Killing Machine starts off in the late 40's at a time of war in Japan. When
the film starts it almost looked like it would end up being a war
movie, but it soon changed track. Chiba plays a spy that looses his
faith after his country surrenders. But later in life after he comes
to terms with his past, he becomes an honorable man. This is definitely
one of Chiba's better films. The action is great and although the
story can get dull at times, it is very good. Another great aspect of
the movie was the musical score. It has plenty of ear pleasing tunes
that fit the mood of the movie perfectly, which is mostly sad and
somber. With good acting, a decent amount of fighting, and a great
story, this is a classic Sonny Chiba Film.

Following the end of World War II, a former Japanese soldier and
Shaolin martial arts master played by Sonny Chiba returns to Osaka to
find black marketeers controlling the town. His campaign against them
lands him in trouble with crooked lawman and sends him to a remote
village, where he establishes his own martial arts school. When the
crooks show up there, all hell breaks loose.
