Dear Ravi Sir Challu
If your IIT admission form bears "None" entry against Religion
then I am indeed very impressed. Your letter is not clear on this. So did you
write "None" even in the admission form you filled up for IIT?
Wrong question, Sir. for to conclude anything based on IITK is wrong. As the
great semantician Korzybski and adherents could argue, AK and AK-25 are not the
same people!
Dear Dak Sir kumar
"Religion: None"
Allow me to disagree on a different ground entirely, so much so
that I see the justification in amendment that allows only natural born citizen
to become the president of this nation. Being called a Hindu IS different
precisely because it allows you to believe in pink elephants, physics etc as
your religion. What is called human rights here, and Hindu rights in India are
exactly the same thing. When Bajrang etc do stupid things and attempt to call
them Hindu, it is language abuse which must be fought hard enough. There are
many racists here who abuse christianity, sharon abuses judaism, hitler abused
sawastikas (my mother still draws them in every havan) etc. Linguistic abuse
condemns the abuser, not the concept. What Taliban are doing is more than
political vendetta against Hindus, they are trampling on Human rights themselves
Given that there are so many abuses, and only one of me with limited resources, it follows I have to focus on sheer realism grounds, and ANY conclusions drawn from not paying attention to some issues are stupid, except that the impression one gets from not doing anything effective is that I don't care. Identical to problems in chasing many women in parallel. My solution is simple too - automate the response process. So much so that the day I can handle 5 women at once, I will take on the VAMPIRE Lawyers and sue the wretched morons of Massivenuts for a billion dollars earmarked for IIT Kanpur.
Afgan Hindus represent a concept that I would be honored to help and I want
some one to take the leadership role, balance the issues, recognize my
limitations and boil down everything into effective actions. For anti-trust
reasons, I want automatic 3 opinions. That is what political parties are
supposed to do. Let there be substantive debate on any issue. In other words,
McNeil-Lehrer-PBS, excellent watching/learning over treadmill.
Dear Ravi Sir Challu
For your information, for quite some time now, our family enmasse,
has believed in and will continue to believe in Shirdi Sai baba, who is equally
revered by Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs.
Wrongly revered I am afraid. Forunately many life sacrifices have bought
us enough time to debate the issue rationally. There is a simple cantfake
test of my design derived from the successes of American meds etc even when I
don't think much of the practicioners - note down interesting things for a week,
stop your belief for next week also recording, compare what happened between the
two weeks. Do this test whenever with just one proviso - always the week of
beliefs first.
Dear Dak Sir kumar
Why should the Janasanghi assume the burden of speaking for the Hindu?
Who exactly are these Janasanghi? How come they are still around? What
sustains them?
We all try and think of what we can do to stop the sort of madness that
has now taken hold of Afghanistan.
THE unfortunate impression you convey is that is not what you are doing. what
is the effective thing you are doing? or is it just vaporware? As computer
scientists at Bell labs, we had horrendous names for executives AND
mathematicians. They were called executives and mathematicians.
Are you a mathematician?
Regarding our reaction, would it be the same if Taliban hd destoryed
ancient statues of christ, forced Jews to wear yellow, and incensed Bush enough
to bomb Kabul? Or like ALL lawyers I know, they don't indulge in hypotheticals?
Dear Vijay Sir Gupta
You (as well as Joey and Prakash) have given a lot of thought to what Hindus
should NOT do whenever their rights or freedoms are trampled upon. Have you also
given some thought to some CONCRETE things they should/could do that would be
effective in protecting their rights?
THIS unfortunate impression you get is not the reality. The problem is
ineffectiveness of response to Taliban.. What should one do? Why should one
think about it?
And this indifference is probably a good reason why many ordinary
Hindus vote for parties like BJP.
Statistically insignificant I am afraid. As a pollster I would not ask my
BJP clients to be worried.
Let me reiterate one of my previous comments. Fundamentally, this battle
is NOT about religion as we normally understand religion to be. It is about
protecting our freedoms and our way of life, e.g., the right to dress without
purdah, the right to abortion, and the right to be an atheist without being
labeled a kafir/heathen etc.
Very well put.
Dear Dak Sir Kumar
On two separate occasions, over the last two years, when you have discussed
Kashmir on this forum, you have come out hammer and tongs about the atrocities
being committed on Kahmiri Muslims. I have however never heard a word of
commiseration from you, on your own initiative, regarding what happened to
displaced Kashmiri Pandits who became refugees in their own country. You are
bound to be misunderstood in such situations.
I see you as somebody who appears to be vociferously opposed to Hindus
expressing themselves as Hindus when every major ethnic group around
them is busy stressing their ethnicity and not hesitating to exploit that
aspect. However now that Hindus as a community have started to exercise
themselves like the Congress and the Surjit Singhs of India you are incensed and
are ready to do a Maa behen ki to the Jan Sanghis and the Hindus.
In somebody who is known to be very rational and an atheist this comes up as a
contradiction not easy to understand. Once again you are bound to be
misunderstood. Under the current circumstances hindus have been left with very
little choice but to start expressing and stressing their ethnicity. And there
is no use saying "Oh I am against all communities misusing or terrorising
on the basis of their religion or their ethinicity". That is not the
reality.
And do not throw Gita and Ram Charit Manas at me. Even Ram had to go fight over
Sita. Kekayi happened. And Krishna had to advise Pandavas to fight for their
rights. Remember Krishna telling the Panadavs "Laaton key Bhoot Baaton se
nahi maantey".
The lesson in both cases is that you have to stand up and fight for your rights.
And also remember that British had an equal contribution in making of the legend
called Gandhi. Nazis, like the Afghans, would have shot the blighter on the
first day. For pacifism to work you require a civilised adversary who
understands the rules of the game. It will not work with someone who will stick
a bomb up your backside and light a slow fuse everytime. You cannot afford to
forget that my dear friend.
The day Gaiea has happened, I shall also be singing Bhajans and hugging and
kissing my neighbours and if pacifism by then has caught strong enough roots,
even his comely wife. But till then buddy I intend to cover and protect my ass.
And if BJP (Ugh! What Brutes) are the ones who offer to help me in that well so
be it.
Ravi Sir Challu
