ARBORETUMS IN
KANSAS

   Paul was born in Brooklyn,
NY and lived in Washington D.C. and Kansas City. He became famous to all Kansas Tree lovers when he became chairman of the Meriam Tree Board. Paul was eulogized by Merriam Mayor Irene French where she called him a "Treemendous" person.

Paul served as Chair of the Kansas Urban Forestry Council Legislative Committee and in 1993, served as Chairman. He served on the National Urban and Community Forestry Council from 1992 - 1995, where he played a leading role in the formation of policy for the Council, which advises the National Forest Service. The City of Merriam, KS proclaimed him the Civic Man of the Year in 1989. In 1992, he received the State Forester's Award and the Joyce Kilmer award of the National Arbor Day Foundation in 1994.

Paul once said, "Of all his life's accomplishments, the most satisfying was being able to drive around Merriam and know he was responsible for so many of the trees." Forestry will miss him!
