Circle of Magic

1 - Sandry's Book/The Magic in the Weaving

'There is magic in crafts, in creating something useful. I just followed that magic to the next level.'
- Tamora Pierce

The Winding Circle Temple has four new residents ...

Sandry, Tris, Briar and Daja couldn't be more different.  One is of noble birth and one is a street urchin, brought up to a life of thievery.  One is a Trader and one is a merchant girl, two cultures traditionally at war with each other.

But they all have something in common ...

They each possess a strange and wonderful power.  These four powers will unite them.  And when disaster strikes, it is the weaving of the magic that will keep them all alive ...

2 - Tris's Book/The Power in the Storm

'Tris's tale is for every bad-tempered bookworm (including the author) who ever wanted to call down the thunder on a tormentor.' - Tamora Pierce

Winding Circle Temple is under threat ...

It's been centuries since pirates have dared to attack Winding Circle.  But the community's magic has been weakened by an earthquake, and the pirates have a dangerous new weapon.

For four young mages, it's time to test their powers ...

Tris, Sandry, Daja and Briar love living in Winding Circle and vow to protect it - even if this means unleashing their untrained magic on the world.  Tris, the 'weather witch', determines to save the temple, but there's a high price to pay for her actions ...

3 - Daja's Book/The Fire in the Forging

'I think fire is the most fascinating element.  It is friend and foe, and sometimes the difference lies only in the direction of the wind at the time.' - Tamora Pierce

The magic is out of control ...

The Winding Circle mages were supposed to aid drought-stricken Gold Ridge.  But with their magics tangled and entwined, Tris, Sandry, Daja and Briar only add to the valley's problems.

They must learn restraint ...

As flash-fires close in about the castle, the four struggle to master their unpredictable power.  It seems their skills must be separated and confined.  But that might hamper Daja's growing ability to manipulate fire ... and destroy their one hope of saving Gold Ridge.

4 - Briar's Book/The Healing in the Vines

'Sometimes honour is found in the places where there is the least glory.' - Tamora Pierce

Summersea faces terrible danger ...

Plague has struck the city.  A blue pox - like nothing the healers have ever seen.  It spreads rapidly and it's touch is deadly.

Time is running out ...

Forced into quarantine by exposure to the outbreak, Briar and his teacher, Dedicate Rosethorn, fight to keep the victims alive.  But their magic has limits - it offers comfort, but no cure.  The Winding Circle mages must find the key to countering the disease, and fast, or Summersea will become a city of the dead.
