Abstract
Summary Of Artifacts In Showcase
The three artifacts that i chose to put in my portfolio are the two E-posters (Impetigo and Joubert Syndrom) and the Osteoporosis lab.  Mr. Bernal wanted everyone to become better familiar with how to use a computer and all of its different functions.  He decided to have us do an E-poster on a skin disease of our choice.  I chose to do my research on Impetigo.  I learned that the fluid from the blisters make Impetigo highly contagious.  It is most often found in young children and can occur on various places on the body.  The best way to prevent it is to take showers and make sure that one's skin is clean.  The second E-poster that we did had to deal with diseases in the brain.  I chose Joubert Syndrom which is a rare genetic disorder that is found in infants and causes a development problem in the part of the brain that controls balance and coordination.  The disease also effects the part of the brain stem that controls basic functions.  This disease has no cure but there are many treatments that help.  The final artifact is the Osteoporosis lab.  In this lab we were observing the effects that vinegar has on a bone.  We wanted to see if there would be a loss of calcium in the bone if it was submerged in the vinegar for a period of two weeks.  My partner and I found that the bone did lose calcium and it became brittle.  The longer that the bone sat in the vinegar, the more calcium it lost.
Partnership Statement
During this school year, I have done all of my labs and E-posters with Navpreet Sambhi.  She has not only been a great lab partner, but she has also become a good friend.  Navpreet is easy to work with and we are always able to get our work done because we work as a team (each of us contributes equally).  Navpreet has also helped me a great amount on my E-posters.  She was the one that showed me the website to use and how to use it.  Instead of just telling me the site, she also taught me how to use all of the different things that are on the site.  She was very patient with me (and still is) because whenever I had a question she was always ready to answer it.  I have learned a lot about computers thanks to Navpreet.  She has really helped me in Anatomy and is a great friend.
Personal Reflection Of Growth
Anatomy has allowed me to grow and prosper as a student.  I was able to learn how to incorporate a graph into my Osteoporosis lab on the computer.  I found that using the internet for online assignments is actually very easy to find plausible evidence.  I also learned how to make my own web pages on the internet by using geocities.  I am now able to do a lot more on the computer than I once was able to do.  Aside from learning about the computer, I also learned that that working with a partner is often better than having to work alone.  Having a partner allows me to finish tasks faster and also learn more because my partner sometimes has extra knowledge on a certain subject.  The online assignments, the E-posters, and group activities all helped me to grow as a student.
