Voice Industrie
"Voice Historie (2CD)
A Different Drum

Getting their start in the early 90s, in Canada, Voice Industrie helped move EBM and synthpop towards the future. Their sound has changed and progressed quite a bit over the years. This collection is a good retrospective covering the group's first three albums.

The first four tracks come from the earliest of these, Psychotica, which came out in 1992, as a cassette only release. Their form of driving electronic beats had obvious influences ranging from Depeche Mode to early Ministry. The second of their catalog was, The Anatomie from 1995. The very machine oriented beats drive their dance floor sound while the crooning vocals add deep emotion to the sound. Stand out tracks from this album found on this compilation, good for any dance floor, include Tempest, Assassin, and both versions of Pain is Pleasure. The signs of change are very apparent with each new release, but as Transmission, 1999, shows us trance is becoming a bigger part of the Voice Industrie world. Transmission was basically a single with several remixes from their first two albums. Stand outs for this one include the remix of True Believer and two remixes of Sterility.

As the band continues to grow and release new material, this collection is a fine overview of where they came from and how they are moving on. More info on the band and this release can be found at the Different Drum website or at the Official Voice Industrie website.
