Out of the first three installments, Once Upon a Time in China III comes short of the rest. Even though it is a good movie, the story just isn't as good as either I or II, and the action sequences don't meet up. Overall I found the fight performances disappointing, especially after seeing OUTC II, In particular, the lion dance fight was pretty cool, but you don't see many man to man battles. Fei Hung usually takes on multiple enemies, no one really being as tough as he was. All in all a good movie that lives up to the Once Upon a Time in China series quality, just not as good as the first two.

Wong Fei Hung (Jet Li) , Aunt Yee (to whom Fei Hung is secretly married to) and his sidekick Chung arrive in Peking just as the empress announces a lion dance martial art contest. But this leads to fights between the competitors. Fei Hung must put an end to the fighting and resolve the conflict.
