An introduction to Khans Troopers of the Night

I thank you for your interest in our great guild. It is an honour that you would like to join the ranks of our family and adopt the Trooper lifestyle. Khans troopers are an old guild with a long history, more about us and our members can be found on our website.

So that you can get a better feel about what it is to be a Trooper I have enclosed some additional information about the way we live and what we do below, please read it if you are still interested.

1). The main purpose of being a trooper is, "to live in the spirit of the Khan". The Khan himself was one the greatest heroes Austin has seen, and he was also a great explorer. He saw in his time places that no other mortal, and very few immortal have found. Though the Khan himself was good aligned, KTN isn't an alignment restricted guild. Ie: you can be good, evil or neutral. But you have to be lawful since the Golden Khan spent his life fighting chaos. so demand number 1 is to uphold the law and maintain order.

2). KTN are not a PK guild, however this does not mean that we do not allow PK's. However if you go pk your on your own, and any PK action that could threaten the guild could lead to you being expelled.

3). Helping those in need (especially a fellow trooper) is another demand. So if you just want to be greedy and only get equipment for yourself and your alts, there is NO room for you in KTN. The life of a Trooper is about helping and sharing.

4). Represent your guild (KTN) in an honourable way, this means do not bitch and whine on the public channels. Juvenile behaviour will not be tolerated. Do not harass people and if you yourself get harrased by other players, swallow (european or african?)your pride (and contact a General with the problem), we are a peaceful guild and do NOT seek to end up in a guild war, if we can avoid it!! (See demand number 1, we love law and order and war isn't law and sure as hell isn't order).

5) Explore the world of Austin. This does not mean just get areas, there is a lot more to a zone that just a zone point. You can know an area well enough to have the point and still not know what mobs are in the zone, what eq is in the zone, what specs can be triggered or what secret areas there are. Share information with your fellow troopers, helping (especially each other) is what makes us a guild. Do not keep information for yourself, so only you can take advantage of it, this is selfish and not in the spirit of the Troopers.

6) Do not put your personal interest before the guild, instead make your personal interest the interest of the guild.

7) Follow the basic rules of Austin, do not abuse bugs or "unplanned features", even if everyone else seems to do so. Instead report them, and poke the gods until they get fixed. Do not stat hunt, if you want 18 wis and 18 con there is lots of equipment out there that will help you. This you will find out if you explore a bit. (or just take a look in the shelves in our storage).

8) Democracy is sacred to the KTN. The level of democracy within our guild is one of the things that makes KTN unique among all the other guilds on Austin. In KTN everybody's vote is equal regardless of rank. This means that as a totally new member of KTN you have just as much of a say in the big decisions concerning the guild, as a player who been member of KTN for years, and even an as big say as the current Khan.... Here your arguments count not your rank... Small everyday things we let the current Khan and his generals settle but all the big issues including new members, changes to guild eq, rule changes, etc are voted for... And it's important you vote!!! Another thing we vote for is (of course) our leader ( The current Khan). As for Generals they can be, but do not need to be elected, the Khan himself can appoint and sack his staff (the generals) but the people can also select their representatives...

9) Role-play is highly encouraged though not enforced, however role-playing your character(s) must never conflict with the interest of the guild. Some might think this to be wrong, but really it isn't because if your Role-play does come into conflict with the guild, you have forgotten something. That something is that you are a Trooper, so therefore the most important part of your Role-play should be to "Role-play a Trooper".

10). KTN is a guild with great possibilities of advancement, seek and strive to be a good Trooper, and advancement will come of itself. If time is right you will be given a quest which is designed for two purposes
a) To show that you are worthy of becoming
b) The quest will in itself force you to do something that will benefit you in the long run, maybe force you to explore an area or two, or maybe force you too look deeper into an area you already thought you knew.

So in brief being in KTN is not just about joining a guild but about the life you lead while in the world of Austin. The path of a Trooper is a hard one to follow, but is a rewarding way to live for those that travel that path. Time, honour and tradition will always mean a lot to us as a guild but commitment is the most important value of all. First last and always a Trooper!

Are you ready to make that commitment??

Glarin the Dracomancer, serving Khan, for the Troopers of Night.

Continue the trail!...
