Kara Tanigawa came into this world on January 25, 1988, to the parents of Dave and Sharon. She was born sometime in the afternoon at the Sutter Memorial Hospital in Sacramento, California. Kara has lived in Sacramtento her whole life, but has traveled both in and outside of the United States many times. Some of the places that she has visited are: Canada, Mexico, Florida, Hawaii, Nevada, Washington, and various cities throughout California. Kara was able to see some of these places because of the fact that she plays basketball. She first started playing the sport when she was in the third grade and grew very fond of the sport. She has continued to play basketball throughout elementary school, middle school, and high school. The sport has become a large part of Kara's life; she is the starting point guard for Kennedy, starting point guard for her Asian league team, and also coaches basketball during the summer. Although Kara only plays basketball, she has had an adventurous life recreationaly partaking in various activities on land, sea, and in the air. There are very few sports in which Kara has not taken part in.
Not only is Kara inolved in extra curricular activities, but she also enjoys taking the time to help out in her community. For the last five years she has performed various acts of community service. Kara achieved a sense of self gratification because instead of just thinking of herself, she decided to help others. These experiences opened her eyes to a whole other world in which there is a need for people to join together and help each other. She has learned a lot of things which she may have never gotten the opportunity to experience.

Kara is currently in both the National Honors Society and the California Scholarship Federation at Kennedy. She was able to get into these clubs because of her community service and good grades. She has always worked hard in school because she knows that someday all of her hard work will pay off. Since elementary school, Kara has strived to get straight A's every year. Although this unfortunately did not happen becasue she got a few B's, she is still very proud of herself. Her goals now are to get into a University and get her bachelor's degree in some type of science. From there Kara is unsure about whether she wants to keep pursuing her education after she earns her bachelor's degree.
Aside from her academic goals, Kara also has personal goals as well. She wants to get a good job that has to deal with science and she would also like to get married. She is unsure about whether she would like to have kids or not. Before marriage, however, she would like to travel to different places with some of her close friends (Australia for sure). After all of her traveling, she wants to settle down somewhere in California. While married and mainting a job, she still wants to ba able to have recreational adventures because she loves sports and competition. |
