Centuries ago, Brahmins migrated from Tamilnadu to villages in Palakkad, now a town on the border between Kerala and Tamil Nadu. One such village is Kumarapuram which lies between Kalpathy, Ambikapuram and Chokkanathapuram villages. Kumarapuram village lies on the Banks of Nila river and is also famous for vedic learning. The main or presiding Deity of this village is Lord Prasanna Venkatachalapathy. The temple has a lot of significance in the fact that, this one of those rare idols of Lord Sri Venkitachalapathy with his consorts Alamelu and Mangalambal. |
| The rituals performed in this temple are in line with those performed at the Tirupathi Tirumala Venkatachalapathy Temple and it is believed that the dieties here have equal powers of that of Lord Balaji at Tirupathi Tirumala. It is also believed that this temple is associated with "Kumaran", another name for Lord Murugan, as the village bears the name "Kumarapuram". Other deities in this temple are Maha Ganapathi, Dharmasasta (Lord Ayyappan) who preserves the Brahmin Culture and Lord Subramanya - the protector. | |
