. Man Called Hero is a well-rounded film. Not the best work by Andrew Lau, but none the less a decent movie. At first it starts off pretty dull, and stays that way for most of the film with a lot of story telling. But when there is action, there is plenty to go around. The last scene on the statue of liberty is amazing. The CGI effects are pretty out dated, but still look very good. This movie isn't english dubbed, only Cantonese and Mandarin with english subtitles. This was one of the movies that helped me find my way to Chinese cinema. When I first saw it years ago, I thought it was one of the best movies I had ever seen. Now that I've watched other movies like Storm Riders and The Bride with the White Hair I see that the movie isn't as good as I originally thought. But don't get me wrong, It's still a good flick.

. The story tells of a young hero who just happened to be named Hero. His parents are killed after a special ceremony and Hero takes revenge. Afterwards he is forced to move to America. While in the US, his girlfriend has his baby in China. Years pass and Hero's son has grown into a man. Together with his fathers old friends, he sets out to find Hero in America. He eventually does but his father tries to avoid him because he thinks that he is bad luck and will only bring death if he stays around. To make a long story short, Hero ends up killing his enemies from the past and finally achieves peace. If you like Andrew Lau movies, definitely pick this up.
