Immanuel United Church of Christ
WelcomeImmanuel United Church of Christ extends a most cordial welcome to all who are becoming members or desire to become members of Immanuel Church. The congregation extends to you a most cordial invitation to participate in all of its activities, and thus become an integral part of this warm, unified, and forward moving fellowship. Origin and HistoryImmanuel Church was started by the Rev. C.J. Zimmerman and a group of members of St. John Church who lived in the area of what is now known as the lower Highlands. The organizational meeting was held in Fischer's Hall, on Baxter Avenue, May 15, 1898. The first church was built at the corner of Bardstown Road and Grinstead Drive. Immanuel moved to its present location in 1925. The present church building was erected in 1961, and the former building was remodeled for use as an educational building at the same time.
