PITCHER PLANTS OF BORNEO
Pitcher plants ( Nepenthes ) can be found from Madagascar to  Australia. More than 80 species of pitcher plants in this world have been  described by the scientists. In Borneo, there are more than 30 species of  pitcher plants can be found here. They are the climbing plant growing on the  poor soils. The pitcher mouth produces a kind of nectar which attract insect to  seek for the nectar but most of them ended up to be a victim as the pitcher wall  is waxy scales. The insect will fall down to the fluid inside the pitcher and  when it is drown, the body of insect will decomposed and became the nutrients  for the plant. Below are some photos of pitcher plants found by me and my  friends. More Photos of Nepenthes of Sarawak are posted in another website of mine ; the link: www.ibanorum.netfirms.com
