Chapter 8

"You want me to leave?" Marshall asked.

"I just said that, didnt I?" Renae started crying, harder then she had ever remembered crying in her whole life.

"Okay, I'll leave. I'll go check on Marshall, and then see what Hailies doing, and then I'm gonna take a shower, and when I come back, we can talk some more, aight?"

"No, I mean, I want you to leave." She said in a choked sob. He wiped his hand across his face, smearing the tears in his eyes so that he could see better, only to find that the tears kept coming.

"What? Leave? For how long?" He asked, running his hand over his hair, messing it up a little in the process.

"I dont know. I really dont know. I have to think about things, I dont know what I want to do right now." She shook her head.

"Well, what about what I want to do?" He switched from sitting crosslegged, to kneeling beside her. "Look, I wanna stay, I wanna talk about this, okay? I wanna talk to you, please?"

She was silent for a second. "What, am I not good enough for you anymore?" She turned around to look right at him.

"No, Renae, thats not it. Thats not-" He started.

"No, I know what it is." She closed her eyes for a second, and resumed talking when she opened them. "Its that, its because shes really hot, right?" She questioned.

He didnt say anything, no matter what he said, this would get him in even more trouble then he already was in.

"Its because shes hot." She confirmed for him. He looked down at the floor. "And, I, I am not hot. Im not pretty enough for you. And I understand that."

"No, Renae, your beautiful-" He looked up immediatly.

"If Im so beautiful then why did you do that?"

"Its not because your not pretty. You are pretty. Your so beautiful. I dont know why I did that, shit, if I could take it back, you KNOW I would. I really regret it."

"Why? Because you didnt get off? All this fighting over you fucking that bitch, and your sitting here thinking, 'Damn, I wish I had gotten off.' I cant believe this."

"Renae," He started crying harder, and she looked away from, not wanting to see him cry. After he had calmed himself down enough to talk through the tears, he did. "Thats not what Im thinking."

"Oh my god." She brang her knees to her chest, and put her head down, her forehead on the top of her knees, her arms around her legs. He looked at her for a second before getting up and walking into the bathroom, getting some tissues and blowing his nose, and then flushing them down the toilet. He picked up a few more tissues and went back into the bedroom. Renae had stood up by this time and she was leaning against the wall, with her eyes closed.

He walked over to her and handed her the tissues. She took them, and looked up at him for a second. Immediatly, she looked away from him. She loved him to much to look at him right now, she felt like she wanted to puke when he spoke. It hurt her to see him cry, but it hurt her even more to think about Marshall and Laura together. She felt like her heart was going to stop when she had walked in on them. She had to do everything she could, not to drop Marshall, and to break down in tears of shock and pain. Though the shock had subsided, it seemed like the pain would never go away. She felt as if she would feel it forever, in place of the love that she felt for him.

She had really loved him, and she thought that he loved her too. She had said that she would love him forever, he had said the same about loving her forever, but this was alot shorter then forever.

"I dont know if we can do this Marshall." Renae wiped her face with the tissue. "I dont know if I can take anymore of your shit."

"My shit?" He questioned.

"Yeah, I thought I could trust you. You know? I leave the house for 2 fucking hours and 3 years of our relationship is completely gone." She slid down the wall and sat on the floor, hands over her face as she cried. He sighed and crouched beside her as she leaned forward and sobbed uncontrollably.

"Renae, come on, girl. Please dont cry." He started to rub her back and she looked up, glaring at him.

"Dont touch me! She squealed, elbowing him in the chest, but barely knocking him backwards, all the crying and fighting she had dont that day, had totally drained her strength from her. Her mind was overloaded and she felt like she would pass out from exhaustion.

He didnt say anything, just leaned forward and hugged her. She tried to get away at first, but after a few minutes of unsuccessful attempts at escaping him, she gave in and let him hold her. He took a deep breath and buried his face in her shoulder, and started crying again.

She wrapped her arms around him, and rested her head against his, never wanting to let him go. She knew that she would have to eventually, but she held him, let him cry, let herself cry. It was difficult to tell which one needed the hug more, but niether thought about it.

They cried and hugged for what seemed like a lifetime, letting out all their stress, anger, and pain through their tears. They hold onto each other tightly, and after they both ran out of tears, they pulled away slowly.

Marshall lifted his head, took a deep breath and then let it out, and ran his hand through her hair soothingly. He leaned back slowly, to look her in the eye, his arms still around her, reluctant to let her go. He looked up at her, her eyes were red, the tears had stopped, but the pain was still there, as it would always be.

"Im so sorry." He whispered softly, swallowing hard. She stared him in the eye for a few minutes before she answered. He felt the look she gave him, cut through his heart, squeezing his brain, making him feel the pain she felt at that moment.

"So am I." She said quietly, standing up and walking away from him, leaving him alone in their bedroom.

He stood there for a second, staring at the closed door. He didnt know what he was supposed to do now. She had told him that she wanted him to leave, but where the fuck was he supposed to go? He thought for a second and then decided on dropping Hailie off at Kims a day early, and then renting a hotel room for a few nights until things straightened themselves out.

He opened the door and set off down the hall to find Hailie. The nursery door was open and he could hear Renae in there, crying. He didnt stop or slow down, continued on his way and glanced at the closed guest room door. The room where his life got so fucked up, so quickly.

He couldnt help but find it strange how Renae had flipped out, but he hadnt seen Kenny go off on Laura at all. It was as if he didnt even care that his girlfriend had fucked him. He realized that in the two days Kenny and Laura had been here, he hadnt seen any sign of affection. No holding hands, no smiling at each other, no kissing, they barely touched. He shook the suspicious thoughts, he didnt have time to worry about them right now. He had his own problems.

When he reached the stairs he jogged down them, hopping off the last 3 at the bottom, and landing with a loud thud. He hurried through the living room, in a rush to get out of the house and find somewhere that he could relax in. He ran through the kitchen and stopped at the back door. Sliding the heavey glass door back, he stepped out into the porch.

Peering through the porch screen door, he saw Hailie sitting in a lawn chair, patting the tiny dog. He opened the door slowly. Hailie heard the door open and she turned around.

"Hai, babe!" He called to her, his voice sounding different from all the crying that he had done. "C'mon, we leaving."

Hailie picked up the puppy and ran to the house, holding the little animal tightly. She walked careflly up the wooden steps and up onto the porch. She looked up at her father. His hair was slightly ruffled, his face red, his eyes puffy, he didnt have a shirt on, and stood there in his jeans, barefoot in front of her.

"Whats wrong?" She asked carefully, slightly frightened.

"Uh, nothing babe. Listen, go get your stuff together while I call mommy and tell her we're coming home early. Okay?" He said, opening the door and holding it open so she could step through into the porch.

"Okay." She said quietly, opening the kitchen door and stepping inside. As soon as the door was closed, Hailie set the puppy on the floor and watched it scramble towards the water bowl on the floor.

Hailie went up to her room to pack her stuff together, and Marshall grabbed the cordless phone from th kitchen, and ran up the stairs, dialing Kims number in the process.

"Hello?" She asnwered, sounding bored.

"Kim." He said. She sighed.

"Marshall." She mocked him.

"Kim, I dont have time right now. Im bringing Hailie back now." He stopped in front of Hailies room, watching her put her clothes in her duffel bag, before continueing on down the hall to his room.

"Why? What happened?" Kim asked.

"Uh," Marshall opened the bedroom door, and could hear Renae sobbing from the nursery still. He wanted nothing more than to run in there, apologize and do whatever it took to make her stop crying. He felt tears come to his eyes and he blinked them back, refusing to let himself cry again, and especially when he was on the phone with Kim. He did his best to ignore Renaes cries and walked into the bedroom, shutting the door behind him.

"Well?" Kim prompted him to speak.

"Listen, I screwed up, and-"

"What else is new?" Kim smirked.

"Aight, nevermind. It aint none of your business anyways. Im bringing Hailie home, be there in 20 minutes." He hung up the phone and dialed the operator as he took a duffel bag from the bottom of the closet and tossed it on the bed.

He got the number of the four seasons hotel and reserved a room. He continued grabbing shirts from the closet, a couple pairs of boxers and jeans. He put on a pair of socks and slipped his sneakers on. He took a shirt and slipped it over his head.

"Dad?" Hailie was standing in the doorway, her duffel bag on the floor behind her.

"Yeah Hai. Im coming." He said, zipping the bag up, throwing it over his shoulder and taking his awllet off the top of the dresser.

He looked around again, making sure he hadnt forgotten anything and then headed towards the doorway, picking Hailies bag up on his way.

"Hai, you go get in the car, Ima let Renae know we're leaving." He said. She nodded and walked off, and he slowly stepped into the nursery.

"Renae," He said softly, watching her. She was sitting on the floor, leaning against the wall. She had stopped crying, but she looked miserable. "Im leaving!" He said, a little bit louder.

She didnt looked up. Continued staring at the wall blankly.

"Renae!" He raised his voice louder and she looked up.

"Oh, Im sorry, were you speaking to me? I thought you were sleeping with Laura..." She said in a mock cheerful tone.

"Renae." He sighed. "Im leaving. I got a hotel room at four seasons, but listen, I aint put it under my name, cause of the fans, so its under the name-"

"I dont care." She interrupted him. "Get the fuck out."

"Aight." He said quietly, letting himself out of the nursery and trudging down the hall. Renae watched him go, and then broke back into tears.

~~~~~~~~~~~
About 20 minutes later, after she heard Marshalls truck leave the driveway, Renae got to her feet and wiped the remainder of her tears on her sleeve. She glanced at the sleeping baby quickly, before leaving the room.
She wanted to go get in bed and sleep, but she knew that would be impossible. She couldnt sleep, not now, not after everything that had happened. She was still shaking with rage.
Her head was pouding, her eyes stung, her heart felt empty, and she wanted to puke. She could only imagine what she looked like right now. She walked into the bedroom and stumbled over to the bed. She was so tired she felt as if she would collapse.
Renae carefully laid herself down on the bed and buried her face in the pillow. She needed something. She didnt know what, and then it hit her. She wanted to talk to someone. She was the cordless phone on the bed next to her and she reached for it.
Praying Ariana was home she pressed the on button. Surprisingly she didnt hear a dial tone, instead heard laughing.
"Yeah well, she got Laura pretty bad." It was Kennys voice. She sighed and was about to hang it up when she heard a familiar voice.
"Man, I feel horrible." Her heart jumped. It was Jeff. She wanted to cry out and let them know she was there, and talk to Jeff, find out how he was doing. She hadnt talked to him in years. She was about to say something when Kenny cut her off.
"Dont feel bad, I did what I came here to do." He said proudly
"What? Get her money and break up the marraige? You better hope she dont find out. She could kick your sorry ass." Jeff laughed.
"Shut the fuck up. She wont find out."
"Hope not."
"She wont."
"Good."
"Now, we heading out in a few minutes, gonna tell her that Im sorry for what went down, and Im gonna act mad at Laura."
"Ha, Ill see you when you get back."
"Okay, bye." Kenny hung up and then Jeff. Renae hung up last and choked back a sob. What did that mean? She didnt understand. Smething just didnt add up with that conversation.
Something didnt feel right. She got up off the bed and walked down the hall to the guest room door, where she stood outside for a second.
"Kenny! Give me the rest of my part of the money!" Laura yelled. Renae stopped to listen.
"Look, I aint giving you shit, so get your stuff together and lets go. I wanna get the fuck up outta here."
"Okay, I prostitute myself, break up a marraige, and get my ass kicked, and I dont get paid for it?" Renae wanted to kill someone at the sound of Lauras voice.
"Laura, you did an awesome job. And I thank you, but, I came up with this whole plan! This was my idea, therefore I get more money."
"Shit, no!" Laura whined. "Im going to tell Renae. Im going to tell Renae about how you wanted this to happen, and how you made me flirt with him! You practically forced the two of us in bed!"
Renae felt her knees begin to shake, and she whimpered. If what she heard was true, then KEnny had planned this whole thing out, and had paid Laura to seduce Marshall. She nearly burst into tears, when she realized that Kenny was using her money to pay her.
All of a sudden, she grabbed the door handle and forced the door open. Laura was standing in the doorway to the bathroom that connected to the bedroom, looking dumbfounded, and Kenny was standing about 4 feet away from Renae.
She bit her bottom lip and glared at Kenny.
"Renae, you aight?" Kenny asked concernedly. She shook her head, her fists were balled up at her sides.
"You motherfucker." She growled, suddenly rushing forward and taking a swing at him.
He gasped as he felt her fist hit him hard, right in the nose. She gritted her teeth and brang her knee up to kick him in the balls for the second time in the course of 2 hours.
"Renae?! What the fuck is up with you?!" Kenny exclaimed, pushing her backwards roughly and cupping his hands over his face.
"You did this!" She screamed. "You did!"
"What?!"
"Its your fault!" She felt herself lose all self control, she no longer cared what happened or what she did. All she knew was that she wanted Kenny to die. She felt all the strength return to her body, and it was an unbelievable feeling of rage, and a major adrenaline rush. She had started to hyperventalate by now.
"Calm down." Kenny said, backing away from her.
"I CANT! I FUCKING HATE YOU!" She screamed. Kenny looked really scared, and if she had her way right now, he had reason to be.
Laura was silent, not daring to speak. Not daring to move. She held a cold towel to her face where Renae had punched her earlier.
"Ugh!" Renae screamed and grabbed Kenny by the collar of his shirt, yanking him forward closer to her. His eyes were wide as she stared at him. "You fucking dick! You son of a motherfucking BITCH!" She screamed.
"Wait, wait, wait. Tell me what the fuck is wrong with you!" He said, cringing, afraid of her punching him.
"You planned this shit. You wanted Laura to sleep with Marshall, and you even paid her. With MY MONEY!" She yelled. "I swear to god Im gonna fucking kill you!"
"Renae, Renae, dont do anything stupid. Dont do something your gonna regret!"
"I would never regret killing you, bastard!" She yelled, slapping him across the face.
"Yeah, you would, what about Marshall?" Kenny tried desperatly to save himself.
She felt tears well up in her eyes and he shook his head.
"The baby, the baby. Dont do something your gonna regret. Please?" Kenny pleaded.
"Wheres my 5 thousand dollars?" She asked calmly. Something about Marsh just calmed her down. She wouldnt kill Kenny, he was right. She couldnt do that, she had to think of Marsh.
"My back pocket." He said. She let him go, throwing him backward. He reached into his back pocket and pulled out the 3 thousand dollars that he had, handed it to Renae. She counted it and looked up at him expectantly.
"Wheres the rest? This isnt all of it." She waited.
"Laura has it." Kenny jerked his head towards Laura. Laura looked nervous as she reached into her pocket and held her hand out with the folded bills. Renae glared at her as she grabbed the money away from her.
"Bitch." She mumbled, counting the money that Laura gave her. When she felt satified, she looked up. "Get the fuck out of my house."
"Okay." Kenny said, grabbing his bags.
"NOW!" She screamed. Kenny started moving faster, and Laura started to get her stuff together. "Hurry the fuck up. Get the fuck out now."
Kenny and Laura hurried to get their stuff together, and Renae walked them downstairs, rushing them out the door.
"Kenny, I swear to god, if I ever see or hear from you again, I will fucking murder you." She yelled across the front lawn as they got in the car.
"Temper, temper." Kenny shook his head. "Jeff was in on it too!"
"Ohhh, then you tell Jeff what I told you!" She screamed, going back into the house, slamming the door as hard as she could behind her. She felt tears sting at her eyes, but she held them back and ran back upstairs to find the phone.
