NARCISSA:
Narcissa sat at the end of the Slytherin table, pointedly ignoring everyone, including her sister, and any and all cousins of hers that might be in the Great Hall at the moment. She just wanted to get a little breakfast in before facing down the Wicked Bitch of the West in DADA
LILY:
Lily had overslept a bit, and rushed to get reday; she didn't want to be late on her first day of class. She thew her hair up in a messy bun, grabbed her things and ran down the stairs. She noticed the common room was empty, 'Great, everyone's already at the greathall.' She thought to herself as she climbed through the portrait hole.
There were lots of students in the hallway, she waved at a few and continued her way to breakfast. She was fairly hungry and wanted to have time for a muffin before class started. She arrived at the great hall to find it almost full of students who were talking excitedly about being back at school. Lily felt at home, she loved Hogwarts. She looked down the Gryffindor table and noticed a few of her friends sitting there, she took a seat next to them. "Morning!" She grabbed a muffin, "How's the schedules look?" she asked while looking around on the table for hers.
JAMES:
James awoke unwillingly, and gingerly arose from his bed. While he accidentally put his shirt on backwards, wondered if maybe opening the year with a friendly party and a friendly keg of butterbeer had in fact been a good idea. Well, Life's what you make of it, he supposed. Can't let it run by without having fun.
As he walked down to the Great Hall, it occurred to him that he'd forgotten to comb his hair--again. Drearily, he ran his hand through it, hoping it would make him look somewhat presentable. He wouldn't want to make a bad impression on his frist day back at school, ironic as it may sound for a student with a four-year record of pranks.
The first thing he saw as he entered the magnificent room was, of course, Lily. He felt his heart jolt, and stepped back out into the hallway, to re-fluff his hair. Straightening himself up, and decidedly feeling more confident, he re-stepped into the Great Hall, as the ringleader of the major pranksters of the school.
"Morning!"
She grabbed a muffin, "How's the schedules look?" she asked while looking around on the table for hers.
James luckily saw Lily's schedule before she did, and snagged it off the table, quickly found his own, and started comparing the two--as loudly as possible so that Lily knew he had her schedule.
"Hmm...looks like we have four class periods together this year. What luck! We only had three spots together last year..." He held the slips of paper tightly, prepared to lift them up into the air if Lily tried to take them back from him.
TAKUTO:
Takuto hummed along his way to the Great Hall, with a slight spring in his step. Yesterday, he'd come up with guitar lick that he thought was absolutely delectable--and had been humming it ever since, just because he liked it so much. He swiftly took his regular spot at the Ravenclaw table, and began chewing on oat bread, attempting to hum at the same time. Although the sound didn't quite sound right, he remained in a good mood.
ERIN:
An auburn haired young woman sat quietly near the edge of the Gryffindor table. She neither appeared thrilled or agitated of the looming year ahead. Instead she calmly slipped at a goblet and nibbled at her breakfast. Soon enough her schedule was passed to her and she shoved the last piece of her toast in her mouth and studied it intently. Clear deep midnight eyes turned toward a certain prankster loudly announcing he had something of Lily's. Erin McKenzie shook her head slightly and turned back to her own breakfast. Poor Lily... she thought as she popped another spoonful of oatmeal into her mouth.
LILY:
Lily sighed, 'It starts already...'
"4 this year, I guess that's a good thing." she paused a moment and looked at him, "knowing where you are makes it easier to avoid you." She reached over and tried to grab her schedule from his hands, "Give it here James!" She stated when he snapped it back from her.
SIRIUS:
Sirius chuckled as he saw James and Lily already fighting. James needed a life, or maybe Lily needed to get a clue and accept his advances. "And how are the two lovebirds today?" he said, dropping down into a seat next to James, reaching for some toast, knowing the 'lovebirds' comment would infuriate Lily.
REMUS:
Happy for another year at Hogwarts, Remus sauntered into the Great Hall, trying to walk and read 'Understanding Ancient Runes' By Helra Odin at the same time. Hen reached the Gryffindor table just in time to see Sirius teasing James and Lily.
"Well. It sure looks like nothing's changed much for those two, has it?" he grinned, giving Sirius an affectionate pat on the arm. He didn't think anything would change for him until recently, when he'd become closer to Sirius, James and Peter.
Remus put down his book and sat down next to another auburn haired girl who was watching them. "Good morning..er~" He combed his memory for her name and suddenly smiled. "You're Erin. Erin McKenszie, right?"
SIRIUS:
Sirius grinned at Remus when he sat down. This promised to be a smashing year, with the Marauders at school again. Idly, he wondered if they'd be able to surpass last year's record of breaking the rules. Knowing them, probably.
He glanced at the book Remus had been reading and shook his xhead. Remus was still the bookworm he had always been. "Starting to run for the ladies?" he said in a low voice so that only Remus could hear him. "Hide the book, you don't want to scare her..."
FRANK:
Frank Longbottom sat down at the Gryffindor table near the prankster fanatics of the school. He couldn't help but smile when he saw the James and Lily bickering once more. He grabbed a toast and spread jam all over it and munched away happily.
TONITRUS:
Tonitrus sat quietly at the head table as he forked some eggs into his mouth. His sharp eyes wandered across the Great Hall as he studied the new and familiar faces of student population. The absolutely devastating pranksters of Hogwarts were already causing slight scene with their arguments. He himself did not mind them that much, but when a joke was directed at him, he did more than just take away a few points and some detentions. He would prank them back if he had to. It all depended on the severity of prank. He had done one without the Headmaster's approval, but when he apologized, Albus had told him that he didn't mind and that he found it quite funny. A tiny smile spread across his face as he thought of the past and he quickly went back to his breakfast.
LILY:
"Is it really necessary for you to egg him on like that? You're always doing it!" She looked back at James, "Now give it here James, don't make me give you a detention." She smirked and looked down at her prefect badge, she knew it would come in handy in dealing with Jame's pranks.
SIRIUS:
"What are best friends there for, Lily?" Sirius asked her with a grin, nudging James slightly. "Already giving out detention...ahh, power corrupts doesn't it..."
He noticed Frank sitting down and grinned at him. "Hey Frank...learnt any more unpronouncable plant names since last time we saw you?"
ERIN + REMUS:
A loose strand of hair fell slightly into Erin's eyes as she snapped her head up and turned to the voice suddenly beside her. A small smile pulled at the corner of her mouth. "Good morning, yes though most people call me Phoe-
"Phoenix McKenzie! You're helping me in potions if you like it or not!" A light brown, pig tailed girl slammed a heavy book down on the table on Erin's other side, her soft features flushed red. "I hate that git! Oh... oops forgive my..."
"Loudness?" Erin offered as she recovered from the unexpected interruption and rattling plate. The girl blushed and eyed Remus for a second, a smile spreading across her face.
"Yup, sorry Phoe. But you do agree?" Erin smiled and nodded.
"Morgan Blair this is..." It was her turn to seek out his name, but the other two where well known... She didn't hesitate as long as the young man did. "Remus Lupin another Gryffindor fifth year."
"Hiya Remus, nice to meet ya." She shook hands with him. "I'll talk to you later Phoe. Remember I'm holding you to your word!" The young girl picked up her potions book and waved, heading up the table she smiled at Sirius softly. "Hi Sirius, have a nice summer?" She asked.
ALDEBRA:
Aldebra had awoken early, and was one of the first students in the great hall. She chose a seat in the middle of the Ravenclaw table, and took out a book to read - there was no food on the table yet. She had gotten so wrapped up in her reading, she hadn't noticed the hall begin to fill with students, by the time she looked up almost everyone had arrived.
She noticed the Gryffindor table was at it already, and she blushed when she noticed one of them (hehe... she has a crush!). She went into a quick day dream, before she was snapped out of it by a fellow student dropping their drink in her lap, <"Oh no! I'm dreadfully sorry!! My first day... is there anything I can do?> The girl said looking rather worried. Aldebra believed her to be a first yeat.
Aldebra took out her wand. "It's ok, I've got it." She pointed her want at her lap, "Scourgify!" and the juice dissapeared; she looked good as new. "See, no need to worry."
<"Wow! That's unbelievable!"> The girl looked as though she had never seen magic before.... 'Ah, yes, a Muggleborn.'
"You'll learn it soon enough." She said and smiled, "I'm Aldebra, I'm a prefect for Ravenclaw, if you need anything feel free to ask." With that she stood up, smiled at the girl and walked towards the Gryffindor table.
She thought it would be the perfect oppurtunity to be the first to pull a prank on the infamous marauders, she pointed her wand to Sirius's foot, "evincio funiculus pes pedis" she whispered, then put her wand away quickly for she had arrived next to them. "Morning, how's everyone?" She asked happily.
LILY:
"What are best friends there for, Lily. Already giving out detention...ahh, power corrupts doesn't it..."
"Ha, I for one wouldn't abuse my authority. I hope the same goes for you Remus! You really have got to set an example now." She doubted he heard her, for he was talking with a girl who was unfamiliar to Lily.
"Hey Frank...learnt any more unpronouncable plant names since last time we saw you?" Lily looked down the table, she hadn't noticed Frank was there already.
"Hullo Frank, have a nice summer?"
HECATE:
Hecate flipped through the pages of the magazine as she walked to the Great Hall for breakfast. Her eyes were simply alive with cutesy delight, just as if she were some other fanciful girl looking at the post-up pictures of those guys they put in those super-girly magazines...you know. She flipped to the next page--
"--Horntail!! oh, that scale pattern is just so pretty!! Mmm!!" She hugged the magazine labeled "Beastiary Monthly" to her chest, with the number-one article written on the left: "Dragons: Winged Beauty or Frightful Abbatoirs?"
Obviously, Hecate was not some other fanciful girl.
She couldn't depart from looking at the picture for long, though, and she entered the Great Hall with face still embedded in the wonderous picture of Precious Horntail in the process of ripping up a cow.
Don't people ever learn never to be completely absorbed in articles about accidents waiting to happen when walking?
*bump*
"A-aah!!" Hecate fell down from surprise, magazine dropped in the moment. She flushed up embarrasedly, then grasped for her magazine. She then looked back up at the person she'd run into-
"I-I'm so---sorry?"
SIRIUS:
"Hey Morgan," Sirius said, brushing dark hair out of his eyes. "It wasn't too bad for a summer...how was yours? Already gearing up for potions?" He looked around as Aldebra approached them. "Don't you dare take any of our Gryffindor food, you thief of a Ravenclaw," he teased her, pretending to be protecting the table from thieving students. First day of school and already so many students around them, especially pretty girls. Sirius was quite used to being one of the four in the limelight, barely realizing that theirs was one of the most crowded spots in the Hall.
FRANK:
Frank looked up startled at the sudden call. he quickly swallowed the food in his mouth and smiled as he thought about the plants he had learned about over the summer. "My mum took me to this great orchid called 'Arbor Portus'! The place was great! I found a tree called 'Memoriola Peredo'. It looked like a dead tree, except it had these dark purple flowers growing from the branches. They said whoever sleeps under them will lose their memories one by one. My mum said that tree was horrible, but I thought it was quite fascinating!"
ARIANNA:
"Ow!" Arianna sat rubbing her behind as she winced in slight pain. "Ooh...You should watch where going next time..Argh, my poor bum..." She looked at the girl she had bumped into. "You alright?"
JAMES:
"4 this year, I guess that's a good thing." she paused a moment and looked at him, "knowing where you are makes it easier to avoid you." She reached over and tried to grab her schedule from his hands, "Give it here James!" She stated when he snapped it back from her.
James managed to keep the paper out of her grasp, holding it way over and smiling like an idiot. "Aww...but I just got to look at it!"
"And how are the two lovebirds today?" he said, dropping down into a seat next to James, reaching for some toast, knowing the 'lovebirds' comment would infuriate Lily.
James grinned. "Well, we're just looking at each others schedules together. Aren't we cute?"
"Is it really necessary for you to egg him on like that? You're always doing it!" She looked back at James, "Now give it here James, don't make me give you a detention."
What are best friends there for, Lily?" Sirius asked her with a grin, nudging James slightly. "Already giving out detention...ahh, power corrupts doesn't it..."
James pretended to look insulted at Lily's comment. "You would use your prefect power against me like that? To tarnish my detention-less record? Such actions don't befit you, lily!" he said, grinning. She sure was fun to tease.
SIRIUS:
James grinned. "Well, we're just looking at each others schedules together. Aren't we cute?"
Sirius shook his head at James and Lily. They really were cute together. If she didn't give in at the end, he'd eat his hat. One he'd buy specially for the occasion.
James pretended to look insulted at Lily's comment. "You would use your prefect power against me like that? To tarnish my detention-less record? Such actions don't befit you, lily!" he said, grinning. She sure was fun to tease.
Sirius grinned. Detentions were a pain, but they were more than used to them by now. "I say we form a committee to make sure Lily keeps her feet on the ground and make sure she doesn't start abusing her power too much," he advised James with a straight face.
Sirius stared bemusedly at Frank. "You would...mind you, I'm sure it would be very useful. How long would you have to sleep under it to forget that you go to school with Snivellus?"
HECATE:
"I...I...ah..."
Hecate was stunned. The girl she'd just run into was absolutely gorgeous and pretty!
/OMYGOSH!/
Hecate started to flush much further in her face, and tried to cover the bottom half of her face with the magazine that she had recovered
/I-I can't let her see me blush! NO!/
"Uh...wh-who are you?" Hecate stammered out nervously and embarrasedly...
/...I can't beleive I just did that--I hit on her!!/
That thought made the previously pink turn to a colorful crimson. The magazine was by no measure enough.
REMUS:
"Okay, hm...Phoenix then. Nice to know."
Remus smiled as he saw the way the girl's eyes lit up for Sirius the moment she noticed him.
"Typical." he mused, under his breath. Girls were naturally drawn to his dark handsome friend. He'd given up on competing with that a long time ago.
He reached for a piece of toast, absentmindedly munching on it as he re-opened his textbook.
SIRIUS:
"Moony, it's the first day of school," Sirius said, hand reaching for the textbook and taking it out of his friend's hand. "I refuse to let you look at books so early. Can't you enjoy at least just the first day of school?" he asked, slightly exasperated, happy to see that his werewolf friend was the same as ever. He flicked through it. "What is it anyway?"
ARIANNA:
Arianna grinned at the girl."The name's Arianna Gale." She stood up and raised her hand, offering to help her up. "What's your name?"
FRANK:
Frank smiled and then pretended to be in thought. "Ohh....I'd say till the world ends. Who can forget his greasy hair and giant nose. That'll be a hard image to forget if I do say so myself."
HECATE:
Hecate flushed as the girl offered her hand to her.
"H...Hecate. Hecate Petrus Figroot Sphynx." Hecate then grabbed Arianna's hand, and *most profusely flushed* stood up. "I-I'm s-sorry about not l-l-looking" She sputtered, looking down at the floor, "I m-mean, I was...I was just l-looking through th-this, a-and.." Hecate held out the magazine to Arianna, picture fully unfolded.
/Please let her not misunderstand, please let her not misunderstand!/ Hecate fervently wished. Arianna seemed like...such a nice person, and all that... *blusherz! even more blusherz!!*
ARIANNA:
Arianna's eyes skimmed over the magazine that Hecate held out for her. "So this is why you weren't looking." Her smile grew bigger and her eyes sparkled." Beastiary Monthly eh? That's one of my favorite magazines! You're one of the first girls that I met who actually reads this!"
HECATE:
Hecate's eyes lit with surprise.
"Really, you read it too?" she enthusisastically inquired, "It's my favorite, too! It's so rare to find other girls who like it, I know!"
Ebarrassment slipped away, as Hecate realized; /we share something in common!/
"So," Hecate asked, removing a strand of her loose hair away from her eyes, "why are you so interested in it? I read it for the 'highlight beast' section. Aren't the photographs amazing, though?"
Hecate flipped to the page with the horntail--
"Like this month; just look at that shot! Amazing, really, I wonder how they can do that!"
ARIANNA:
Arianna grinned. "I read it for nearly everything. And I do love the photographs especially too. I have some photographs of non- magical animals back at home since my dad's a zoologist. He always brings something weird for me to see whenever I go home."
HECATE:
Hecate whistled, "wow, non-magical beasts...I've heard of how there are some rather fantastic-looking ones out there, right? There's something...what is it, oh.." Hecate snapped her fingers with face slightly confused, the name slipping from her.
"You know--well, maybe you don't--I mean...let's see...what was it...it was..something with a star? starry-nose---no, that wasn't it...star-face? star-shnozel? arg, it's a mammal-type, that much I know..."
Hecate couldn't beleive she had forgotten already!!
LILY:
"You would use your prefect power against me like that? To tarnish my detention-less record? Such actions don't befit you, lily!" Lily knew that James was just messing with her, he liked to do so; always had. She couldn't just ignore him though like she could other people - he really made her blood boil, and the more she let it show - the more he taunted her.
<"I say we form a committee to make sure Lily keeps her feet on the ground and make sure she doesn't start abusing her power too much," She was however, able to ignore Sirius's comment. She knew she would never mis-use her powers as a prefect for anything unjust. The only time Sirius comment's bothered her were when they were about James and her as a couple... she couldn't quite figure out why that one topic would always get to her. (OOC: lol, DUH! Who thinks she really likes him??? lol)
"Fine James, if you insist on not giving it back - just tell me if we have 1st period together. I can follow you there, that is of course if you intend to attend class this morning." She didn't want to go to class with him, but it seemed to be the only way she could find out her schedule.
ALDEBRA:
Aldebra had walked over to the Gryffindor table and after saying her pleasantries Sirius responded, <"Don't you dare take any of our Gryffindor food, you thief of a Ravenclaw,"> She smiled back and took a seat next to him.
"Don't mind if I do, thanks Sirius." She giggled a bit while taking a piece of toast off his plate. "You know Sirius, you might want to cut back on the eating if you want to keep up with me on the quidditch pitch this year - you'll want your broom to be able to hold ya." She joked. (OOC: I hope I'm not assuming too much that he is on the Quidditch team... if he's not, then - forget that last sentence from her.)
Her and Sirius had gotten along fairly well for being in different houses, and during the last few months of school last year she had developed a crush on him. Over the summer, not having seen him at all only made her crush grow. Now that she was back sitting next to him, she couldn't be happier.
SIRIUS:
"Ha...I think I'll start worrying about that comment when *you* don't have any food in your hand," Sirius said, eyeing the bread she was putting into her mouth and shaking his head before reaching for some more for himself. One hand was still holding Remus' book so that the werewolf couldn't take it back, so he stole some food off James' plate - he couldn't butter fresh toast himself and James was probably too engrossed with Lily to notice. "Do you think I could get you kicked out of the team for eating my food?" he asked Aldebra with a mock-serious face.
ALDEBRA:
Aldebra continued to eat, "I'd only be worried about that if you were to nark on me." She was pretty confident that Sirius wouldn't be the tattle-tale type, she had helped the marauders out of trouble on more then 1 occasion. "So where's Peter this morning? Seem's he's not used to having to wake up early yet." She remembered that she had awoken super early, her summer job had helped her keep up with her school sleep schedule.
ARIANNA:
"Hmm... Are you talking about the Star-nosed Mole? I've seen it before. My dad showed me a picture of it before. It looked normal except for nose, which looked quite bizarre."
HECATE:
Hecate's eyes flashed with recognition on the name.
"Yes! That's what it's called!! Oh, I love that animal, it's just a perfect juxtaposition of the natural and the bizzare compiled into one beast!"
Hecate clasped her hands in doeful admiration
"Yes, yes....oh, but there are so many other mammals and creatures of the muggle world that don't get included in Muggle studies, it's such a shame! I mean," she started, nervously twirling a lock of her hair, "for example, peacocks, and kimodo dragons, and the ant-lion...they're all so fascinating, I wish there was a career that I could explore the biology of both magical and non-magical creatures.."
Hecate sighed dreamily.
SIRIUS:
Sirius chuckled. "We'll see if the promise of food or his nice warm bed attracts him most. He'll probably sleep right until the last moment though - he can always get some more food later." He reached for his juice, automatically checking the colour of the drink to see it was normal - some potions could be avoided that way, and although it was the first day of school, there was no harm in being careful. He was used to it by now.
TAKUTO:
Takuto contentedly hummed his song to himself eating toast, when he saw Aldebra walk up and start talking to Sirius. The cheeful tone of his hummings dimmed. He tried not to look back up, but she was talking so freely and happily...Even though he hadn't ever talked to her before, she had served as a kind of muse to him during the past few years. Just the way she walked radiated creative waves. Without realising it, Takuto had begun to stare. Quickly, he looked down at his plate, and picked up his fork once more. HE tried to hum his tune to himself again, but unfortunately, it was now tinged with a sense of dissappointment.
ARIANNA:
Alex smiled at Hecate's love for animals. "There might be career like that, and if not, you can be the first one to have a job like that!"
ALDEBRA:
Aldebra ate a few more things from the table, "Well, I better be off. I've got potions first today and I don't want to be late." (OOC: Who is the potions professor?) She stood up and threw her pack on her shoulder, "Nice chatting with you guys. See ya round." She smiled at Sirius when she remembered the fact that his shoe laces were now tied together. "Probably see you at lunch."
She then walked back over to the Ravenclaw table and caught up with a couple of her Ravenclaw friends (ooc: of which there are no other 5th years... anyone want another character for her to interact with??!!) and they headed off to class together.
HECATE:
"Hummm..." Hecate pondered on that thought, obviously entranced by it. Hecate had mostly forgotten her unease around this girl--she was so easy to talk to, and so nice, too!
"That's absolutely brilliant, Alex!" she chimed. "And maybe you'd be my assistant" she added in, as a teasing measure, smiling with bright eyes.
JAMES:
"Fine James, if you insist on not giving it back - just tell me if we have 1st period together. I can follow you there, that is of course if you intend to attend class this morning."
Darnit.
It wasn't fun when they figured out the rules of the game.
Those rules being: act rational and don't overreact.
He looked offhandedly at her schedule. "Here," he said, letting it fall from his hands and float, as papers do, gently to the ground. "We've do have first period together," he said, with a bit of a grin on his face. He was sure he could think of something to make her annoyed on the way there. Maybe they'd hold hands or something...
Realising that it was, afterall, breakfast-time, and he'd spent all of it so far teasing Lily, James turned towards his meal, and noticed a sausage missing. 'That's funny...I thought I hadn't eaten anything,' he wondered, and thoughtfully chewed on the remaining three all at the same time.
LILY:
Lily picked up her schedule and looked over it, she was quite pleased with it. Though she wouldn't admit it to anyone - she was pleased to have James in most of her classes; he did make class a bit more amusing.
She finished eating her breakfast and stood up, "If you're done here can we get to class? I have a few questions I need to ask the professor." She picked up her books while wondering why she didn't just head to class now - she did have her schedule; she settled on the thought that the marauders were fun to be with when they weren't being prats - and she liked to give them the benefit of the doubt; maybe they had matured a bit over the summer.
ARIANNA:
Alex smiled brightly. "How about partners instead? We can become rich!" She stopped and realized something. "Oh yeah! Did you get your schedule yet? I still need to get mine!"
HECATE:
Hecate's face blanked.
"Schedule..?"
< "M-my schedule! Omygosh, I completely forgot!!" Hecate shrieked, slightly panicked--
then--
opportunity?
"Hey", she breathlessly asked, tugging very slightly on Arianna's sleeve, "Would you want to come with me to find the schedules? They could be literally anywhere here" she added.
Hecate hoped she'd say yes...Arianna was so much fun to talk to--much better than Juno, anyways.
ARIANNA:
"Alright, I need to get mine anyways." She started to walk, and
then she spoke to Hecate in a slightly playful tone. "Well? Let's
go! We don't want to be late!"
HECATE:
"yes, let's go--uh..." Hecate stopped dead.
She turned to face Arianna
"Do you know where they're putting them up this year, or any idea? Maybe we could ask someone?"
Hecate looked at Arianna.
ARIANNA:
"Professor McGonnagal is passing them out. We'll just ask her if
she has them still." Arianna answered Hecate's question.
BELLATRIX:
Bellatrix sat down at the table with a small sneer across her face
to scare away the other students, especially the muggle-borns. 'Half-
bloods...disgusting....Mudbloods..' The sneer on her face increased
suddenly, making a passing first year whimper in fright. 'Disgusting
the lot of them. Purebloods should be the only ones at Hogwarts...'
HECATE:
Hecate stared slightly embarrassed-like at Arianna.
"Mcgonnagal...right...did she always do that I wonder" she said to herself, the last bit coming out barely audible. She shook her head, and then grabbed Arianna's hand--
"Well, then, we've got to hurry!! Class is g-going to start s-soon you know" she said, attempting a matter-of-factly tone.
/....Her hand's warm.../
*mental back-hand self-punch*
/Noooo, no picking up on her! She probably isn't like you anyways!!/ Hecate inwardly scolded herself.
ARIANNA:
Arianna chuckled slightly. "Woah! Calm down!" She ran to keep up
with Hecate's suddenly speedy walk.
HECATE:
Hecate's face flushed--
/slow down? wait, what way does she mean, slow down? aren't I going...um...slow?/
The predicament of Hecate's problem was that she didn't understand what exactly the girl meant--speed, as in walk? or speed, as in friendship? Hardly do girls often have this problem with other girls.
But Hecate's special.
"Ah, ahm," Hecate stammered, deciding that Arianna probably was indicating towards option number one, "But, classes are going to start soon, and we can't miss out first day of class!"
Hecate then saw a few people up ahead--
/Boys. Good, I can talk to boys. One girl...oh whatever/
"Excuse me" Hecate interjected, "But do any of you know where McGonnagal is? We don't have our schedules"
SIRIUS:
Sirius looked at the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw girls which were looking round at the group. "Aren't they on your house tables?" he asked, looking from one to the other, wondering what the magazine one of them was holding was. "Ours were, and I have no idea where McGonagall might be." He smiled at them. "You could always follow the rest of your friends and see where *they* go."
HECATE:
Hecate stared....had they really been on the table? maybe she had missed them...oh dear...
"eh, thanks...mister...erm."
Hecate's brain froze up--now, what whas this fellow's name again? a pity she never remembered the names of popular people.
ARIANNA:
"Whoops, my memory must be going bad. Sorry about that. So Hecate,"
Arianna turned and looked at the other girl with a smile," Shall we
go and retrieve our schedules?"
HECATE:
"Um."
Hecate hadn't realized that her schedule would have been on the table.
WHY had she never noticed that her schedule was on the table, anyways?
....
*flashback of past 3 years--they're pretty much the same event, anyways*
"Miss Sphynx, you're late..."
"I-I couldn't find my schedule!"
"...Sad, sad, sad...."
*end of flashback*
"Um...yes! Right! on the tables...."
Hecate made an embarrased "thank you" wave to Sirius, and then--
"yes...schedules...I wonder what class order I have this year?" she wondered aloud.
JAMES
"If you're done here can we get to class? I have a few questions I need to ask the professor."
James' face brightened. Was it just him or was she making an invitation?
"Sure," he said, too enthused that Lily had actually asked him to come WITH her to class, to realize that their final destination was..class. And at a time earlier than necessary. "Want me to walk with you?"
ARIANNA:
"Well... I have all my transfiguration and potions classes with
you... which means i'll be in two of your classes today!" Arianna
explained happily.
HECATE:
"EEEEHH?!?!" Hecate exclaimed, quickly looking at Arianna's schedule and perusing over her own--
/LUCKY!!/
"That's so cool!!" Hecate exclaimed, blushing with happiness. "I won't be stuck on getting a partner anymore!" she openly smiled.
ARIANNA:
A slightly puzzled expression appeared over Arianna's face."Why
were you stuck without a partner? You're one of the nicest girls
that I've met, and that has the same taste as me!" She told Hecate.
HECATE:
"Well..."
Hecate's grip crinkled her magazine. Her face blanched--
"OH NOO!! NOT MY HORNTAIL!!"
She quickly placed the magazine on the table and flattened the picture out with her hands--
"Oh good..."
She turned back to Arianna--
"well, not too many..er...girls like to read about this stuff, and the boys are all creeped out that a girl like me reads these things..."
ARIANNA:
Arianna frowned slightly at her words. "I'd say that they were a
bunsh of psychos for thinking that!" She suddenly grabbed Hecate's
hand. "Now, let's go to class before we really are late!"
HECATE:
"wah--LATE???"
/She's grabbing my hand!!/
*blush*
Hecate quickly composed herself amidst running, and breathlessly followed Arianna to class--
"which one is it, right now?"
ARIANNA:
"You have Herbology and I have Care of Magical Creatures right now.
But I can walk you to your class first!" Arianna said while panting.
HECATE:
"Oh!" Hecate exclaimed, thankful and happy that Arianna was nice enough to walk her to class...
...but..
"But" Hecate started, "Won't you be late if you walk me to class? I mean...I'd really like you to accompany me, but you don't have to if you're gonna be late!"
Hecate was a bit worried about Arianna getting class on time--
/But I still hope she'll walk--er, run--with me to my class anyways..../
ARIANNA:
"Don't Worry!" Arianna exclaimed. "With the pace we're going at,
I'll be able to walk to your class and then mine in no time!"
HECATE:
"Good!" panted Hecate in short gasping breaths..
She wasn't used to running like this--
But as long as she could hold on Arianna's hand? Run she did.
The two (ooc-assumption bic) continued to dash until--
"This is it! The Herbology classroom!!"
Hecate screeched to a halt, nearly falling over in the process. She bent down, exasperated, catching her breath.
Amid catch-breaths, Hecate looked up at Arianna--
"Th..Thanks *gasp* I really *gasp* appreciate you wa-*gasp* walking me to my--well, *gasp* it was more like, *gasp* running, wasn't it?" She laughed, breathing in deep everytime she let out a laugh.
ARIANNA:
"No problem! Well, class calls! I'll see you at transfiguration!
Bye!!" Arianna waved madly while running over the school grounds to
where her next class was.
HECATE:
"Ah--Bye!" Hecate rushedly waved off, and then slowed her vigorous hand-shaking..
She looked on after Arianna..
*blush*
"She's so nice..."
Hecate was roughly "ahem!"ed by the teacher awaiting inside for her presence.
Hecate jumped with surprise, then blushed embarrassedly as she walked into the classroom and found a seat.
ARIANNA:
Arianna shuffled out of Care of Magical Creatures and made for the
library within the castle of Hogwarts. She walked and would search
the crowds every once in a while to keep a look out for Hecate, in
case she were to see her.
HECATE:
Hecate quickly pulled out of her seat when break-time came. She dashed off towards her routine-spot:
"The Dragonesque Mystique, here I come!"
Hecate clapped her hands together in anticipation of that book. It was a very large volume that detailed on many species of dragons, and--charm of charms for magical books!--it updated itself.
"I wonder what it'll say to-day" Hecate wondered to herself, and she stepped into the library and made for where she knew the book was going to be--
And right in the area was a person she was not expecting.
*blush*
"A-arianna!" She nearly squeaked in her surprise, and then covered her mouth in embarrassment. Hopefully the librarian hadn't heard that.
ARIANNA:
Arianna turned and saw Hecate. She smiled and ran towards her. "I
was looking for you! How was class?" She asked excitedly.
HECATE:
"Oh.." Hecate looked down at her hands and fumbled with them, "It was interesting enough--little bit more than usual, I guess...maybe" she grinned, feeling happy that Arianna had been looking for her. Looking for her! It just made Hecate feel happy to some degree..
"How was--oh! wait, there's something I want to show you--a-around here" Hecate said, motioning towards the shelf on her left. She pulled out the big tome, "The Dragonesque Mystique",and turned back to face Arianna. "ever read this before?"
HECATE:
Arianna studied the large intently. "No, I don't think I have... It
looks like a good book though." She looked up at Hecate. "Have you
read it? You seem to like it a lot."
HECATE:
Hecate smiled happily, and nodded her head up and down.
"It's absolutely fantastic! The Dragonesque Mystique--a magical apothecary detailing about all types of dragons, complete with photos, that updates itself whenever new information has been found! I absolutely love this book!!"
Hecate flipped fervently, then stopped, tapping her finger with jubilance at a picture. "See? Here's the horntail again" She smiled, pointing at a most intriguing picture of a horntail, who was blowing flames and then gobbled up a sheep from the side--"Isn't it marvellous? The pictures they provide are always up-to-date, and in the index, they include information that was formerly hypothesized, and at what times! It's just...Hmmm"
Words failing her, Hecate simply decided to supply her feelings about the book with humming.

ARIANNA:
Arianna laughed at Hecate's giddiness over the book. "I think
you've given more than enough reason to read the book!"
LILY:
'First day of class and I'm already bored.' Lily thought while
exiting the classroom. She probably would have fallen asleep if it
wasn't for the Marauders antics, though she didn't always approve of
them - it kept her on her toes.
She took out her class schedule from her robe and saw that she had
potions next; she knew this would cause problems - they shared it
with the Slytherins. She decided she would try and get to class early
so she could get a seat away from where the trouble would go down.
She put her schedule away and started to walk off when someone
grabbed her by the shoulder.
JAMES:
"So eager to leave to hang with the Slimy Slytherins already?" James made an
overly dramatic wincing face at the very IDEA, and gently let go of Lily's
shoulder. "EEWW...Slytherin cooties..."
Unable to hide his emotions whenever he was around Lily, he looked at her
expectantly, just waiting for her quite likely angry reaction.
LILY:
She looked back at him, "If you must know, I was hoping I could get
the seat farthest from yours. Figured getting early would assure
that. While I have you hear, could you try to behave for once during
potions? I don't want the Gryffindors to end up with extra homework
on the first day." She said curtly and headed towards the Potions
classroom.
JAMES:
James looked aghast. "Lily? Actually disliking the idea of homework?" He let his hands fall in exasperation. "I am appalled. What happened to your work ethic?" Although his hands were wildly gesticulating, his voice intoned insincerity. "We haven't even finished the first week of school yet, and already, you're slacking. tut. tut."
LILY:
Lily sighed, "Just because I, unlike some, actualy do my homework doesn't mean I engoy getting extra work. I do have other things to do then to have to pay for your immature antics. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to class." She started to walk off when she was grabbed by the shoulder again, "please, if you really need to speak to me do it on the way to class..." she turned around to see Frank was the offender of grabbing her shoulder. "Oh, I'm sorry Frank! I thought it was James bothering me again. Do you need something?" She asked.
FRANK:
"Err...Well I was wondering if you could help me in charms. I'm kinda
of confused with the Flying Charm and you know Charms was never one of
my strongest areas..." Frank laughed slightly nervously when he said
that.
LILY:
Lily was always happy to help other studen't who actualy seemed
interested in their work, "Sure Frank, I think I'll have time after
dinner. That good for you? We could meet in the common room." Lily
was glad that at least 1 other student was trying to get ahead on
their stidies, she could use some practicing herself.
FRANK:
Frank smiled brightly at Lily and walked towards the Potion's classroom.
TONITRUS REI:
Tonitrus sat patiently at his desk, hands folded across the table. He
watched as students poured into his classroom. He stood and said.
"Good morning class. Today, as you can all see, is the first day of
school once more. Now we will be reviewing some of the potions from
fourth year to see how much you remember. Who here can tell me how a
Integro Potion works?" The tall professor asked as the students slowly
sat down.
LILY:
Frank nodded at the idea and walked off towards the potions
classroom. Lily took a look around, and only seeing James and a
couple of his friends in the hall, decided she would finaly set out
for what she had planned - getting to class early.
She took a seat in class, took out her belongings and waited for
everyone else to join her. As soon as everyone had sat down, the
professor wasted no time in getting to business.
""Good morning class. Today, as you can all see, is the first day of
school once more. Now we will be reviewing some of the potions from
fourth year to see how much you remember. Who here can tell me how a
Integro Potion works?"
'Integro Potion...Integro Potion... I know this...' Lily thought to
herself. 'Oh! I do know!' It finaly clicked in her head and she put
her hand in the air.
TONITRUS REI:
Tonitrus looked around and saw a young girl waving her arm up in the
air. He recognized her immediantly. 'Lily Evans... Always so much in
a hurry to learn.' He smiled slightly. People who were gitty for
knowledge always somehow ended reminding him of himself. "Yes
Ms.Evans?" He waited for her to answer.
JAMES:
James looked over at Lily and Frank in shock. There was no doubt about it--that had most definitely been a diss. the cold shoulder. the "hello, look at this, i find another guy way cooler than you." James' face flushed with a kind of rage. 'Calm down,' he told himself. 'It's still the first day of school, and your favorite class, with a new teacher. You really shouldn't skip today.' Still, seeing Frank and Lily walk in together had been shocking. He looked at the door sulkingly--but then he had an idea. He was a prankster. And the Teacher wasn't a bad one. HE was certain he could pull something off on Frank to get him back, and no one would be the worse for wear--well, except Frank. He needed to learn that Lily was going to be HIS girlfriend, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. STill looking sulky, he stared at the door as other students walked in, till the very last minute. Then he walked in--there was no way he would ever go to a class early. Looking around, he wanted to sit next to Lily--but that seat was already taken, by none other than Frank. the scowl on his face grew. Instead, he walked sulkily to the spot where his other friends, REmus, Sirius, and Peter was sitting, and began discussing with them how to 'punish' Frank. He almost didn't notice when Lily raised her hand to answer a question.
LILY:
Lily was patiently holding her arm in the air when Professor
Tonitrus called on her, "Yes Ms.Evans?"
She put her arm down, "If I remember correctly, isn't the Integro
potion supposed to cure headaches and the likes?" she asked, a bit
unsure of herself. She didn't study over the summer as much as she
had liked, but was fairly certain this was the correct answer.
She looked across the room while waiting for confirmation from the
professor that she had given the right answer, she could see the
marauders chatting away in a corner, 'I wonder what they're talking
about.' she wondered, and made a mental note to keep watch on them
for the day. She knew Remus, being prefect, wouldn't be able to keep
an ubiased eye out on them so she would have to pick up his slack.
TONITRUS REI:
"That is correct. 5 points to Gryffindor. The Integro potion is
known to cure headaches, hang-overs, drousiness, and can even act
like weaker version of the pepper-up potion." Tonitrus looked around
to see if anyone had listened to the answer. The pranksters seemed to
be plotting something again.' I'll deal with them when the real
trouble starts...' "Now, can everyone take out their potion texts and
turn to page 17."
LILY:
Lily turned to the page 17 and waited patiently for more instructions
from the professor. She quietly looked over at the marauders to see
if they were following instructions, and wasn't surprised to see that
they hadn't even noticed the professor was talking. She turned her
attention back to the teacher.
ALDEBRA:
Aldebra had finished her Muggle studies class and walked straight to
History of Magic, 'If I hurry I can get a longer nap in.' She
thought. It was all Ravenclaw's in that class, she knew she could
borrow someone's notes later in the day.
PROFESSOR RAI:
Time seemed to fly that day. There was 5 minutes left in class and
Porfessor Rai had let the students spend the rest of the class for
their own uses. He sat down at his own desk and shifted through a book
on Chinese Magic.
LILY:
After reading the chapter the Professor had assigned, Lily
looked up at the clock, 'Wow, almost time for lunch.' She thought to
herself. 'Guess I must have been caught up in the reading.' She
started to pack up her things and looked around to see if there was
anyone else done reading.
After a couple of minutes she noticed that ******* had put away their
book and looked her way, 'Great, I had something I needed to speak to
them about!' She thought and waited for the Professor to dismiss
class.
ALDEBRA:
Aldebra opened her eyes slowly letting out a quiet yawn, it seems
that class was over and people were packing up for lunch. She
streched her arms and put her book away in her bag, 'Well that was
eventful.' She thought. She gathered her things and left for the
Great Hall, ignoring the few glares she got from her fellow
Ravenclaws. She was used to the gossip about her in her house; they
all hated how she was able to get straight a's yet didn't seem to pay
attention in a single class.
She made it to the great hall, and was one of the first to arrive.
Took a seat at the Ravenclaw table and starting snacking a bit on
some toast.
TONITRUS RAI:
Tonitrus looked up at the clock from the front of the room. The clock
striked 12 and a large gong like noise rung. "Class dismissed!" He
yelled at the students.
TAKUTO:
Takuto trudged out of class a little discouraged. He'd forgotten how incredibly
boring history of magic was. He sighed, but looked forward to spending another year
pretending to notice while strumming on an air guitar.
Walking into the Great Hall, He noticed Aldebra sitting by herself at the table.
Alright..so he'd never talked to her before. But he figured she probably knew his
name, since they had been in the same classes in the last few years. Taking in a
deep breath, and resolving to utilize his limited "charming" abilities...He
sat down across from her at the table--to the side a little bit. HE didn't want
it to look like he specifically was sitting there to try and talk to her....Great,
now what was he supposed to say? If only he'd tried talking to people before, maybe
he would have an idea of how small talk was made these days. He shifted his belongings
to the floor, and decided that he would just start eating lunch--no need to rush
things...
ALDEBRA:
Aldebra sat around when she noticed Takuto enter the great hall and sit across from her. She knew they hadn't talked much before, but being the social butterfly she was, she spoke up with no hesitation. "Hey Takuto, how's the day treatin ya?" She asked.
TAKUTO:
Takuto looked up, a bit surprised. Who knew that she would start talking first? It sure made it a lot easier for him, at least. "Uh...okay, I guess. Not much has happened so far..except for maybe a goblin war during class," he responded, making a reference to the class that they'd just shared together. As he spoke, he couldn't help but notice the green lustre of her eyes
ALDEBRA:
"Ha, you mean you actualy paid attention?! If you can manage to stay awake during that class I may have found myself a new study buddy." She laughed and wondered why she didn't remember ever speaking to Takuto much. She looked around and noticed that other student's had entered the Great Hall, none of which being more Ravenclaw's, "What do you want to bet that our fellow housemates are running off to the library to study up some?" She asked, half joking. She noticed that he had caught her eye's and she blushed ever so slightly, and turned her head quickly to *scan the room*, really she had hoped he didn't notice.
TAKUTO:
Takuto thought about that for a second. Unfortunately, what Aldebra said about their fellow classmates was probably true. 'Its only the first day of classes and they are already overacheiving...' he thought idly. He wondered if he really did fit into this class, after all--but he supposed that none of the other houses really suited him either. With a bit of a surprised laugh in his voice, he replied, "I--- I can't believe how some people will miss lunch just to study more." To amplify his disbelief, he took a bite out of the grouse that lay in front of him, savoring the taste. Amazing how history class could make him hungry.
HECATE:
He took the stuffed animal from her, and looked over the stuffed animal a bit; he decided the best course of action was to get her away from the table so he could go on eating lunch normaly, "No can do. You better bring him to Madame Pomphrey to see if he can mend him up a bit." He handed the stuffed animal back to her and went back to eating his lunch.
