The Astrological Atmosphere
December-January 2008-09 Astrology Report

January 2009 Astrology Report
This is a transitional astrology newsletter. In 2009, as Jupiter moves into Aquarius, we are moving into a new group format with more feature articles by new and familiar contributors.
Dietrech Pessin is a full time career astrologer in the greater Boston area who puts out an excellent weekly web forecast of daily astrological changes. Her weekly radio report can be heard every Saturday at 9:45 a.m. on WZBC 90.3 FM. The show can be streamed via the internet or played from Dietrich's website at www.Lunar-Shadows.com. She is the author of a groundbreaking book Lunar Shadows, the third edition of which went on sale this fall. To join Dietrich's astrology group in Watertown, MA, call 617-924-0929.
Another voice about the coming events "VIEW FOR 2009" comes from Rev. Lucy Wade Barth, a uniquely talented friend who is an artist, psychic, tarot/astrology reader as well as spiritual counselor. Lucy created and developed the Hawaiian Aumakua Cards published by Blue Dolphin Publishing. She has been reading since age 3, and estimates she has given 30,000 readings to date.
"As requested by Linda Clave, I looked at the astrology calendar and also laid out a tarot card reading on December 17, 2008 asking about the year ahead, but only about half the year seems to be coming about psychically. So here is what I feel may be occurring. I see this as a year of change, of new beginnings and hope, measured in a new way, too. Much of the world will be in a wait-and-see mode, at least until August. The July eclipses, Lunar and Solar, will mark a turn in the tides. So much has to occur with actual effort and work and playful moments too, before the next phase is obvious. It is difficult for me to see psychically past mid-August at this time. I assume it is because the wait-and-see attitude needs to unfold to the greater group experiences, before the individual will know what is 'real' – and what is 'hope.' Until then, I suggest holding steady and being kind to yourself and others, too. The fewer expectations we have, the less we are bent out of shape when those expectations are not met. Hope, while being patient, keeps us moving through our doubts and fears. We feel we want to be part of the change, and to do so, we all need to find new ways of measuring what success is. If we measure success by money and possessions only, then this will be a difficult year, especially in mid-April, mid-May and mid-June, and through most of July. It will be a stressful time if success is measured by the things we thought were so important in the past. However, through new ways of looking inward, ways that are kind to our ego selves, ways that don't judge but easily permit second chances, we will find new priorities and new energy to be healed from a very long period of confusion. Communications will become more transparent, especially as many people will not trust so easily, and will look to see if you walk your talk, or put your money where your mouth is. It is especially important to take care to not allow your ego to inflate and exaggerate problems. Instead, listen again, and carefully, to what the other person said. Don't assume you or I or anyone else will know the true meaning of much, but as the priorities shift, and we ask what is real, what is true, what is beautiful, we will see the start of a new way to measure success. We go to amusement parks to experience the fun of the unexpected. I feel this year will have most of us learning new ways to stay alert to a continuous state of the unexpected. So keep up your hopes, without fear. No amount of effort will keep us safe, so just stay open to the new experiences. Blessed be Lucy.
After I looked at the astrology for 2009, I looked at a tarot card reading for the same time period. Above is the summary I came to. And here is the breakdown of how and why I perceive it this way. Things I noticed astrologically start with the Solar Eclipse on January 26 with Jupiter in close within 2 degrees. Maybe this will expand thinking and add kindness into the mix of energy building up to the Presidential Inauguration. The retrograde Mercury starting on January 11 will make for a lot of confusing conversations the rest of the month. Mars is out-of-bounds in January until the 15th which increases aggressive actions. Both economic and political issues concerning wars and other critical problems will be faced by world leaders. Fear and uncertainty may wave over the crowds of once hopeful people. There will be much needed time for meditation or prayers for the good of all. Hope, not for individual needs but for those of the masses, will be focused on the new administration. A very visible Lunar Eclipse on February 9, 2009, with other early morning planets in view will have a softening effect, a time to turn inward and evaluate our personal conditions. In April I feel there will be great tensions around the Full Moon, especially with Passover and Easter occurring at the same time. Venus is moving retrograde from 0 degrees of Aries into 29 degrees Pisces at that time as well. I feel it will be a time full of secret "undoings." And for some impatient parts of the world there will be attempts to cause stress and pain. It is right before taxes are due in the USA and with all the people worried about their jobs and how changes are occurring in work situations worldwide, no one will feel like they are in control. I feel the solar eclipse on July 21 at 29 degrees Cancer will deepen sensitive situations. People will be grasping for far-out ideas to try. The retrograde planets Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto will put stress on world leaders with only Saturn in direct motion requiring discipline to maintain order. Mercury will be out-of-bounds in July as well causing tensions between males and females in their personal lives. Frustrations over materialistic issues will grow even stronger. A need to feel beauty for self and home may cause many touchy moments in families. It may feel as if we have doors opening and closing and opening again, all going so fast, that we will need to redesign our sense of space.
Now let's review the TAROT CARD READING for 2009. This is my adapted Tarot Card layout I have been using for over thirty years (and over thirty thousand readings), so I use a lot of cards to get a complete focus. It is so much easier in person, speaking, opening to energy with insights, so I understand my own expectation for the reader of this to jump with me in insights. Page of Cups covering, with Eight of Wands crossing, the FOOL beneath, Ace of Wands behind and HERMIT on top and STAR in the immediate future. Up the side is Three of Cups in the home, TEMPERANCE in as people see it, Six of Swords in hope and fears, and HANGED MAN as outcome. This is much like the normal Celtic spread. The extra three, above the outcome card, are to give a past present and future to the outcome card. In this spread they are King of Pentacles, Page of Wands and LOVERS. I have added a bottom seven, as roots to the past and future. They are Eight of Swords, Seven of Pentacles, King of Wands, Page of Pentacles, Knight of Cups, the MOON and the Six of Cups. And final upturn, that is flipping the deck over for the bottom card, in this case it is the Eight of Pentacles. There are seven MAJOR cards in this reading indicating CHANGE. The STAR is a light of hope for the public and private lives of people worldwide. Yet the MOON, another heavenly illumination, often represents subconscious fears present as well. The LOVERS and TEMPERANCE are angels helping the situation by bringing in chance after chance to try again. They often are together in a reading where much is forgiven, and energy for new beginnings is strengthened. The HERMIT, FOOL, and HANGED MAN together in a reading usually mean turning over a new leaf: finding a new way to measure success, effort and rewards. They also signify that, with a new beginning comes the need to meditate, pray and think outside the old boxes. So we are lucky in that none of the major 'testing cards,' DEATH, THE TOWER, or THE DEVIL, have shown up, nor high Swords either. Therefore this is not a time of death and doom, but rather a time of choosing to become strong again, a time to regroup, a time to work together to encourage new growth and ideas. Sometimes impossible expectations represented in the FOOL card, and near the STAR card, can mean that there may be surprises and sudden forced changes. In the long run these will be good changes. Maybe the hard part involves being able to surrender our egos, with the HANGED MAN card. Learn to use the new viewpoint of the HERMIT, not emotional but careful observation helps us sort out our opportunities for good change. Probably it will be full of hard work (Eight of Pentacles) and fresh starts (Ace of Wands), assisted by the TEMPERANCE card to complete the transformations by individuals with the attitude of "we can." I feel the significance of the Eight of Pentacles as the upturn card at the end, is that the bottom line is WORK. The Eight of Wands crossing everything is communication, and that will be on all levels, over and over again: we will all be working on how we express our truth (STAR card is the naked truth as the best way to be safe). The possibility of new jobs, (with so many planets in Aquarius, maybe even jobs no one ever thought of!) and the government's ability to create jobs, with the mix of astrology and cards and psychic energy will find new work for the people who have been laid off from jobs. Work will become available, and rewarded too. More fun with the Three of Cups in the home spot. The HERMIT and FOOL and HANGED MAN together seem to want the individual to look inward and gain wisdom by their own personal experiences. The STAR is the 'ah hah!' we say when we suddenly see the promised success as real. The STAR is the hope, and the TEMPERANCE Angel is the slow healing and patient path. During the next few months a lot will be expected by the people of the world, and the Seven and Eight of Pentacles will be the planting of new seeds and the work to manifest the goals. The Ace of Wands is the new beginning and new measuring stick, and the Eight of Wands is all the communication going on about it all. These eights call for us to hold steady, keep working, planning and planting new seeds for growth with the Seven of Pentacles and the seven major cards. Sevens and eights are past the mid-way point but don't represent a final conclusion yet. The Three of Cups and Six of Cups indicate the strength and interest in the home, and hearts full of sharing new ambitions (STAR). We hope to have some fun and friends that will support us, yet with the FOOL card nearby, and LOVERS and TEMPERANCE cards too, we may be doing more forgiving and second chances. It is the combination of the cards at work that make the reading. I feel many expectations will be readjusted by reality. The three pages in the reading show that many people will be doing things they are learning on the job. And the one Knight of Cups is protected by armor but looking for love, so there will be a search for those who hold a steadfast plan and hope, but need to be protected on their journeys to move through unknown conditions and untested friendships too. The outcome card, the HANGED MAN with the King of Pentacles and Page of Wands and LOVERS above the HANGED MAN, for me represents the wise old King of the past needing to help the new Pages who are anxious to be active, and the LOVERS are the new partnerships that are having to surrender their old patterns and think outside the old boxes to be active together in new partnerships for the future. The Six of Swords in hopes and fears, is the leaving of the old cronies of Bush, and the leaving of the people from so many jobs, and the leaving of so many homes into foreclosure, and the leaving of old expectations, and many more small ways of going from the familiar into the wait-and-see of the HANGED MAN, that place of suspended judgments, with prayer, meditative and even existential views. We are in a constantly changing world, and we are constantly having our experiences in it. So live, love, laugh and be happy. Change is a good word for our time. Hopefully your own insights will guide you well in this coming year. Blessed be Lucy Barth of Ashland Oregon. Peace, Love, Joy, Bliss, Thanks."
This month's Full Moon on January 10 is followed the next day, January 11, with Mercury, the fast-moving communicator, stationing retrograde. We seem to be speeding up only to slow down with the ruler of Capricorn, Saturn, also in retrograde motion as of December 31. So now we have a vast number of developing crises that demand time for internal digestion and integration. The Sun enters Aquarius January 19. Then on January 20 is the long-awaited inauguration of President-Elect Obama. January 26 is the culmination of the month with a New Moon Solar Eclipse. This is also the Chinese New Year and the beginning of the Year of the Ox. But Mars and Pluto in Capricorn have dominated the stage since their conjunction at the New Moon in Capricorn on December 27. The Gaza War is an aggressive example of this combination. Here we find Pluto Ray One: power, is driven by Mars Ray Six: fanatical devotion to an ideal or cause. Nationally the economy is the still the number one issue amidst hope that Obama, with his Aquarian team moving into the White House, has the will and chops to pull together strategies for long-term, healthy solutions. President Obama has an Aquarius Ascendant with his Leo Sun in the Seventh House of relationships. He thrives on his interaction with others, be they friends or adversaries.
The Full Moon is on January 10 with 26 Virgo 21 rising over Washington, DC. The Moon at 21 Cancer in the Tenth House of the executive opposes the Sun at 21 Capricorn in the Fourth House of home/homeland which Pluto and Mars (fuel to the fire) are currently transiting. Emotional reactions run high. The public is ready, eager and hopeful for this change of administration in the White House. Yet, unconscious anxiety is still rising with the Ruler of the Sun, Saturn, at 21 Virgo sitting retrograde in the Twelfth House in opposition to Uranus in Pisces in the Sixth House. Jobs, work and health care are very edgy issues. The Fifth House has a lot riding on the incoming team backing up President Elect Obama. In the Fifth House Jupiter is now at 1 Aquarius; Mercury, ruler of the Ascendant, is about to station at 7 Aquarius 44, with the North Node at 9 Aquarius; and the conjunction of Chiron at 19 Aquarius and Neptune at 22 Aquarius. What a great idealistic bunch! They will need time to integrate.
January 11. Mercury stations retrograde at 7 Aquarius 44 and remains retrograde until February 1 at 21 Capricorn 45 (degree of the Full Moon January 10). The emphasis is on establishing a new executive order, which also means reviewing the past administration and dealing with the Bush exit legislation, which has left many very disturbed. Individually this is a good time to review your work situation and open yourself to the new directions that are taking shape.
January 19. The Sun enters Aquarius. This is a new dawn as the Sun sheds it light on Mercury, Jupiter, the North Node, Chiron and Neptune, and all are joined in this collective sign of group work, brotherhood and humanitarian service. From the 2007 report: "Understanding Aquarius: the Sign and the Symbol."
Be careful here; although Aquarius is the "Water Bearer," it is not a water sign. It is the last of the fixed signs on the fixed cross initiated by Taurus, the bull, on through Leo, the lion, Scorpio, the scorpion, and finally Aquarius. Fixed signs are at the center where we become responsible for the results of action taken. There is great power and strength within when we become focused and centered. A glyph of two wavy lines, one on top of the other represents Aquarius, collective air. It is the summation of the three air signs; for in Aquarius, universal and natural laws are the guiding principle. Here, too, are the building blocks of knowledge, the hope for universal brotherhood and freedom from ignorance. Aquarius maintains the ever-evolving plans for human evolution. Above, the higher laws of the universe vibrate; while below they vibrate to natural law. Freedom is the cry here but it requires being responsive to these laws that give the desired results. Aquarius is the place of scientific procedure with both Saturn and Uranus as co-rulers. Science and discovery first require discipline, organization and testing before taking the leap into the unknown. Our society is built on this process. Morality and conscience determine the use of these discoveries. We must choose service to humanity and the planet, or opt for darkness and destruction. The choice is ours to make as we move more and more into the age of science, the Aquarian Age.
January 26. The Annular Solar Eclipse at 6 Aquarius 30 with 2 Sagittarius 18 rising over Washington, DC. It is all about change: the exiting of the old and the placement of hope and faith in the new, but with a wait-and-see attitude. Each eclipse is either aligned with the North or the South Node of the Moon. North Node eclipses are moving toward new/future possibilities, while South Node eclipses are erasing the past, and so often are concerned with losses.
From Bernadette Brady's book, Predictive Astrology:
The Eagle and the Lark, copyright 1999 by Red Wheel/Weiser, LLC.
"This Eclipse is a North Node eclipse, Saros Series 11 North.
New Moon = Uranus/Node
Jupiter = Venus/Saturn
Under the influence of this family of eclipses, individuals may suddenly change the groups with which they are mixing, either through travel or ideas. However, the separation implied by the Venus/Saturn would produce very positive outcomes. This whole eclipse Series could also talk of suddenly deciding to make greater commitments in a relationship. Either way the eclipse is gentle and individuals can trust the situations that arise and allow themselves to be led along by their momentum."
The Chinese Earth Ox New Year from www.cliff.com:
"Ox years occur every 12 years but vary in element.
1913, 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021, 2033.
Ox personality traits
Still waters run deep, as anyone who has observed an Ox will tell you.
People born in the Year of the Ox are the supremely self-assured, and as a result are noted for inspiring confidence in others. Generally patient and thoughtful, they measure their words, and will speak clearly and concisely often when it matters most.
Born to lead, Ox people can be quite stubborn – but also stubbornly loyal to those they love. However, when opposed, their fierce tempers are legendary. So always follow this very wise advice: never cross an Ox!
Famous Ox: Barack Obama
Generally placid and easy-going on the outside, the Ox can be very dogmatic. There are no gray areas evident within their narrow scope of vision, and they often only see things as good or bad. Therefore, they are never easily persuaded by a clever argument. Possessing an excellent memory, the Ox can often recall verbatim a conversation weeks or months after it has occurred.
Their physical stamina combined with their mental alertness is a distinct advantage when it comes to completing any task at hand. In fact, Oxen can often be seen patiently working away ... long after everyone else has dropped from sheer exhaustion!
Ox people are also generally good with their hands, and together with sterling leadership abilities are often successful as doctors or surgeons, construction managers, army generals or business leaders.
Oxen are most compatible with: Rat, Snake, Rooster
Famous people born in the Year of the Ox: Johann Sebastian Bach, Napoleon Bonaparte, Charlie Chaplin, George Clooney, Walt Disney, Anton Dvorak, Clark Gable, George Frideric Handel, Oscar De La Hoya, Richard Nixon, Barack Obama, Aishwarya Rai, Wayne Rooney, Vincent Van Gogh."
This is an Earth Ox year from www.wikipedia.org :
In traditional Chinese philosophy, Earth is classified as one of the Wu xing (Chinese: ; pinyin: wxng), or the Five Elements, also translated as five phases, five movements or five steps, by which all natural phenomena can be explained. The system of five elements was used for describing interactions and relationships between phenomena. It was employed in many fields of early Chinese thought, including seemingly disparate fields such as geomancy and Feng shui, astrology, traditional Chinese medicine, Chinese alchemy, music, military strategy and martial arts. The original foundation for the idea is based on the concept of the Five Cardinal Points.
Earth is a balance of both yin and yang, the feminine and masculine together. Its motion is inward and centering, and its energy is stabilizing and conserving. It is associated with the color yellow and the planet Saturn, and it lies at the center of the compass in the Chinese cosmos. It is associated with the turn of each of the four seasons and with damp. It is believed to govern the spleen, stomach, mouth and muscles. Its negative emotion is anxiety and its positive emotion is empathy. Its Primal Spirit is represented by the Yellow Dragon.
In Chinese thought Earth is associated with the qualities of patience, thoughtfulness, practicality, hard work and stability. The earth element is also nurturing and seeks to draw all things together with itself, in order to bring harmony, rootedness and stability. Other attributes of the earth element include ambition, stubbornness, responsibility and long-term planning. In pathology, the earth can represent selfishness and self-centeredness. In the controlling cycle earth controls water and is controlled by wood; while in the conducive cycle earth is produced by fire, and in turn produces metal.
Earth plays an important role in Chinese Astrology. In Chinese astrology earth is included in the 10 heavenly stems (the five elements in their yin and yang forms), which combine with the 12 earthly branches (or Chinese signs of the zodiac), to form the 60-year cycle. Yang earth years end in 8 (e.g., 1998), while Yin earth years end in 9 (e.g., 1999).
The element earth is associated with the planet Saturn on account of its yellow color. However, some Western astrologers have suggested that the Western associations of Saturn give it greater affinity with the rigid, controlling Chinese element of Metal; while the Chinese conception of earth as a centering, harmonizing element has more in common with the Western notion of the planet Venus.
Peter Kubaska has contributed this piece on Pluto in Capricorn in relationship to the US chart:
CAPRICORN
Fighting for Spiritual Values — We've all heard of the Path of the Warrior, but what does this mean? Armageddon is not a conclusive catastrophe but the steady-state affairs of unregenerate humanity — the ongoing chaos of warring idealisms. We see politicians attempting to use crises for mediocre goals and narrow self-will — yet they are evolving too. How does one evaluate motives and negotiate costs?
What can explain the present world financial crisis but an unbridled and gross materialism. The present crisis of trust and misuse of financial instruments is due to decades of materialist and political elements persuading government to treat citizens as consumers (while the majority acquiesced), succumbing to the political ploys of financially-interested lobbyists. This focus on a consumerist waste machine, presumed to be infinite in scope, is why we see no inclusion of private citizens on financial restructuring panels C as someone has suggested, a sort of jury duty.
These are all lower expressions of Capricorn ambition, attachment to power a.k.a. ends justify means, financial and political ascendancy and predominance, forces native to the underworld, prestige, presumption, credibility and status anxiety. The tail end of Capricorn is what faces the challenges of material attachment and fossilization, entrenched reactionary force, and the attraction of the inevitable crystallizing and shattering karmic boomerang. Karma is simply action and its results. Stupid, greedy and non-cooperative attitudes will only invite the same from the environment thus an unavoidable self-injury and cascading destruction.
The higher expression of Capricorn always demands a new cycle of effort and struggle. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the Lord of Karma which forces us to face up to the past and prepare for the future. The ambitious human animal becomes the aspiring soul and spirit, symbolized by the Unicorn. All of America is aspiring to better norms and conditions. It is said that the (Aries) Idea in the Mind of God becomes the Plan in Capricorn. Nous, or the Mind of God, is said to rule through the air signs Gemini, Libra and Aquarius. These are the influences we need in the present situation, plus the determined goodwill to bring in the true and the Good.
In April 2000, the 20-year Grand Trigon cycle (Jupiter conjunct Saturn) in Taurus, conjunct the Pleiades, brought in the actors that would bring these material issues to a crisis point in 2008. The Pleiades were said to be on the meridian when Troy fell, for instance. (Esoterically, the Pleiades rule the matter aspect in consort with the spirit aspect ruled by Ursa Major, the Great Bear or Drinking Gourd.) Instead of concentrating on the past, it will be best to look forward and plan for the Grand Trigon of 2020, which will be in Aquarius.
The financial crisis turned into a kind of panic in year 2008 as Pluto entered Capricorn (January), and political and economic actors scrambled to maintain appearances and avoid legal dismemberment, while the public at large saw how very little they mattered to the factotums of influence. Unfortunately, Mars was in Cancer opposite Pluto and retrograde at the time, the worst timing for taking successful initiatives. Wall Street greeds were simply determined to steer straight for the rocks on their ship of self-interest.
This type of obdurate and ambitious Capricornian gambling with lives and resources is presently illustrated in the Israeli-Palestinian internecine conflict, locked in a codependent sado-masochistic brotherly embrace for 60 years our own Sixty Years War, apparently competing with that Reformation sporting event of the Catholics and Protestants in the 1600s. Israel decided to gamble with other peoples lives this December when 5 planets were in Capricorn, particularly the Sun, Mars and Pluto. Capricorn and Pisces both rule Israel. It could have had the sense to exercise more mature, ingenious, and diplomatic means to a common-interest end. Instead, its thuggish defense minister forced a bloody gamble that will boomerang to its own self-injury and long-term exclusion from civilized credibility. Those tall defensive and exclusionary walls are often found as a kind of exoskeleton in Cancer and Capricorn types, the scuttling crab and those butting horns. One has to ask oneself and society, what does this really mean psychologically and socially, and is it really necessary among mature actors on the world stage?
Pluto is a generational planet that takes a bit less than 250 years to go through the signs. It is the great symbol of the Unconscious which operated generationally through the interaction of an increasing number of group-conscious individuals and groups with the mass of unconscious and self-interested humans, unredeemed by lack of contact with their own souls. Hence the timing of this worldwide Capricornian financial crisis, and the recent episode of soccer violence in Israel.
Moving from a Piscean to an Aquarian Age, we can expect a rapid growth in group-consciousness, for which internet and multimedia instant-communication is but a precursor. It is easy to see why the American people chose to vote as they did. All the rubbish of Wall Street was in clear sight. But so was the inspiration and aspiration of group cooperation for survival, headed by a truly American/multiracial presidential candidate who spoke for intelligent cooperation and unity, a great stalwart vice-presidential candidate with an exemplary record, and an enduring promise for women in the cabinet who had promoted normal health and welfare for decades.
Esoteric Astrology relegates the standard Cancer/Sagittarius U.S. chart to its capitol Washington DC. This is the chart of the status quo establishment of elites who are materialistic, believe in a gamblers non-rationalized casino capitalism, and would like to enforce a passive consumership over active citizenship. Pluto was found at 27 Capricorn for the standard US Chart of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Pluto represents will-to-power and in Capricorn it can be rigid and brittle in lower-grade or your typical mundane ambitious types. As to a single-day chart, the decision and vote for independence took place two days earlier, on 2 July, prompting John Adams to suggest celebrating that day instead of the 4th of July.
Esoterically, however, America is said to have a Personality ruled by GEMINI and a Soul ruled by AQUARIUS. Let me explain why. Nations are composed of numerous groups who must live together or fall into civil strife. Groups and nations are built and exist over generations, so personally I find a single day for the astrological chart of a nation sort of rationally unsustainable. The United States represents groups with conflicting ideals and interests, high and low, brought together in a federation of states. America was and is a group effort brought to birth over a 20C30 year period when Pluto was in Capricorn and Aquarius, and Uranus was found between Gemini and Leo. Saturn occupied Libra from the Battle of Concord Bridge, through the formation of the Continental Army and the Declaration of War, to the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the period where the Articles of Confederation were being argued by the states. Libra is the one sign where growth and evolution do not take place through a series of crises. Libra presents growth through the establishment of balance and free-will mediated choice. Libra represents the rule of Law, so maligned and manipulated by recent administrations.
Lets take a look at:
Pluto in Capricorn (1762C1777) and Aquarius (1777C1797) and
Uranus in Gemini (1774C1781), Cancer (1781C1787), and Leo (1787C1794).
Uranus entered Gemini close to the First Continental Congress of 1774 and remained there at least until the ratification of the Articles of Confederation in 1781, the year Uranus was discovered by Herschel (March 13), close to its north node in early Gemini. In October of that year Cornwallis was defeated at Yorktown VA, which essentially ended the War of Independence, consolidated with Franklins Peace of Paris in 1782C84.
The last real attempt at negotiation with Great Britain and the Six Iroquois Nations (through a royal continental assembly of colonial delegates) took place in Albany with Franklins Plan of Union of July 1754. It failed and was succeeded by the French and Indian Wars of 1756C1763. Pluto was in Sagittarius.
The major struggle for independence took place with Pluto in Capricorn, for instance, at 3 degrees in 1764 when the NY colony Legislature petitioned against taxation by Great Britain. Pluto continued in Capricorn throughout the revolutionary years until 1778 when the Articles of Confederation were signed with Pluto at 0 degrees of Aquarius.
The major work and results of our independence took place with Pluto in Aquarius the U.S. Constitution (1787, 1789), a presidency in place of a king (1789), and the Bill of Rights (1789, 1791, 1868). France, a Leo nation (Pisces soul, Leo personality), decided to have its Revolution (September 1792) when Pluto and Uranus opposed each other in Aquarius and Leo respectively. Pluto rules Pisces on the soul level of this advanced nation, who introduced a simultaneous Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen in 1789.
The United States has not seen a Pluto in Capricorn/Aquarius transition since it became a nation. Pluto remains in Capricorn from 2008C2023 and will occupy Aquarius from 2023C2043. Lets hope for another good start!
