Sister 1
We were sitting down and discussing the success some people in the computer business have had. It is a case that successful computer scientists have amassed wealth which can only be measured if one goes beyond million in English and start using words like billion and trillion. In my language, a billion is called an arab. Then the next number is called a kharab. Given that the dollar is worth 40 rupees, a billion dollars = 40 arab and a trillion dollars will be 400 kharab. Now 100 kharab in my language are called a neel. So it only requires 250 billion dollars to become what would be called in my language a neelpati. So I was speculating that a good smart computer scientist like me can even realistically dream of becoming a neelpati. My father, who was listening to my speculations, had a decisive comment on my speculations "at least you remember the counting in your language". On hearing this, my sister had humorous lines next to her eyes, which I can distinguish based on my knowledge for her for 35 years. It was obvious to me that she was about to launch a cutting humorous comment at my expense. I briefly call it the can-can dance of the agents of the devil. "Why do you have to do so much work ?", she asked me, "when all you have to do to be classified as a neelpati is to marry a girl called neel". In my language the word for the husband of a girl called neel and the owner of a neel worth of wealth are called the same i.e. neelpati.
