Fantasy Foods

These recipies may be inspired by the middle ages or have come from fantasy novels....

Almond Milk

mix16 oz. of 2% milk and 1 1/2 to 2 oz. of almond syrup (can be found with the whole bean coffee at Wally-world or from any gourmet coffee shop) This is something I served to my little clan back in Dagorhir, everyone loved it. It is good hot or cold. I even pored a little on my gruel for breakfast, mmmm.

Fairy Cookies

Any simple sugar cookie recipie (even store bought) with almond flavor added. Cut into stars and moons and such and sprinkle with plain or colored sugar.

Fairy Cakes

Use regular store bought white cake mix and add almond flavor. I bake them in a giant muffin tops pan with large sugar crystals on top. These remind me of the rose petal cake that Guinivere gives to Arthur in the 70's film "Excalibar" You could flavor them with rose water too if you like...

Any almond flavored sweet has the flair of the middle ages and so works well for fantasy. Maybe you are brave enough to try chocolate and jalapeno cake as a Goblin desert, or some kind of jello and fluff concoction as an Elf food!

Fairy Wine

If you have a tea infuser it will help with this recipie, otherwise a simple piece of cheese cloth will work

Steep 1 tablespoon crushed whole cloves, 3 broken cinnamon sticks and a few grinds of nutmeg in a gallon of warm milk (if you have electricity a crock pot on low works best, otherwise just watch that the milk never boils) for 10-30 minutes depending on the heating method. sweeten with honey to your taste. This is great as is but a punch of color can really add to a fantasy feel, you can add food color in any combination to create a pastel you like.
