Margeaux Visit to China Pictures--April 2003
Can you spot the duck that looks 'squashed like road kill'?
Margeaux certainly did!  Dim sum, bak choi, Beijing Duck... culinary highlights?!?  Try McDonalds breakfast sandwhich (available all day), fried rice and chinese dumplings (jiaozi or gyoza).  Margeaux, in 5 years when you love seafood, you'll be aching to come back to Hong Kong!
The GREAT WALL, a triumph to build, and an accomplishment to hike.  This unrenovated wall was truly stunning, and a little tough on the knees :-)
A moment of reflection while sitting on the 'Only man-made structure visible from space'.
I didn't take this picture quite right but if I had you would see just how steep this baby is!  The mountains in the distance are the horizon line, the bricks in the foreground are the Great Wall.
Miles and miles of wall (over 1,000 I believe) stretch out in front of and behind us.  Built to keep out the Mongols and other formidable foes.  It was, in the end, unsuccesful.  It makes one consider other unsuccessful walls--the Berlin Wall, the wall between Israel and Palestine....
