Welcome to the
Kunicia Australian Shepherd web site. Kunicia Aussies are the product of years
of careful study and planning. It is extremely important to me, as a breeder,
to produce physically and mentally sound Aussies. My goal is an Aussie who can
do it all with enthusiasm and still be a joy to live with. The need for a friendly, stable temperament
is fairly obvious in order for an Aussie to be a loving
member of the family. And a well-put-together Aussie is versatile and
will be an active companion for many years to come.
To achieve this goal, I not only study dogs
and their pedigrees, but also make sure the appropriate testing is done. Before
being bred, all dogs and bitches must have their hips OFA certified. They must also have their eyes cleared by
CERF within a year before the breeding takes place. All puppies are checked by a CERF certified
Veterinary Ophthalmologist at around seven weeks of age.
I only breed an occasional
litter due to the amount of time involved. Kunicia puppies are raised with a
great deal of love in my home and are well socialized to people, children and
other dogs, as well as the family cat.
As soon as it is safe for the puppies, they go with me on errands and to
obedience classes, where they are always the center of attention.
When it comes to
parting with my puppies, I drive a hard bargain. Some people say I’m picky about who gets to take home a Kunicia
puppy … and they are absolutely right! I check out future homes very
thoroughly. If you are interested in adopting a Kunicia Aussie, the first step
is to fill out a Puppy Application and return it to me. Then there is a series
of informal interviews. My goal is to
place my puppies in loving homes, hopefully for the rest of their lives.
Companion puppies are guaranteed to be healthy at the time of the sale and are
sold on a spay/neuter contract. Eyes, hips, bites and testicles are guaranteed
on show prospect puppies.
