KEN STREMSKY DISCUSSES UNIONS I may add more information to this section in the future. I do not think people should be forced to join unions. I do not think people should be kept from joining unions. I do not think people should have to pay a union's dues when the person does not belong to the union. I believe it is not constitutional to require an employee to accept a union as their exclusive representative because of Amendment One and Amendment Seven of the United States Constitution. Requiring an employee to accept a union as his/her exclusive representative infringes on freedom of speech. The right of an employee to sue a company may not be taken away because of Amendment Seven of the United States Constitution which says "In suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise reexamined in any Court of the United States, than according to the rules of common law." Companies may not keep employees from forming unions and allowing unions to be their exclusive representatives. Companies should not be required to fire employees who choose to work during strike. I do not think people should be forced to pay a union's dues when the person does not belong to a union. I do not think a company should be able to require that a person be a member of a union to work for a company. Federal, state, and local employees should not be required to be members of unions. Federal, state, and local employees should not be kept from joining unions. State and local police officers and firefighters should not have to be members of unions. State and local police officers should be allowed to be members of unions.
