KEN STREMSKY'S LETTERS TO THE MEDIA-PART ONE This page has some of the letters I have sent to the media after my points to ponder. The media may post all the letters I have sent them if they feel like it. I sent many New Hampshire newspapers and other parts of the media many press releases and other letters to the editor. I tried to get mentioned in Campaign Notebooks and other parts of newspapers. I have long thought that those who live in glass houses should not cast stones. Most of the New Hampshire media lives in glass houses because they did not cover my campaign as well as they should have. I do not live in a glass house and I went after myself significantly before I went after the media and others. I am running for President of the United States of America to get the issues discussed including the media. Fire is at its best when it has oxygen. I am at my best when I receive negative feedback that is truthful. The negative feedback on The Green Papers which you may view at http://www.thegreenpapers.com has been very beneficial to me. Please do not libel me. I want to have a mandate when I win elective office. The more coverage I receive from the media the more of a mandate I will have. PRESIDENT THEODORE ROOSEVELT QUOTE The following quote from President Theodore Roosevelt comes from page 104 of Executive Qualities written by Joseph M. Fox. "It is not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbled, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. LETTER TO THE UNION LEADER DEALING WITH PRESIDENT I e-mailed the following letter to the Union Leader on November 12, 2002. Dear Union Leader: Thanks for printing my letter dealing with Japan. Does it bother the Union Leader that President Bush has denied Amendment Six Rights of citizens of the United States of America he calls enemy combatants? Terrorism is a criminal offense. If President Bush became a dictator like President Abraham Lincoln would that bother you? President Abraham Lincoln eliminated freedom of the press for many papers. If President Bush eliminated freedom of the press for many papers would this bother you? President Abraham Lincoln suspended "The Privilge of the Writ of Habeas Corpus". Only Congress has the power according to Article One, Section Nine of the United States Constitution. If President Bush suspended the "Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus" would this bother you? During World War 2, President Franklin Roosevelt put Americans of Japanese descent in internment camps. I think this was wrong. If President Bush puts American Muslims of Middle Eastern descent into internment camps would you think this is a bad idea? Does the Union Leader think it was proper for President Bush and his cohorts to question the patriotism of Senator Max Cleland who is a Veteran who lost three limbs in Vietnam? President Bush did not serve in combat in Vietnam. The Republican who ran against Senator Max Cleland did not serve in Vietnam. I do not think it would be a good idea to say that only people who have been part of the military should be able to be elected President of the United States of America. I do think it is proper to say that a President of the United States of America who did not serve in combat in Vietnam should not question the patriotism of someone who did. I am going to vote for Congressman John Sununu for United States Senate in the general election. I am voting for him because I know he is the best person running in the general election. I disagree with him on abortion and many other issues. When Congressman John Sununu says he supports something, I believe him. When Governor Jeanne Shaheen says she supports something, I do not believe her. When Governor Jeanne Shaheen first ran for Governor, I voted for her. I did not make that mistake again. She should have vetoed SB 392 "AN ACT relative to the regulation of revolving credit plans" that benefits Providian. 384-G:12 Amendment of Agreement III. d says "A change from a variable rate plan to a fixed rate, or from a fixed rate to a variable rate plan so long as the initial rate that would result from such a change, as determined on the effective date of the change, or if the notice of the change is mailed or delivered to the borrower prior to the effective date, as of any date within 60 days before mailing or delivery of such notice, will not be an increase from the rate in effect on such date under the existing plan." I wonder if she did not veto the legislation because Providian has benefitted her significantly. She should have stood up to the state supreme court on education funding and said that the legislature makes laws and the state supreme court does not. I hope Japan will consider creating national education websites that will be free to use by Japan's citizens who have internet access that will teach mathematics, science, foreign languages, history, geography, art, music, and other topics. Libraries should have internet access. Corporations may be willing to donate computers and internet access. I hope Japan will consider eliminating taxes on capital gains, dividends, and interest from savings accounts because this will encourage investment and saving in Japan. I hope Japan will consider having the same tax rates for individuals and businesses. I hope Japan will consider not taxing the first 20,000 US dollars that a person makes in a year. I hope Japan will consider placing a five percent national income tax on incomes from 20,000.01 US dollars to 50,000 US dollars. I hope Japan will consider placing a ten percent national income tax on incomes from 50,000.01 US dollars to 100,000 US dollars. I hope Japan will consider placing a fifteen percent national income tax on incomes above 100,000.01 US dollars. CAESAR AND CINCINNATUS History might have turned out very differently if Julius Caesar had been one-tenth the man that Cincinnatus was. A great book about Julius Caesar is Caesar: A Biography by Christian Meier. The following quote about Julius Caesar comes from page 23 of Executive Qualities written by Joseph M. Fox. "The mind of Caesar. It is the reverse of most men's. It rejoices in committing itself. To us arrive each day a score of challenges; we must say yes or no to decisions that will set off chains of consequences. Some of us deliberate; some of us refuse the decision, which is itself a decision; some of us leap gradually into the decision, setting our jaws and closing our minds, which is sort of a decision of despair. Caesar embraces decision. It is as though he felt his mind to be operating only when interlocking itself with significant consequences." Caesar's Doctor The following excerpt is from pages 400 and 401 of The Portable Machiavelli edited and translated by Peter Bondanella and Mark Musa. The excerpt is from The Discourses by Niccolo Machiavelli. "For example, when Minutius, the consul, and his army were beseiged by the Aequi, Rome was so filled with the fear that the army might be lost that they decided to appoint a dictator - the last resource in any difficult situation. They selected Lucius Quintius Cincinnatus who at that time was on a small farm that he worked with his own hands. The event is celebrated by Livy with these golden words: "This should be heeded by all who disparage every human thing in comparison to riches and who have no use for honor or skill unless wealth flows in abundance." Cincinnatus was plowing his little farm, which was not longer than four jugers, when the legates of the senate arrived from Rome to advise him of his election to the dictatorship and to show him in what danger the Roman republic found itself. MY COMMENTS I have read elsewhere that Cincinnatus gave up power and went back to his farm when he believed his leadership was no longer necessary. He cared more about the Republic than about great power for himself. He cared more about the Republic than about fame and glory. Julius Caesar cared more about his fame and his glory than about the Republic. Julius Caesar cared more about having great power for himself than about the best interests of the Republic. We need leaders who combine the type of mind Caesar had with the type of love that Cincinnatus had for the Republic. We need leaders who are more devoted to the Republic than they are for their own fame and glory. We need leaders who are willing to take risks and provide leadership. We need leaders who are willing to make significant decisions when little is known. OP/ED: I ran for United States Senate from New Hampshire in the Republican primary in 2002 and I received more than 2000 votes. I think the people who are condemning Senator Bob Smith's supporters for deciding to write in Senator's Bob Smith's name in the November election should be ashamed of themselves. A voter should vote in a primary election and/or a general election for the candidate the voter thinks is best. People who usually do not vote in general elections should be condemned. Voters should not be condemned for voting for the candidates they like best. I have mailed the following letter to newspapers in New Jersey. Letter to the Editor: If the Democratic Party is not able to get a new United States Senate candidate on New Jersey's ballot, the Democratic Party should have a candidate run as a write in candidate. I hope there will be at least three televised United States Senate debates between the new Democratic candidate, the Republican candidate, and other candidates for United States Senate in New Jersey. If the voters of New Jersey do not like any of the candidates who are running for United States Senate, I hope they will write in the name of someone they do like. I hope Congress will pass a law that puts none of the above boxes on ballots for United States Senate, United States House of Representatives, and President of the United States of America for primary elections and general elections. If a none of the above box obtains more than 50 percent of the votes cast for a particular position, another election should be held and the people who lost to none of the above should not be allowed to participate in the special election. POINTS TO PONDER-NUMBER TWO For many years the current government of Saudi Arabia has shaken our hand with one hand and stabbed us in the back with their other hand. For years the current government of Saudi Arabia has supported terrorist groups that hate the United States of America. The Wall Street Journal has discussed the fact that the current government of Saudi Arabia is holding female citizens of the United States of America hostage. The current government of Saudi Arabia has told us it will not allow the United States of America to use our bases in Saudi Arabia to attack Iraq. The United States of America should not be supporting the current government of Saudi Arabia which does not allow fair elections and human rights in Saudi Arabia. The United States of America should remove our troops from Saudi Arabia in an orderly fashion because Saudi Arabia is an enemy of the United States of America and not an ally of the United States of America. POINTS TO PONDER-NUMBER THREE President Bush has said that Iran is part of the axis of evil. Iran has slowly become a nation that is not hostile to most of the world. Sincerely, Ken Stremsky A LETTER TO A FINANCIAL TIMES COLUMNIST I e-mailed the following to Michael Skapinker of the Financial Times after reading his column on page six of the October 19/October 20 paper on October 20, 2002. Dear Michael Skapinker: I hope that you will mention my campaign for President of the United States of America and my website in your column. If you would like to do a phone interview with me, please let me know. Thanks for writing "A constitutional right to be killed." You wrote "And why, in a country with more than 200m firearms in circulation, have the residents of suburban Washington spent two weeks cowering in their homes?" The obvious answer to that question is the fact that the sniper is killing people from a distance with a rifle. People are not able to shoot at targets they are not able to see with a handgun. The probability that the sniper will get caught will increase if teams of military snipers and ex military snipers hunt the sniper. Armed US police officers are "much more likely to be shot than their largely unarmed English counterparts" because a lot of citizens of the United States of America do not respect cops and many Americans hate cops. They also think it is very unlikely that they will be caught. The fact that it is almost as easy to buy illegal guns in this country as it is to buy illegal drugs contributes signifantly to the problem. Guns often do not deter murderers like they do many muggers because the murderers may figure they will not be caught if there are no witnesses. Murder is often a crime of hate and a lot of people are willing to risk their lives to kill people they hate. I have the following gun control section on my website. GUN CONTROL Amendment Two of the United States Constitution says "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." Because Amendment Two mentions the Militia, the right to keep and bear arms is not an absolute right because Article One of the United States Constitution discusses the Militia in great detail. Article One, Section Eight of the United States Constitution says Congress has the power "To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers, and the Authority of training the Militia according to the discipline prescribed by Congress." The National Guard and Reserves is only a small part of the Militia. Historically, I think the Militia has been all able bodied men between certain ages the Congress has set. Article One, Section Eight also gives Congress the power to regulate Commerce. Congress may place waiting periods on guns. Congress may decide who may not own guns. Congress may decide who may not sell guns. Congress may decide which types of guns and ammunition may not be sold in the United States of America mainly because Militia is mentioned in Amendment Two. I do not think it is possible to keep guns out of the hands of criminals because the War on Drugs has not kept people from getting illegal drugs. If law abiding citizens are not allowed to own guns, I do not think our citizens will keep their civil liberties very long. I forgot the word issue in the e-mail. Dear Union Leader: The September 6, 2002 issue on page 14 says "CRAIG BENSON is still at it, spreading lies and smearing his opponents in his attempt to make the governorship his first elected office." The Union Leader is a hypocritical organization because it spread lies and smeared me in its September 4, 2002 profile of me on page C4. The article said "Stremsky, 32 lives in Manchester and entered the Republican primary for Sen. Bob Smith's seat as a way to advertise the fact he's seeking a woman to court." The Union Leader should be bright enough to realize that I entered the race to get the issues discussed especially the Bill of Rights. If the Union Leader was a competent paper it would have told people in my profile that my Republican opponents have not had the guts to post information on the League of Women Voters website which is http://www.dnet.org. My information has been on that website for more than a month. I decided to post a personal ad on page two of my website so that the probability that I would lose votes for being a single man without children would decrease, I could meet a nice women, and increase the probability that I would receive coverage for my campaigns. Stremsky notified the newspaper several months ago that he would not go there because of high cab fares and "because it is a pain to get to by bus."
