Tristram "Chaucer" Sklaerson
MUNDANE NAME: William Braden Arther Stevens
PERSONA NAME: Tristram "Chaucer" Sklaerson (day), Gareth of the Wold, bandito extraodinaire (night)
PERSONA HERITAGE: Welsh
PERSONA INFO: Born in Wales in the year 1113, Gareth was born and bred to be a farmer, like his father, but his basic survival skills were in no way neglected; namely, bow use with some melee. Unfortunately, his relatively idyllic farm life was cut short when British raiders attacked and destroyed his home in the dead of winter. Father and mother dead, and his sisters soon to die from lack of protection, Gareth barely survived the winter. When the spring came, a new man emerged with a focused hatred of the British that went beyond the average welsh peasant. Rechristening himself, Tristram, to alwaus remind himself of the slaughter of his family, he began scouring the countryside for likeminded folk, all the while trying to bend his will and body toward combat, and revenge. The next spring, after gathering a sizable band of thirty men of a similar temperment. Tristram lef them in a raid against an english lord in the countryside of Wales. His meager fort relatively unprotected, and the attack nearly unexpected, Tristram and his band had little trouble in taking the fort with few losses. This raid came as an epiphany, especially as it was followed by armed British forces scouring th countryside for the band, and treating the Welsh there even worse than before. His men, abandoning themselves for the satisfaction of looting, Tristram realized that this was not the way of revenge. His band seperated, and Tristram began work as a traveling serf of sorts, moving about the countryside as a peasant for hire, exercising meager musical and poetical talents when possible for gain, often as not poaching with his hunting skills. Not legendary in skill, he was still able to gain moderate winnings in archery competitions.
But unknown to most everyone he meets, Tristram is a successful bandit. He travels the countryside, seeking out oppurtunities to cause trouble for the English crown, or any noble that strikes his fancy, and gathers up the dedicated members of his old band to raid at a whim. This is all in great secret, and in time Tristram became a less notorious, more pracitcal Robin Hood; stealing to profit his band and their families. When his ambitions have cooled, he will always jump at a chance to harm or hinder the Crown and all of it's workings. But, for the most part, Trsitram plays the convincing part of a wandering Welshman; farming as a trade, mild mannered, and slightly musically talented peasant. He is mild mannered and kind in apparent nature, keeping his hatred cold and out of sight. Someday, he hopes he can satisfy his need for justice. Most likely, he will continue wandering, and living off those he considers his oppressors.
