Disfunctional Family

Chapter 2

"How was your home life?" Robert asked.

"Good..." Marshall said quietly.

"Your families got along?"

"Yeah, from what we can understand at least." Marshall sighed and Vanessa looked down.

"Then I dont see why you need this divorce."

~~~~~~Flashback~~~~~
Marshall cleared his throat and looked around the dark room. Vanessa was next to him on the couch, her head on his shoulder, one arm around him, her hand resting right below his stomach as she played around with the drawstring to his sweatpants.
Hailie was laying on the floor, on her stomach, propping herself up with her elbows and staring at the tv with wide eyes, happily engross in 'The Lion King'. He didnt want to watch this stupid disney movie, but after a few minutes of Vanessa putting guilt on him about not watching a movie with his only daughter and his girlfriend, he gave in.
Him and Vanessa got along better than anyone could have suspected. He called her a few days after they had first met, and apologized for being annoying. She accepted and he asked her to a movie, telling her that he would not annoy her this time, and she said yes. They had been dating for almost 7 months. He flew her out to be with him when he went away on tour or something, and they spent alot of time together. When he was home the two were inseperable, they were always together.
He smiled and looked over at Vanessa. She looked bored. He grinned evilly and leaned over, and started kissing her neck slowly, keeping one eye on Hailie, hoping she wouldnt turn around. He was mainly trying to drive Vanessa crazy. Vanessa giggled and pushed him away a little.
"Stop that tickles." She whispered. He didnt stop. "Hailie is right THERE!" She giggled.
"So? Its ok." He mumbled. She gave in and let him kiss her.
After a few minutes she started laughing loudly. Marshall pulled back, smiling at her reaction, and Hailie turned around abruptly, giving Vanessa a menacing look. She stopped laughing immediatly when she saw the look Hailie had given her.
"Mufasa just died by the wildabeast, and you think its funny?!" Hailie asked incrediously, standing up.
"No, I wasnt laughing about that. Im sorry." Vanessa giggled and Hailies anger grew more.
"Your a bad, bad person!" Hailie yelled, before stomping out of the room, leaving Vanessa staring after her and Marshall trying not to laugh. As soon as she was gone, Marshall put his hands over his face and fell backward into the cushions laughing. Vanessa rolled her eyes and slapped him upside the head, but not to hard.
"Oh great! She hates me now! Thanks to you." She crossed her arms and pouted.
"She'll get over it. I'll talk to her." Marshall stood up and shut off the moie, then walked back over to Vanessa and held his hand out to her.
"I told you it tickled." She rolled her eyes and took his hand, and he pulled her up off the couch.
"Yeah, I know." He laughed and they shut off the lights, turned on the security system and went upstairs. "I'll be right there." He said as they reached Hailies room.
"Yup." She nodded and continued down the hallway to Marshalls room.
After Marshall had explained to Hailie that Vanessa was sorry for laughing at the death of Mufasa, she forgave her, and he tucked her into bed, kissing her forehead softly and clicking off the light. He closed the door quietly and headed for his bedroom.
He opened the door and saw Vanessa sitting crosslegged on the bed, watching a Tyrese music video. she heard him enter and looked up at him. "Now theres a man who shouldnt ever wear a shirt." She said reffering to Tyrese.
"I know, Im just so fine." Marshall said, pulling his tee shirt over his head and strinking a pose, as if he were a model or something. "I guess its just a gift I have..."
"Oh yeah." She laughed. "Your hot alright."
"You know you love me chicken." He grinned and tossed the shirt to the floor carelessly, and flopped down beside her on the bed, shaking the mattress. "She forgives ya."
"Good. its your fault she was mad in the first place.
"I know, I know." He laughed as she laid down next to him and put her head on his shoulder. "So, have you thought about, you know...moving in?"
"Well I did. You want me to?"
"Mhm." He hummed pleasantly, kissing the top of her head and running his fingers through her hair.
"I guess it makes sense, I mean, its easier then going home everyday to check messages and stuff."
"Yeah, I mean, half your clothes are here anyway. Your paying rent for someplace that you only use half the time."
"Well, then yes, I guess I will move in."
"Yay!" He said in a childish voice. She laughed at him.
"Your too much." She said smiling. He sighed and wrapped his arms tighter around her, and she snuggled up close to him.
"I love you." He said quietly.
She froze. He felt her start to tense up and he cringed, realizing what he had just said. The worst part was, he meant it. He hadnt had ANY exstacy today. "Uh," She laughed nervously. "What?"
"Um, nothing." He replied.
"You said you love me, didnt you?" She sat up, looking down at him.
"I said uh," He hesitated. "Something else?"
"You love me?" She asked again. He had never told her that he loved her before now.
He sighed. "Yeah." He mumbled, blushing bright red.
"Oh my god. I dont know what to say." She shook her head.
"Uh, what about, I love you too?" He suggested. "Unless, you dont..."
She smiled and leaned down, kissing him softly on the lips. "Oh no, I DEFINATLY do. Im just surprised." She laughed and laid down, he grinned and wrapped his arms around her again. "That was so random!"
"Why? Your very loveable." He joked, but he meant it.
"I dunno. Its just weird." She shrugged.
"Thanks." He mumbled.
"No! Not weird that YOU love me, weird that you do."
"You know that made no sense?"
"Now I do. It sounded better in my head."
"I know whatcha mean. I think." He laughed. He went silent as a video for Britney Spears came on, 'Dont let me be the last to know'. Vanessa giggled at the look of interest on his face.
"I thought you hate her..." She said suspiciously.
"I uh," He cleared his throat. "I do. I just need to watch this...incase I ever, need to make fun of it."
"Oh, RIGHT." She laughed.
