Style Indoor Game Individual Players Very Active Acting Required Jungle Book
Setup and Background This is part of the story "Kaa's Hunting, when the Bandarlog kidnapped Mowgli and took him to their lair... Bagheera and Baloo depended on Kaa to help save Mowgli.

A Leader or Sixer can be Kaa's head.

Play
  • The pack form Kaa's body by joining up to the head in a long (snaking) chain, hands on the shoulder of the Cub in front. There should be no breaks along the body. All move slowly, in step, following as the leader glides along. Cub Scouts should quietly hiss and walk on the tips of their toes to make as little other sound as possible. It should be like a snake slithering through the grass.
  • The head leads them to follow a Figure of 8 path, then into a coiling circle - getting smaller and smaller until finally uncoiling back out again.
  • The Leader then calls "BandarLog". All the Cubs Scouts (but the head) break off and start acting (and sounding) like Monkeys. They must keep busy doing this and no paying attention to anything else going on.
  • the Leader then calls "Kaa". The monkeys freeze with horror - they're enemy is here!
  • The Head now gets up, arms out front with thumbs clasped, head down abd slowly swing to and fro.
  • The Head hisses once, and all the monkeys take one step toward the head.
  • The Head points out one monkey to be 'eaten'. The Monkey comes forward and crawls between Kaa's set of legs and joins the tail (as before).
  • Following this approach, each of the monkeys is 'eaten'.
  • When Kaa's body is fully reformed, the Head leads the body into a circle, then lies down to rest after its large meal.
Ends Once Kaa is asleep, the call of PACK PACK PACK can re-commence Parade!

If time is short, limit the eating to 10-12 monkeys and get the rest to join on.
