| One of the galaxy's most powerful and influential commerce guilds, the Techno Union was a far- reaching corporation that proved pivotal to the sucess of the Trade Federation, and to Count Dooku's seperatist movement. The Techno Union spanned many of the most famous industrialised worlds in the Republic, from Fondor to Mechis III and Metalorn. These factory worlds churned out cutting-edge starship, computer, weapon and droid technologies for the Techno Union, to great acclaim from the citizens of the Republic. Many major corporations - such as Baktoid Armour Workshops, TaggeCo and BlasTech - were all signatories, in some way, to the Techno Union. It showed just how powerful the Union was when the Corellian Engineering Corporation and Kuat Systems Engineering were added to the list. The Union's Foreman, Wat Tambor, attained a high status because of the reputation of his commerce guild. Like numerous other commerce guilds in the Republic, the Techno Union was afforded the freedom to maintain a droid force as security for the company. Shipyards and research facilities grew to house huge droid armies, which gave the Techno Union massive protection for its assets. It was these droid armies which made the Techno Union so invaluable to the Confederacy of Independant Systems. The Union began to produce masses of battle droids for the Trade Federation - which were combined with droids from the other guilds affiliated with Count Dooku - in secret Confederate droid factories on Geonosis, among other worlds. Soon after Wat Tambor allied the Union with Dooku's seperatists, war broke out between the Confederacy and the Republic. The Techno Union continued to use its droids to protect its factories, but this time from the clone army from Kamino. As the Union spanned many of the major factory worlds, it became a large target for the Republic. Though the Techno Union was originally established to ensure fair commerce across the galaxy, its part in the Clone Wars turned the company into an infamous enemy of the Republic. |
