| With his new rank of General came a host of new duties for Wedge. While it didn't take him away from Rogue Squadron straightaway - he fought Admiral Krennel and killed the clone of Ysanne Isard on Ciutric - the appearance of the reborn Emperor forced Wedge to abandon his X-wing in favour of a command post onboard a captured Star Destroyer. He later took command of the Super Star Destroyer Lusankya, which had proved to be a thorn in Wedge's side during his time with the Rogues, and directed his old squadron against Carnor Jax at Phaeda. Wedge then returned to Coruscant and used some free time to clear wreckage from Coruscant's orbit, and to direct reconstruction schemes planetside. However, he vacated his new position to become Doctor Qwi Xux's bodyguard after her escape from the Maw Installation. The two fell in love, and stayed together even after Kyp Durron robbed Qwi of her memories. Wedge worked to restore them, but Wedge and Qwi seperated after he took on Admiral Pellaeon's Super Star Destroyer with the Lusankya. Wedge again ran into Iella Wessiri, and realised she was the woman he loved. A few months after Wedge's mission to Adumar, he and Iella married on Coruscant, and had two children. Though General Antilles continued to help the New Republic, the peace treaty between the New Republic and the Imperial Remnant, gave Wedge cause for retirement. However, old habits die hard, and Wedge returned to active duty during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion. He began aiding Rogue Leader Gavin Darklighter in his duties, but later reprised his rank to take the fight to the enemy. He defended a New Republic base on Borleias, where he also set up what would eventually become the Galactic Alliance; a new government free of the political corruption of the New Republic. |
