Stanley Kubrick worked on the project on and off in the 90s, eventually deciding to do Eyes Wide Shut instead and when he finished that would produce it while Spielberg directed since he would now be 70 at the time, but he died before this could happen.
At the beginning is Amblin/Stanley Kubrick production. After the credits when no one would see reads 'For Stanley Kubrick'.
Released 6/29/01 meaning the film was completed from start to finish in 2 years, less time than Kubrick spent on preproduction only for his last few films.
