Welcome to my Low Carb Journal! My Name is Katie, I am 54 years old, Married to a great guy for the last 12 years. I have 12 grandkids and 3 kids. I am diabetic, high cholesterol, asthma, allergies etc. As you can see I need to get my butt into gear and lose this awful weight. I have 85lbs to lose and believe me I have tried every diet out there to lose, but always gained it back. I did the Atkins diet about 30yrs ago and lost 125lbs. and I kept it off for 7 years, the reason I put it back on was, I got injured and ended up in bed for almost 6months and even when I got out of bed I couldn't get back to the exercise routine I was doing every day. So I have been trying to lose this weight for a long time. I have been checking out all the information I can find on low carb dieting , I tried to do the Atkins Induction phase, but I got so tired and actually felt sick and my sugars went haywire. So my doctor told me not to do Atkins. But I like the idea of cutting out alot of carbs. So I designed my own low carb diet. I hope it works. What I will be doing is cutting my carbs down to 125 grams. a day for a week, then 100g's a day for another week, then 75g's a day for another week, and then 50g's a day for another week, then end up doing 25g's for at least 2 weeks. Then build back up to a normal range of about 100g's a day. I figure that way my body won't go crazy with withdrawl and make me sick. It will probably take me a little while longer to lose the weight, but hopefully I will still lose it. It took me years to get this big and I know it will take awhile to get rid of it. What I am hoping with this Journal online is that it will be able to help me to stay on track, and for everyone who reads it to get some help or insentive to lose the weight. I will be adding links to special sites, that I found very helpful. And any recipes that I find are easy and good. So with no further ado, here are my stats.
