Ellen graduated from Johnson High school in 1955. She went on to receive a teaching certificate from Peru State Teachers College and taught at a country school for one year. Deciding that teaching was not her forte, she chose to attend The Lincoln School of Commerce.
Ellen was married to Roger Dale Ryan, born Nov. 13, 1937, on June 21, 1964. Except for taking time out to raise their two daughters, Ellen held a number of office related positions, namely at the University of Nebraska, Cen Tel, United Christian Resource Center, and lastly Goodyear.
Roger spent 39 years with Goodyear, and with company transfers the family lived in Lincoln, NE, Gurnee, Il, and during the daughters growing up years, in Sun Prarie, Wisconsin then back to Lincoln where Roger and Ellen retired. Most dear to Ellen is her family and traveling.
