About Us Our supporters are drawn from the broad middle ground of Lusitanian society and politics who have previously voted for all parties and none. Our primary aim is the creation of an autonomous region for Lusitania within the Portuguese Republic.
The position of Lusitania within the Portuguese Republic is not central to Lusitanian Popular National Congress (KTTL) despite the fact that independence is the key plank of most political groups and organizations in Lusitania. The separation issue can, and should be, debated at some point in the future. For now, we want to create the Autonomous Region of Lusitania in the centre (province of Beiras) of Portugal and improve the lives of Lusitanian people in Lusitania and Portugal.
To create a new, vibrant and successful Lusitania the political process has to change. We need to leave behind old-fashioned portuguese machine politics where decisions are made along rigid party lines with no proper regard given to what is best for the nation and our people.
Lusitania needs a broad based movement to represent the views of hundreds of thousands of ordinary, hard-working, enterprising and anonymous citizens. If the majority who have not voted at previous elections in Portugal are to have a voice, if our energetic and entrepreneurial people are to realise their potential for the betterment of both themselves and our nation, and if our youth are to be encouraged to make the country of their birth their home (and those who have left enticed to return), then their needs must be represented.
· KTTL stands for competent, prudent regional government in Lusitania. We are here to fight and give a voice to lusitanian people who feel let down by the centralist portuguese political establishment. · KTTL stands for government that listens and engages with the people and acts according to the wishes and aspirations of the lusitanian electorate in Lusitania and Portugal. · KTTL stands for enterprise and ambition. We need a regional parliament that helps release the freedom, energy and talent of the lusitanian people. · KTTL stands for a radical shake-up of the portuguese
political establishment and the break-up of power blocs that have
dominated lusitanian and portuguese politics for too long. |
