Disfunctional Family

Chapter 4

"So, how was the wedding?" Robert asked. Vanessa and Marshall were both silent, staring at the floor nerovusly, waiting for the other to say something, resembling little children in trouble with the school principle. Robert leaned forward. "Mr. and Mrs. Mathers...?"

"The wedding was beautiful," Vanessa said, sort of dreamily. "I loved it, until," She hesitated and looked at Marshall, who was now looking up at her.

"Until?" Robert questioned. "Problem at the wedding?"

"You might say that..." Marshall took a deep breath.

"Would you mind explaining?" Robert pressed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The Wedding~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The wedding went perfect, flowers and candles everywhere. It was the most beautiful thing that Marshall had ever seen, besides of course, his bride. Vanessa wore a shimmery white dress, long and flowing with viels, attached to a tiarra on the top of her head, that trailed behind her slowly. It had one strap, a lace sleeve on one arm, her other shoulder bare.
The after party was going great for them, and it was time for the first dance as husband and wife. Vanessa had picked the song, "From this moment," By Shania Twain. Marshall protested endlessly, and practically had to be dragged out onto the dancefloor, he hated country music, including this song. He didnt want this to be their song. Why couldnt it be something, cooler? Like, LL Cool J, or something like that? But no, Shania Twain, he was sure people would be throwing things all the while they danced. Oh god, and if this got out to the press, that Eminem danced to SHANIA TWAIN, a country music singer, at his wedding, well, he wouldnt really care. He wouldnt probably think it was hilarious, but whatever. He just wanted something he liked more. But, Vanessa got her way.
"Marshall, c'mon!" She said, taking his hand and leading him out onto the dancefloor as the music started. Reluctantly, he followed, looking back at Proof, who was standing next to his girl, smirking at him. He was gonna kick Proofs ass after this... "Marshall!"
"Huh?" He turned around and looked at her, her beautiful curly hair up in a bun on her head, strands of hair falling around her face. She was so beautiful.
"Dance with me hun, dont talk. Just smile, and look good, thats all that matters," She shook her head and sighed. He grinned and took her right hand in his left, and intertwined their fingers, and put his arm around her waist, pulling her up close to him, and she rested her other hand on his hip. The hand that had each others in it, was hanging loosely at their side, his thumb rubbing against the back of her hand.
From this moment, Life has begun, From this moment, You are the one, Right beside you, Is where I belong, From this moment on,
Vanessa rested her head on his shoulder and smiled, everyone was watching them...Suddenly she felt extremely nervous. That meant, her dad was probably out there somewhere plotting Marshalls death. She laughed quietly, oh well. He would have to go through her to get to Marshall, that was for sure.
"What?" Marshall whispered in her ear. He had heard her laughing, and he wanted to know what was so funny.
"Nothing," She whispered, lifting her head to look at him. He looked so handsome in his tuxedo, he had undone his tie, it was still hanging around his neck though. He looked tired as hell, but happy as ever. She loved him so much. "Just thinking, my dad probably wants you dead right about now."
"I know, hun, thats why I ordered double security for this," He joked, kissing her temple lightly.
She grinned and rested her head against his as the song went on.
From this moment, I have been blessed, I love only, For your happiness, And for your love, Id give my last breath, From this moment on,
"Vanessa?" Marshall whispered after a second.
"Hmm?" She hummed, closing her eyes.
"This song, is so corny," He complained. She almost bursted out laughing, he sounded so serious before, she thought he was going to say something really sweet. He went on complaining, not caring that she was trying so hard not to laugh. "I mean, what the hell, from this moment, I will love you, blah blah, what the fuck is this shit? This is our song. What, from this moment? I loved you before this moment, this cant be our fucking song. Lets make them stop it now. I can get some Tupac on here-"
"No!" She whispered furiously, feeling him pull away from her slightly. "Marshall!" She said through laughter, trying not to be heard over the loud music. "Dont!"
"Jeez, whatever." He pulled her back to him and she buried her face into his shoulder, laughing.
I give my hand to you with all my heart Cant wait to live my life with you Cant wait to start You and I will never be apart My dreams Came true Because of you
Marshall kissed her bare shoulder lightly. She was so delicate, and her skin was so smooth. He loved her so much. He couldnt believe, she was finally his. His wife, forever. Thats just how he wanted it. And he would treat her good to. He didnt want anyone but her, the rest of his life. He cared about her so much...What was wrong with him? This wasnt what he was thinking at his last wedding, he just wanted this party to end, and the honeymoon to start. He still couldnt wait for the honey moon, but it was different. He really loved her.
"I love you," He whispered, kissing her neck and shoulder.
"I love you too Marshall," Vanessa said, wanting to cry. This was so incredibly unbelievable. She had married Marshall, she loved him so much, and things were working out so great. She could die right now, and die happy, feeling like her life was complete. Of course, she wouldnt want to die. She wouldnt get other moments like this with him.
From this moment, as long as I live I will love you I promise you this There is nothing I wouldnt give From this moment on
Vanessa looked at everyone watching them, uncomfortably. Marshall was still kissing her neck and shoulder. She took a deep breath and leaned against him, catching site of Proof, who was grinning at her. She knew he was teasing her about the wedding song, just by the look on his face, he didnt have to say anything. She wanted to reacha hand up and flip him off, but she couldnt do that. She would be flipping everyone off.
"Marshall," She whispered. "Can you do something for me?"
"Anything baby." He said, kissing her cheek, and looking at her.
"Okay, just flip off Proof," She said, grinning evilly at him. Marshall looked over at Proof, and let go of Vanessas hand. She smiled at him, he was really going to do it.
Raising his hand in the air, he stuck up a middle finger, and grinned proudly. Proof seemed to know it was for him because he laughed loudly and started clapping his hands together. Vanessa watched Proof for a minute, and still grinning, looked back at Marshall. He was staring at her, and his hand was down by now. He took her hand in his again, and let their hands drop to their side.
Your the reason I believe in love And your the answer to my prayers from up above All we need is just the two of us My dreams came true Because of you,
They swayed to the slow music, hand in hand, arm around each other. Vanessa grinned up at him,"You really did it."
"Yeah," He nodded, and smiled down at her. "You asked me to."
She laughed. "God, my parents must be thrilled about that one. I can just see the cameras flashing."
He grinned and shook his head. "I dont care."
"I know, thats why I love you." She giggled and leaned up, kissing his mouth lightly, and pulling away after a second. He leaned back down, catching her mouth with his, and kissing her deeper.
From this moment As long as I live I will love you I promise you this There is nothing I wouldnt give
Not even caring if anyone was watching, she kissed him back, tenderly. Who cared if press were everywhere probably taking pictures of them, they would be on the front page of entertainment weekly, who cared if her parents were watching, who cared about anything? Except for Marshall. Caught up in the moment, totally unexpected kiss, and thats how it should always be. Some of the best moments arent planned after all.
He slid his arm tighter around her back and pulled her right up against him, moving his hand back down to find her hand, still resting on his hip. Intertwining their fingers, he stood against her, both their hands holding each others, eyes closed, kissing each other in the dim light.
They werent even dancing anymore, they didnt even care. This was better than dancing, Marshall thought, grinning against her lips. Her hands held onto his tighter, as she leaned into him more, almost forgetting they were in the middle of hundreds of people, that were probably staring at them. But Marshall didnt care. Hell, he was proud to be making out with her! She was fucking, HOT. Anyone who didnt think so could kiss his ass. He loved her.
From this moment I will love you As long as I live From this moment on
The song ended, but they didnt move. They just stood there, hand in hand, kissing each other, oblivious to the fact that a completely new song had start. One that was more upbeat. Always on Time, by Ja Rule, blasted over the speakers, and people started crowding around them, all wanting to dance. Marshall opened one eye, sensing a change in what was going on, and saw people around them, dancing. Some of them were even grinding.
He pulled his mouth away from hers, and kissed her forehead, and then her neck, right under her ear, as she giggled and licked her lips. "We should, grind." Marshall whispered. Vanessa started laughing, and shook her head.
"Think I can grind in this?!" She looked down at her wedding dress and Marshall shrugged.
"Only one way to find out..."
"Marshall!" She laughed and let go of his hands, wrapping her arms around his neck and hugging him. "I love you so much."
"I love you too," He said, returning the hug, and blinking as the veil hit him in the face as she moved. "Still, I think we should grind."
"Oh god," She laughed and looked out over all the people. "Our moms are talking..."
"Oh no, no one warned your mother about what a fucking bitch mine is. I dont even see why she had to be invited," He went on to complain.
"Marshall, shes your mother. She still loves you, in her own, um special way." She cleared her throat. "I wonder what they are talking about..."
"They want us to grind." He said casually. "Cmon, please?!"
She laughed again. She loved him...
"Proof gets to! Look! Oh yeah, they gettin it on over there too. Cmon, you know you wanna grind too!"
"Ok ok, fine!" She surrendered. "But if the dress gets in the way-"
"We can leave and go grind by ourselves, and you dont have to have the dress on for that one..." He licked his lips and she looked at him, raising an eyebrow.
"Dont work yourself out before the honeymoon now..." She said sarcastically. She smiled and shook her head. He could be such a perve sometimes, but she still loved him.
"Aight aight lets go!" He said, positioning himself to grind. She laughed and stepped back.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Hey!" Judy, Vanessas mom, said, seeing Debbie, Marshalls mom, watching them dance, or rather, make out.

"Judy?!" Debbie exclaimed. "How long as it been?!"

"Like, 25 years, oh shit!" Judy said, hugging Debbie. "What are you doing here?!"

"I was invited, I didnt know you still talked to-"

"Me either!"

"Whoa," Judy shook her head. "So Vanessa invited you?"

"Yeah, well I dont think Marshall wanted me here so she probably did."

"Why wouldnt he want you here?" Judy asked.

"Because," Debbie said, expecting Judy to know already about the law suits that were going on.

"Um, wait," Judy said, knowing things were sounding weird.

"How did you know him? I didnt think he ever met you..." Debbie said slowly.

"Yeah, weve met...I mean, jeez. Vanessa brang him home to meet me, I AM her mother."

"Wait, stop." Debbie said, her stomach turning. "Marshalls my son, Vanessas your daughter-"

"What?!" Judy exclaimed. "Hes your son, oh shit, that means that...."

"They are cousins, and just fucking got married." Debbie swore.

"Fuck," Judy looked out at the two on the dancefloor, holding each other and kissing. They looked so happy, so peaceful, so in love, it made her sick. Sick that they were related, cousins. Debbie is Judys ex sister in law. Her brother left them right after Marshall was born and moved out to California, where Judy lived. A few years later, Judy had remarried and Vanessa had moved out to New York.

"What are we gonna do?"

"Well, we have to tell them."

"Duh, but how?" Debbie said slowly.

"Uh, I dont know," Judy watched them as they started grinding to Ja Rule. She couldnt even watch, this was sick... What kind of twisted fairy tale was this?!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Okay okay!" Vanessa said, pushing Marshall away from her as the song started to end. "Thats IT. I cant do this with the dress on..."
"What a shame." Marshall said, putting an arm around her, hopefully this party would end soon, he wanted to get her back to the hotel room-
"Lets go see what our moms are talking about." Vanessa suggested. "I didnt know they knew each other."
Marshall sighed. He didnt want to have to see his mom, but fine,"Okay then." he said, as they made their way through the crowd.
Vanessa stopped in front of their moms, and looked at them. She sensed something was wrong immediatly, and took Marshalls hand, "Whats wrong?"
"Um," Debbie wrinkled her nose. This was sick, how could they tell them that they had just married their cousins?!
"Vanessa," Judy said slowly, putting a hand on her shoulder and gently leading her away from Marshall to stand by her side. Marshall let go of Vanessas hand, waiting for someone to tell them what was going on.
"You guys, have to get divorced, or an annulment, quickly." Debbie said, shaking her head.
"Why? No!" Marshall protested. What the hell was going on?
"You guys, your um," Debbie continued, trying to explain.
"Your cousins," Judy said, finishing Debbies sentence.
Marshalls face fell and he looked like he was going to be sick. "You guys arent serious," He said slowly. "Right?"
"C'mon, why would we do this, on your wedding day? If it wasnt true." Debbie asked.
"Because your my mother." He shot her a scornful glance.
"Im your mother, and Vanessas aunt." She said, staring at him. ""Im sorry dear."
Marshall looked at Judy, who nodded at him, and then at Vanessa who was totally silent, jaw dropped, eyes wide, looking like she was about to cry or puke, or both.
"you okay?" He asked her.
"No..." Vanessa said, feeling a sudden urge to throw up.
"C'mon," Marshall said, holding out his hand for her. "Lets go." She took his hand and they looked at their mothers like they were insane, and took off towards the exit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Cousins?!" Robert asked, a disgusted look on his face. "Thats just sick, you can have the annulment," He shoved the papers forward at them.

Marshall looked at Vanessa, and they nodded at each other. Picking up the pen, Marshall signed his name and wrote under, "Reason for seperation; Relatives."

"Im sorry." Robert looked at Vanessa, who looked like she wanted to cry. She couldnt help it, she loved Marshall, but god, why did they have to be cousins? Well, now they were cousins, and really good friends. But thats IT. She shuddered to think about their twisted relationship.
