To Melanie
As the tears fall it's all surreal.
From this dream I wish to wake,
But I haven't slept much since
I was informed of your fate.
I hope that you didn't suffer or feel the pain

A special place is reserved only for you
within my heart.
You will forever be my best friend.

Melanie you saved my life once
and I wish I could have done the same.
The reasons are endless to why you should still be here.

They say GOD works in mysterious ways.
I hope an attractive angel came to you with open arms
and that you're happy in your new home.
We all love and miss you severly.

Goodbye, MEL
Written by Lisa Anne Frady

A friend, classmate, band-mate of Melanie's, Amber Cabe, read these words at Melanie's funeral.
Friendship is a strange thing...
we find oursleves telling each other the deepest details of our lives...
things we don't even share with the familes who raised us.

But what is a friend?
a confidant?  a lover?  a shoulder to cry on? an ear to listen? a heart to feel?  A friend is all of these things and more.

No matter where we met, no matter how long we've been together...
I call you a friend.
A word so small, yet so large in feeling, a word filled with emotion, a word overflowing with love.  Truly great things come in small packages.

Once the package of friendship has been opened, it can never be closed.  It is a constant book always waiting...waiting to be read...and enjoyed.

We may have our disagreements...we may have our disappointments....we may argue...we may concern one another...friendship is a unique bond that lasts through all tribulations.

A part of each of us goes into our friendships...our humor...our experiences...our tears.  Friendships are foundatons...necessary for life...and love.

Friends...you and me...You brought another friend and then there were three...we started our group...our circle of friends...there is no beginning...there is no end.

Even though I don't speak to you all everyday...or even as often as I would like to...You have all crossed my path of life in one way or another...some of you I've only bumped into...some have walked a while with me...and some of you will continue to walk with me...

But don't ever think for a second that since we aren't in constant contact...that I don't think of you all...because if it wasn't for coming across all of you...who knows?  I would be a completely different person...and well...I'm happy with how I've turned out so far.

Thank-you.

This poem was written by a friend and co-worker of Melanie's.  It was attached to a vase filled with a dozen red roses left at Melanie's wake.  A card was attached with the note:  "Melanie, here are your dozen roses."  Melanie had remarked. "I wish someone would send me a dozen roses," at work recently when a dozen roses had been delivered to a fellow-worker...  I always bring her a dozen roses on her birthday now....  Melanie's favorite color were the light pink, peachy colored roses (light pink with darker pink edges.)  The casket blanket was filled with these coral and light pink roses.
MY ANGEL, MY FRIEND
DEDICATED IN MEMORY OF MELANIE THOMPSON
YOUR ANGELIC SMILE WAS AS WARM AS
THE SUN SHINING BRIGHT

YOUR ANGELIC EYES DANCED LIKE THE
STARS AT NIGHT

YOUR LAUGHTER FILLED OUR HEARTS
WITH JOY

AS WE TRAVEL ALONG LIFE'S WAY, WE
KNOW YOU ARE THERE GUIDING OUR
WAY

SINCE YOU'VE LEFT US WE WILL MOURN,
BUT WE'LL BE TOGETHER AGAIN
SOMEDAY SOON

MEL, YOU ARE DEEPLY LOVED AND
GREATLY MISSED

In Memory of Melanie
We thought of you with love today,
But that is nothing new.
We thought about you yesterday,
And days before that too.
We think of you in silence,
We often speak your name;
All we have now are memories,
And your picture in a frame.
Your memory is our keepsake,
With which we will never part;
God has you in His keep,
We have you in our heart.
It broke our heart to lose you.
But you didn't go alone,
For a part of us went with you...
The day God took you home.

We love You Melanie,

Butterfly
A butterfly lights beside us
like a sunbeam.
And for a brief moment
it's glory and beauty
belong to our world.

But then it flies on again.
And though we wish
it could have stayed.
We feel so lucky
to have seen it.

This poem was written by Melanie's younger sister, Miranda
To Melanie
Last Goodbye
My best friend, my sister.
I miss you so much.
I'd give anything
just to feel your touch.
Your body may fade,
but the memories never die
and everytime I think of you
I feel like I want to cry.
Melanie, I love you
with all of my heart
and someday we'll be together again
so we shall never be apart.
So this is it Sis,
take one last bow.
There's no more pain,
it's all over now.
I hope someday you'll forgive me
for this last goodbye
until I see ya again
when I, too, shall die.

From your loving sister,
Miranda

Melanie, here are a dozen roses that will bloom for ever; just like your smile will in our hearts and memories.

Love

Will ye walk always with me, Melanie Thompson?  Not far:
A year or two, at ending of your time.
We'll not talk only in our prayers to you.
Maybe laugh, occasionally; or find a cause for tears;
Or something lost, could be, we both might find.

Will ye talk to me, Melanie Thompson?
A minute measured by your lenghth on earth.
We'll pass a look or two, we both will know
and understand the feeling, so when I go
We'll see each other up in Heaven and love you with
more love.

Will I linger at my leaving, Melanie Thompson?
Just for you.
Lingering reassures and comforts us who part.
Memories of it help to slow the quickened tears
With recalling of you, in the later years;
And soften, some, the breaking of the heart.
In our love and heart we love you.
