THAILAND PICS!!
Two Boats in Saaphan Plaa, Ko Chang in Ranong Province of Thailand.  I find that while Thailand is, overall, a very colorful place the further south one goes the more vibrant the colors become.
Including the colors of the sunset.  Of course photography can never quite capture the range of colors, the way the sun dances on the water in shades of glowing purple and orange, but nonetheless I continue to try.  My favorite dives were those right at sunset. The world below had only just begun to close dwown in anticipation of the darkness, but was still very alive and colorful--so colorful.  And usually you would come to the surface at this moment, right before the sunset.  The night dives were also incredible.  The area where I was has an incredible amount of phosphorous in the water so one could go 18 meters down, shut of all the lights, and make underwater galaxies of phosphorous with the flick of a hand.  Incredible.
Upper left--shot from inside a Tuk-Tuk, three-wheeler hybrid motorcyle/cab.  A few hail mary's are requisite before hopping into one of these in Bangkok.

Upper right--after an 8 hour bus ride landing me in Ranong at 5 am, I noticed a few sights that made the early hours worthwhile.  Here are two monks getting breakfast from a local restaurant owner.  Not a bad life.  Notice the Chinese New Year decor in the background--Ranong has many Hokkien Chinese immigrants.  While many of these Thai's have Chinese heritage (thus inspiring them to celebrate the New Year) they are as Thai as Thai can be.  No attempts at Mandarin or Cantonese were worthwhile here.
After one of our dives we sat down to a scruptous lunch of Mossaman curry (yum, yum).  Of course, it was lunch time for the sea creatures as well and in search of food a lovely 3-4 foot sea turtle ventured our way.  Lucky us!  Lunch was cut short as I segwayed to a memorable snorkle with this graceful creature.  Yes, the water REALLY IS that color.

To the left is a beach on one of the islands of Ko Similan in the Andaman Sea off Thailand.  The water is gorgeous, the weather perfect and the food delectable!
