Chapter 5--Chaotic Hogwarts::

There was an instant uproar and students dash with panic towards the closest horseless carriage. People were shoving each other out of the way, and the first years were frightened to death at the thought of sailing to Hogwarts with an unmistakable half-giant.

The horseless carriage arrived at the front of the gate and the students ran frantically up the stone steps, ignoring the caretaker, Filch, who was yelling at them to stop running. Students filled the Great Hall, talking in terrified whispers. Professor McGonagall took out the old, worn, Sorting Hat which started to sing its annual Sorting song only to be stopped by Professor Dumbledore. The Sorting went rather quickly, and when "Ziman, Nathan" became a "RAVENCLAW!" Professor Dumbledore gave his speech.

"As you all have witnessed, the Hogwarts Express was attacked by Death Eaters this afternoon. Due to Lord Voldemort's return, a few last-minute rules have been established. Firstly, no student is to be wandering around the school at all times; free times may only be spent with in your House common room or under the supervision of a teacher. Second, besides Herbology and Care of Magical Creature, students are prohibited to leave the castle, staffs and Ministry officials will be stationed at every entrance at all times. Thirdly, until further notice, Quidditch matches and Hogsmeade weekends are canceled."

There was a lot of commotion at this. "What?!" Ron exclaimed, "But I practiced Keeper maneuvers for the whole summer!!"

"Oh, well, what are you expecting to do with a two-player team?" Harry said bitterly. "Fred and George left school early; Katie, Angelina, and Alicia finished their last year already."

"I wouldn't mind being a Chaser," said Ginny, sitting opposite from Ron. "I won a Comet Five-Forty in a sweepstake. Can't wait to try it out..., although it's still nowhere as good as the Firebolt."

"Hey, Harry!" Said Colin Creevy, a fifth year who is highly obsessed with Harry. "If Quidditch was allowed, do you think me and Dennis could be Beaters?"

"Uh..., you'd need to tryout. That was the rules established by Wood." Harry said, secretly hoping that Colin and Dennis wouldn't make the team.

"Now," Dumbledore continued. "Let me introduce some new teachers. First we have Professor Lupin, who have kindly rejoined us to teach a special Dark Arts class for those doing exceedingly well in their original Dark Arts class." There was a deafening cheer from the Gryffindor table.

"And second, allow me to introduce Professor Adam Avalons, the teacher who will be responsible for the normal Dark Arts class." There was some respectable clapping as Professor Avalons stood up and Harry recognized him as the man giving the report during the meeting. "Now, I am glad to say that Professor Trelawney is back to her usual job of teach Divinations and Firenze the Centaur will be teaching an extra Astronomy and Stargazing class to those who're interested.

"Lastly, this year, we will be providing some extra curriculum activities incase you would like to do something else to do during your free times. A full list of these curriculums may be viewed and signed up at the staff room. And that's all I have to say, enjoy your dinner."

Suddenly, the gold plates and goblets before them are filled with food and drinks, but none of them were in the mood of feasting except the Slytherins. Harry quickly finished his meal and passed a note to all the members of the D.A.

The dinner finished without much chattering, and the fourteen students belonging to Dumbledore's Army headed for the staff room. When they came across the stone gargoyle that guarded it, Harry realized that he didn't know the password. Professor McGonagall stepped out of the room and told Harry that Dumbledore's decided to meet them in his own office. However, he still don't know the password.

"Erm..., pumpking juice?" Harry tried, the others stared at him, he shrugged. "Uh.., Butterbeer?" The gargoyle stayed the way it is.

"Try Skiving Snackboxes!!" Ron suggested.

"D'you really think-" Harry began, but stopped. The stone gargoyle sprang to life and revealed the door way leading to Dumbledore's office. The company walked slowly up the stairway and came into Dumbledore's circular office, each of them carrying an amazed look.

"Ah," Dumbledore said, upon seeing their expressions. "So you've figured out the password. I was at Diagon Alley a few weeks ago and came across the Weasley twins' shop. It seems like their Snackboxes were a huge hit, I had to already confiscate a huge amount of them."

All of the members of the D.A. besides Harry, Ron, and Hermione were examining the circular office with great interest. Dumbledore cleared his throat to get their attentions.

"Yes, I believe Professor Lupin have already informed you guys of the special Dark Arts class that you will be taking?" They nodded their head. Dumbledore continued, "Very well. Anyway, I was thinking, since you guys are so much more advanced in the Dark Arts category than others, then you would handle danger better than others. Which is why I am giving you guys the privilege to patrol the school during your free time, and you are to come to me by the end of the day and report anything unusual you've observed during your patrol, is that clear?"

The D.A. stood there, shocked. All students are supposed to be good boys and girls and stay in their common rooms while they get to roam the school as they wish? Excited, they nodded. Dumbledore smiled weakly at them, "I'm counting on you guys. You may go back to your common rooms now."

The D.A. left, the stone gargoyle hopped back to its original position.

"This is mad!" Ron exclaimed the moment they left. "We, patrol the school!?"

"Dumbledore must trust you a lot to give us this job, Harry." Hermione said.

"We're counting on you to train us, Harry!" Cho said excitedly.

They talked until they came to the Great Hall and proceeded to their own dormitories. Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Ginny continued to discuss their new responsibility until they came to the Gryffindor tower, where a whole lot of people were talking in worried whispers in front of the Fat Lady's portrait.

"What happened?" Harry asked.

"I'll go check it out." Dean volunteered and they watched him squeeze through the many Gryffindor students. "Oh, boy!" They heard him say and watched him squeeze back out of the crowd.

"What's going on, Dean?" Neville questioned worriedly.

"It seems like the Fat Lady's portrait's been turned into a Muggle portrait." Dean explained. "Meaning that it's no longer magical, it won't move or talk or anything!"

Just then, Professor McGonagall arrived with Professor Avalons, "What's going on here?" Professor McGonagall barked. "Move aside!" She gasped at the scene. "Fat Lady... what has happened here?"

Professor Avalons studied the portrait and said, "She's been Immobilized."

"Immobilized?" McGonagall repeated. "What-? How-? Who-? Ooh!! I'll just go find Professor Flitwick..." She turned on her heels and prepared to leave.

Hermioned studied the portrait carefully, "Immobilized...?" She muttered softly under her breath. She took out her wand and pointed it at the Fat Lady, "Morbulus!" She shouted. And the Fat Lady sprang back to life.

Professor McGonagall and Professor Avalons stared in amazement, "Oh, Miss Granger, well done!!" McGonagall exclaimed at last. "Very well, twenty points to Gryffindor. Now, Fat Lady, can you tell us what happened?"

"Yes, I can, Headmistress! You see, I was just waiting here for the students to arrive when someone decided they'd jinx me!" Fat Lady said angrily. "Anyway, password?"

"Marauders," a seventh year Head Boy said.

Harry and Ron looked at each other, eyebrows raised.

Students flooded into the common room and headed straight to bed, only Harry, Ron, and Hermione remained. "Hey, Hermione. How did you know the counter-jinx?" Ron asked.

Hermione blushed, "I didn't, I just remember the spell for the Immobilization Jinx, 'Immorbulus' so I just kind of guessed at the counter-jinx." She went up to her dormitory with a satisfied smile.

Harry and Ron headed for their own dormitory and climbed into their four-posters bed, "What'd I tell you, mad. She guessed the counter-jinx for God's sake! I wouldn't be surprised if more mad things happen."

Harry fell quickly asleep, and he dreamt it again. The tower standing alone, but this time, it's in the center of a forest. Harry traveled up to the top of the tower and heard Voldemort's cold, cruel laughter. There was the glowing sphere, Harry can feel energy coming from the sphere. A silhouette walked out of the sphere, and before Harry had time to recognize who was it, he woke up.
