A vicious predator native to Haruun Kal, the akk dog was
often misunderstood. It was seen as a feral beast by
many, but to the natives of Haruun Kal, it was as beloved
as a pet.
Two meters tall and protected by thick, armour-like skin
plates, the akk dog was a fearsome creature to come up
against. However, despite their dangerous appearance,
Korunnai used domesticated akks to round up grassers
on ranches. Feral akk dogs could be deadly, since they
had excellent vision, and could blend into the grasslands
of Haruun Kal.
Force-users could influence akk dogs easily, thanks to
a link they had with the Force. This helped the naturally Force-sensitive Korunnai tame the creatures, and allowed the akk dogs to become great companions. Akk dogs could only be bred on their homeworld, though shortly after the Battle of Naboo, Haruun Kal-born Mace Windu learned feral akks were being smuggled to Nar Shaddaa for sale on the black market. He was faced with a trio of mentally-altered akk dogs when he went to investigate, and was forced to fight the beasts.
He later met more akk dogs upon his return to Haruun Kal after the Clone Wars began. There, Windu tamed feral akks and rode them through the planet's jungles. As well as the standard akk dog, there were two lesser species which hunted in Haruun Kal's jungles, as well as the akk wolf. |
