People Who Look Like Me

Over the years I have come to realize that I really have no true identity of my own. This has been the cause of much heartache and strife for me. I used to scream,"Look! Not all black people look alike!" until I realized that actually, people are just stupid, and I will never be able to gain my own persona. Most people do not actually know me as "Kim". They think my name is a variety of different names that belong to other happy, smiling black girls. I understand their confusion. There aren't a lot of us out there. This is a place for me to showcase all of the people that I am "proud" to be mistaken for. Look and see for yourself. If you find yourself doing a double-take, don't worry. You're just a moron.

Me and Ashaunte

Well, can you figure out that equation? Cause I sure as hell can't. When I first came to college, everyone told me that I was just like "a friend from back home". My friends Lauren and Touhy went so far as to say that I am a perfect mix between these two girls-Ashaunte(left) and Alex(right). Hmm..maybe if you squint a little..and turn your head to the side...and do tequila shots for 45 minutes...yeah, there we go.

Sara

Alright, now this one goes all the way back to 6th grade. Sara and I used to wear the same "letter jacket" type coat everyday to school, and we were both smiling and always together. So people began calling me "Sara" 'cause that's who they associated me with. My problem came when people refused to acknowledge that we do not look alike at all. They also refused to believe that I was not "Sara". By the time we hit highschool, she and I realized that most people had no idea who she was, and they had always thought that I was "Sara". So therefore "Kim" did not exist. Kinda ups the ol' self esteem,eh?

Kendra

This has been the most frustrating and damning of them all. All throughout highschool I was repeatedly called Kendra, because apparently we look just alike. She is 5'3. I am 5'8. She was a star soccer player. I was in the marching band. She calls me a brontasaurus. I call her a troll. Despite all of these differences and the main one being that we don't look alike or sound alike at all, people still congratulated me on a great game in the halls. Yes, I took the credit, because I figured that I should get something out of not having my own identity.

Tyra Banks

Yeah, so no one really has ever or will ever mistake me for Tyra Banks, but if they did then it would be pretty cool. I mean c'mon, is it really too much to ask? In any case, I'm more likely to be told that I look like this next famous mammal..

The Platypus

I can explain. A while back one of my best friends filled out a survey about me and said that the animal that I best resemble is the platypus. Of course I was shocked and horrified, but then the resemblence was confirmed by others. I still hate them to this day.
