door. "Like this isnt bad enough, Im hungover too." She nodded and followed him downstairs, she felt the hungover part.

"Hey guys," Murry said, hopping up onto Denauns front steps, where Matt, Denaun, Joey and DeShaun were seated, talking and joking around.

"Hey," They all said at about the same time, as she leaned against the stone railing.

"Whered you run off to last night?" DeShaun asked, raising an eyebrow at Murry.

"Um, no where? I went home..." Murry shrugged.

"Why?" Denaun asked, pretending to be hurt. "Did my party sucked?"

"Yeah, kuz you missed the best part. Fuckin, Matt was so drunk, he threw up all over himself and fell off the couch while he was trying to sleep!" DeShaun laughed and punched Matt in the shoulder playfully, as Matt rolled his eyes and put his head in his arms.

"Im never gonna live that down?" He mumbled, as DeShaun patted him on the back reassuringly.

"Sure you will, man," He said, "As soon as you do something even dumber."

The guys laughed, and Murry smiled, shaking her head and looking around. She had noticed Marshall wasnt here. "Marsh working?" She asked, looking mostly at DeShaun, because he would know better, he did work with him, and was his best friend.

"I dont know, I havent talked to him since last night, when you all left us." DeShaun sighed. "Probably. Its Sunday, he usually works like, 10-2 on Sundays, means if he is working hes off in like a half hour."

"Yeah." Murry said, nodding. Marshall worked at Gilberts, with DeShaun. Murry had worked there for a brief time, 2 months at the most, and then got fired. She never got another job, she just sold drugs now.

"Anything up for tonight?" Matt asked, looking around.

"Yeah, I have left over beer," Denaun said, nodding. "Surprisingly, but I do. So, we could have another party if ya'll feel like it. Or we could just not."

"Yeah... We can party tonight!" DeShaun said, grinning. "We should fucking party like this everynight, Matt Ill bring you a change of clothes and a bucket!"

"SHUT UP!" Matt yelled exasperatedly, as DeShaun laughed at him.

"What time?" Murry asked, absent mindedly, ignoring DeShaun and Matt as they started argueing about whether or not DeShaun was mean, or whether or not Matt can take a joke.

"I dont know, whenever. 8 or something?" Denaun shrugged.

Murry nodded and looked around. She glanced at Joey, sitting in the corner picking at his shoelace, and raised an eyebrow. "Your awfully quiet today..." She observed, as he looked up.

"Me?" He asked.

"Well you KNOW I aint talkin to them," She pointed at DeShaun, who was now standing, and Matt who was yelling at him. DeShaun kicked Matt and Matt jumped to his feet and pushed DeShaun backwards off the steps.

"Haha, yeah." Joey shook his head. "I dont know, Just tired, I guess."

"Oh, okay." She grinned as she watched Matt and DeShaun chase each other around, yelling obscene words as old ladies stared. DeShaun finally grabbed Matt by the collar of his shirt and slammed him up against the side of Denauns house.

"It was just a JOKE, theres no reason to fucking start hitting me, man!" He said through gritted teeth.

"AIght, Ima get going." Murry said, watching the two fight. "See ya'll tonight or something."

"Bye," Joey waved his hand, and Denaun smiled at her. She smiled back and descended the stairs, walking over to DeShaun and Matt.

"Guys, Im leaving." She said, patting them each on the shoulder and walking away.

"See ya!" DeShaun called after her.

"Bye!" Matt said, too.

"Shut UP!" DeShaun said, eyes narrowed, glaring at Matt.

--------

Marshall sighed and sat down on the bench at the bus stop, reaching up to rub his eyes. What a motherfucking day. Hes hungover as fuck, had to work at 10, while he was still hungover, his mother had flipped out and kicked him out of the house because he wasnt supposed to have girls over, and especially not naked ones IN HIS BED. Oops, he thought, grinning although it really, wasnt funny.

Wiping the grin off his face, he looked around, some old people were walking by, cars and trucks were flying down the street, and some kids across the street were standing outside of a pizza place smoking ciggarettes. He scratched the back of his head absentmindedly and wondered what he was doing at a bus stop. Its not like he was in a hurry, or had somewhere to go. He would probably just head over to DeShauns, see if the guys were around, or one of the other guys houses, see what was up tonight.

Maybe he could crash at one of their houses, he thought, watching buses slow down, getting his hopes up, just to gain speed and drive right past. Those fuckers. He sat back and relaxed a little, deciding that being on the edge of his seat was a little bit, well, desperate.

"MARSH!" He jumped at his name being yelled behind him and shook his head, sighing and staring at Murry. She grinned at him and sat beside him, next to him, her back to the street, so she was facing him. He was sitting facing the street. "What up Marsh?"

"Nothing," He sighed. "My Mom kicked me out, again."

She nodded. "Why now?"

"Um...." He shrugged. "Last night, the door was kind of, left unlocked and like, she walked in this morning to me and Kim...."

"Ohhhhh," She frowned, remembering the events of last night quite clearly, and blushed. "Im sorry," She looked down.

"Its okay," He said quietly, looking down also. The silence that followed next was awkward, as they both thought of something to say, to hopefully get the others mind off of thinking of something to say!

"So, you staying with Kim?" Murry asked, putting her hands on the side of the bench behind her and rocking back and forth a little, uneasily.

"No, Kims not staying with her parents, she just goes there to get clothes and change or whatever, but shes staying with Denise for the summer, her parents are fucking crackheads anyways, they hate me." He said, relieved she had brought up something, but a little hesitant, since the subject was Kim. And he knew it reminded her of last night too. "I guess, Ima try and just crash at one of the guys houses. Thats where Im goin to now."

"Well, Its kind of my fault, I didnt lock the door when I left," She looked up at him, squinting out the sunlight.

"Yeah," He looked up and grinned. "I know."

"Yeah..." She figeted nervously. "Well, since its my fault, you can stay at my house if you want. We have like, plenty of room or something? My mom loves you anyways. She wont care, niether will my dad."

"I, uh, dont know," He looked back down and peeled some paint that had been chipping off the bench, not wanting to look at Murry. Things were kind of, weird now. I mean, his girlfriend wanted her, and she was... Just, he felt weird around her. It was hard to explain, but anyone in his position would understand.

He looked up as a bus stopped in front of him and he stood, and started towards the bus. Murry followed him quickly, and threw change into the change collector as she got on it. Marshall walked over and took a seat halfway down the bus, and she sat down next to him. He looked up and then back down quickly.

"No, Marshall look," Murry sighed. How the hell did she say this? "I know things are... weird..."

"Weird doesnt even begin to describe..." Marshall said automatically.

"Yeah, listen I know but, man," She clenched her hands together in fists at her side, tension escaping through her hands as she talked, "I dont want it to change, it shouldnt be like this!"

"Yeah, I know it sucks but-" He shrugged and she shook her head.

"Okay, your like, my best friend, okay? Dont I talk to you about like, everything!?" She asked nudging his leg with her knee.

"Yeah," He grinned. She did tell him EVERYTHING, about her girlfriends even! It was fuckin, sweet. It pays off having a lesbian as your best friend!

"Okay, well remember when we first like, broke up? It was awkward, but like we didnt let our friendship in the way, I dont wanna end up like, I dont know, I just, ugh." She shrugged.

"No, I know what you mean, I dont want that either, its just, still a little weird, I think, I just need like, a day or two, or something." He said quickly.

"Aight." She sighed. "Cant it still be awkward but we go back to the same? Lets just not talk about Kim! We never do that anyways. Plus its not that bad..."

"Okay, whatever," Marshall laughed.

"See, laughing makes it less awkward," She pointed out happily.

"Yes, but bringing it up, such as talking about awkwardness, makes up for the laughing."

"Sorry," She bit the side of her mouth. She looked around the bus, wondering where Marshall was riding the bus to, briefly, and sat back, enjoying the ride while it lasted. Things would hopefully be looking up pretty soon.
