. The Legend of the Flying Swordsman is a some-what strange movie about the life of a drunk man and all of his problems. Most of the movie is centered on the story, not much action here. It's almost like a Chinese lifetime movie. I almost gave up on this flick until the end. That's when things heated up a little and everything started coming together. Some really shocking events take place along with a few fight scenes with some pretty good CGI effects. One thing I found weird was the tecno music playing in what seemed to be a ancient Chinese club. Weird, but it didn't seem to out of place, and the song is catchy as hell (to me anyway). The film does have its moments but you have to sit through a bunch of dull story to get to the juicy stuff. I have a feeling the lady martial art fans would enjoys this film much more than a guy would.

. The story is about a swordsman who has a drinking problem. One day he found out he got his girlfriend pregnant and decides to marry her. But when the baby is born, the mans father (Sonny Chiba) wont let the childs mother go near her own son. This slowly drives her mad, and the fact that her husband is a neglecting drunk didn't help either. One day the mans wife went out for a walk and saw a strange man. She soon began to think of him constantly until one day he shows up and takes her away. On the way to find his wife the swordsman is attacked and receives a blow to the head and lost his memory. He was nursed back to health by a kind woman. When he regained his memory he went to his house only to find his mother and father had been killed and his wife and son were missing. He searches for his wife and finds she is with another man. He fights the man and attacks him with a critical blow. But as the man dies and he hold his son in his hands, his wife stabs him in the chest. She reveals that is was her that killed his parents and when he came home in a drunken stupor he accidentally killed his own son. She left him and the child he was holding was actually the son of the man that was dying in front of him. When the baby starts crying, the man on the ground jumps up not knowing his son is in his enemies hands and throws a dagger at the swordsman. But instead of hitting him, he kills his own son as well. In a last effort to kill the swordsman, the man jumps up and thrusts his sword at him, but the swordsman turns and put's his ex-wife in front of the blade killing her. The swordsman lives, but is badly injured. He returns to the lady who help him only to leaves shortly after.
