KEN STREMSKY DISCUSSES IRAQ AND OTHER TOPICS I discuss Iraq and assasination on Part Four of My Political Platform including very negative feedback from a person who wrote me. ISRAEL AND ARAFAT I discussed Israel and Arafat in detail when I was interviewed by the Telegraph at Burger King. The comments are not in my August 4, 2002 interview. Arafat should ask himself the following question. Why is he alive? Israel has some of the best assasins in the world. Israel could have taken him out years ago and made it look like a heart attack or a stroke. He is alive so Israel could use him as an excuse for not having a Palestinian state. I also think a Palestinian state would have been created years ago if Palestinians had not snatched defeat from the jaws of victory by becoming human bombs. Someday, I hope that Palestinians born within Israel's borders will have full Israeli citizenship rights including the right to vote, same civil liberties protections that Jews have, the right to serve in the Israeli military when they meet the standards that Jews have to meet, the right to run for Israel's parliament, and the right to run for Prime Minister of Israel. I am surprised no reporter thought to ask me about President Abraham Lincoln's performance during the Civil War. I discuss in detail why I am not happy with President Bush's performance. President Abraham Lincoln did far worse things as President of the United States of America than President Bush has done. I am also surprised I was not asked about the assasination of Admiral Yamamoto. Admiral Yamamoto was educated at Harvard University and he came up with the brilliant attack on Pearl Harbor. We were able to assasinate him because we broke Japan's codes. The assasination of Admiral Yamamoto was a mistake. I believe we would have won the war with Japan without dropping nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki if he had lived. I doubt China would have gone communist if he had lived. I doubt the Korean Conflict would have taken as many lives as it did if he had lived. Vietnam may have gained its independence from France earlier and we might have not lost many soldiers if China had not gone communist. The Khmer Rouge might have not killed as many people as they did in Cambodia if Vietnam had gained its independence from France in a peaceful fashion. The Cold War might have ended sooner if Japan's military had been commanded by Admiral Yamamoto after World War 2 and China had not gone communist. The Law of Unintended Consequences should always be considered before using force when immediate response is not required. The assasination of Admiral Yamamoto harmed the United States of America and the rest of the world greatly. FREEDOM OF THE PRESS Freedom of the press and freedom of speech allow all other freedoms to be possible. Freedom of the press is more important in War time than in peace time because our country has often denied people their civil liberties in War time. Some of the greatest infringements on our civil liberties in our country's history took place during the Civil War on President Abraham Lincoln's orders. Freedom of the press was stifled significantly by President Abraham Lincoln and Congress should have removed President Abraham Lincoln from office for this reason. Only Congress has the power to suspend the Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus. President Abraham Lincoln broke his oath of office when he suspended the Privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus and Congress should have removed him from office for this reason. President Abraham Lincoln should have ended slavery without using dictatorial powers. President Abraham Lincoln should not have used force to keep the union together. Secession by states from the union is a right guaranteed by the Declaration of Independence. A free press decreases the probability that our country will fight wars it does not need to fight. A free press decreases the probability of government corruption and business corruption. UNITED STATES PATENT AND TRADEMARK OFFICE The Forbes ASAP Summer 2002 issue discusses the United States Patent and Trademark Office in great detail. I highly recommend that people who want to increase economic growth and innovation in the country read the article. Congress should increase the yearly budget of the United States Patent and Trademark Office to at least $5 billion. The United States Patent and Trademark Office should have at least 8000 examiners. The United States Patent and Trademark Office should have at least 2000 examiners working in the section dealing with biotech, organic chemistry, and pharmaceuticals. The United States Patent and Trademark Office should have a website that is free to use by anyone in the world who has internet access that will have all the patents in its collections. Individuals and businesses should not have to pay more than a $50 filing fee for patents. Congress should contribute at least one billion dollars a year to a fund that will help individuals and small businesses with invention and the obtaining of patents. The more patent examiners our country has the faster patents for drugs will probably take place and the faster that useful drugs will be on the market. The more patent examiners our country has the better able individuals and small businesses to compete against large businesses for patents. I believe innovation and economic growth will increase if the recommendations in this section are adopted. I consider this section to be one of the most important sections on my website. I believe the proposals will speed up the creation of treatments that will help people deal with genetic diseases and other types of diseases. These proposals may help to increase human lifespans and decrease the number of ailments that people have as they age. REGULATION OF BUSINESSES Article One of the United States Constitution gives Congress the power to regulate commerce. I believe that when corporate power is too centralized innovation is lessened and the quality of products and services decreases. I want Congress to break Microsoft and many other Fortune 500 companies into smaller companies. I want Congress to break up several of our large defense companies. I believe our national security is harmed when only a few companies make defense products. I want defense procurement to be improved significantly so that more companies will want to make defense products. I want Microsoft to be broken up into four companies. Two companies should sell operating systems. Two companies should sell software. I want each of the Regional Bell Operating Companies to be broken up into two or more companies. I want each of our large cable companies to be broken up into two of more cable companies. I want Congress to break up many of our large farm corporations. I want Congress to break up many of our large banks so that consumers will probably have better choices in checking and credit cards as well as investments. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT I want the Department of Housing and Urban Development to fund projects similar to the ones that Habitat for Humanity does. I believe sweat equity is a great idea in many cases. I think the reason many housing projects are a blemish on many cities because many people have not had much of an ownership stake in them. I want the Department of Housing and Urban Development to work better with localities and states to increase low income housing and moderate income housing. I want the amount of paperwork the Department of Housing and Urban Development requires to be filled out decreases significantly. I many many housing projects to be owned by the residents who live in them. I want many housing projects to have small schools and libraries in them which will have computers and high speed internet access. DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS The Department of Veterans Affairs should work with the Department of Defense and other government agencies to improve the mental health and physical health of our soldiers and Veterans. The Department of Veterans Affairs should fund more mental health clinics and physical health clinics for Veterans. The Department of Veterans Affairs should work with the best hospital administrators in our country to improve the care provided by our Veterans Hospitals. ADVICE FOR BANKS I believe the profits of many banks will increase if they adopt the following proposals. Have many of your branches be open from 8 am to 8pm seven days a week. Have branches that are open in supermarkets that which are open 24 hours a day staffed the entire 24 hours. Have many comfortable chairs in many of your branches with many magazines and books dealing with business and finance. Have many computers connected to several internet sites. Have television sets tuned into business and investment programs. Allow people to spend as much times as they want reading information and using computers in the banks. The more time people spend learning about investments the more likely they are to deposit money in your banks, buy mutual funds from your banks, and buy stocks in your banks. Banks should allow people to buy individual shares of stock. Banks should not charge bounced check fees greater than $10 per bounced check. THIRD LETTER DEALING WITH IRAQ September 6, 2002 This is the letter I e-mailed to the writer that is posted after this letter. Dear Writer: Thanks for writing me back. Please pass on the entire e-mails to other people. I have the same standards for Israel and other countries the United States of America supports that I do for countries the United States of America does not support. Like I said. A country has a right to defend itself. If you think it is better to send 100,000 plus troops into a country when assasination will do the trick, you need to realize you are mistaken. If a country never defends itself, it will keep getting attacked. I agree with you that violence when it is not necessary is stupid. As I said in my letter I believe the best way to end terrorism is for the United States of America to have the same standards for all countries. Human rights and fair elections or Human rights and/or fair elections missing Right now, I think Israel too often falls into the second category and if Israel does not treat Palestinians better the United States of America will have to rethink trading with Israel and selling Israel military hardware. I agree with you about the fact that the United States of America should not have supported dictators and that United States of America should not be supporting dictators now. I never said we should always be violent. The fact of the matter is if a country is never violent it is not likely to continue to exist. I realize Arafat was elected. I said there would have been peace if he had not been involved. Israel has been able to use him as an excuse for keeping a Palestinian state from existing. When international law makes sense, I support. When it does not, I do not. I support US laws when they make sense. I do not support US laws when they do not. I realize the United States of America infringes on human rights and I am trying to decrease this by discussing the Bill of Rights. I say on my website that citizens of the United States of America who are called enemy combatants are protected by Amendment Six of the United States Constitution. You need to do more research on my website before you talk to other people. Ken RESPONSE FROM WRITER TO MY SECOND LETTER "Dear Kenneth: Your thoughts are truly frightening. I will not be voting for you and I will be letting others know your views so they don't vote for you either. If the U.S. has a right to defend itself through assasination so do does any other country around the world. You stated: "If other countries assasinated our leaders when it was not appropriate, I think we should do whatever is necessary to make them pay for it." Who should decide what is appropriate? If you make them pay for it they will make us pay for it ... The cycle will never end. No matter how powerful a military is it can not stop terrorism. You stated "If we had retaliated the way that we should have, September 11 would probably not have happened." What kind of logic is this? What makes you think the hijackers of Sept. 11 would have changed their mind had the US retaliated for the events you listed? If anything the hijackers would have had even more support if the US had retaliated and killed even more innocent people than they have already killed in the last 15 years." "I know 3 people that died on Sept. 11 including my UNH professor and neighbor for years. This does not give the USA a right to kill innocent people overseas nor will such action ever prevent any terror attacks in the future. Israel has been retaliating for years ... it has not stopped terrorism one bit .... nor will it ever stop terrorism unless they kill every living Palestinian on the planet. On the other hand terrorism in Northern Ireland has for the most part stopped .... it did not stop because the British "retaliated" and made the Irish "pay" did it? Retaliating only kills innocent people just like it did in Afghanistan. The US military killed more innocent people in Afghanistan than were killed on Sept. 11. The number is close to 4000 documented killed by 'collateral damage' (ie. murdered). Those associated with the hijackers escaped or blended in with society. Terrorism can not be stopped with such methods. There is not one example where this has ever worked." "You stated "I do not care about international law when international law is idiotic." This is truly a profound statement ... I am sure the Nazis didn't care international law either. Why not add other leaders to this list like the people responsible for killing 2,000,000 Vietnamese or US supported dictators like Pinochet or Somoza? I would prefer that nuclear weapons be banned in both Israel and Iraq.... I do not have double standards. Should we assasinate the leaders of India and Pakistan next because they also have nuclear weapons? How about Russia, China, and France too? The USA is the only in the world to ever nuclear weapons so we are in no position to dictate to the world who or who should not have nuclear weapons as we continue to expand are nuclear weapons programs. Israel is a prime example. Check out Amnesty International's website for proof. The US also supports dictatorships and has done so for years. You claim to care about fair elections and yet you feel Arafat should have resigned even though he is the only leader in the Arab world that was actually elected by a huge margin with Western observers. This shows that you only care about elections if someone Israel or the USA approves of is elected. Maybe Israel should choose some sort of puppet leader for the Palestinians that will be more willing to ignore UN resolutions and international law just like you. If you really cared about human rights and democracy you would apply the same principles to Israel and other US supported dictators." ANOTHER LETTER DEALING WITH IRAQ The following is the response I wrote to a person who wrote me after I wrote the person after the person wrote me. Dear Writer: (I included the persons name in the letter.) There is no double standard. The United States of America has a right to defend itself by any means necessary including assasination. If other countries assasinated our leaders when it was not appropriate, I think we should do whatever is necessary to make them pay for it. I realize the United States of America has assasinated leaders it should not have. I think assasination should not be taken lightly by the United States of America or any other country. After our Marines were murdered in Lebanon, the United States of America did not retaliate the way that it should have. After Pan Am 103 was blown uo over Lockerbie Scotland, we did not retaliate the way that we should have, September 11 would probably not have happened. My mother had planned on leaving for Irael from Boston on September 12. If she had picked September 11, she could have been one of the people who died. A professor I knew from UNH died on one of the planes that hit the World Trade Towers. I do not care about international law when international law is is idiotic. I care about the United States Constitution and the survival of the United States of America. Too often people like Hitler and Stalin are allowed to live and kill millions of people. Too often the world has allowed evil men to kill millions. The Holocaust happened because Europe tried to pacify Hitler and the United States of America was isolationist when it should not have been. Would you prefer that Saddam be assasinated or Saddam having nuclear weapons that he could launch on the United States of America. I am not a pacifist. I am a man who realizes that the best wars are those you win without fighting. I realize sometimes you have to fight and you have to be prepared to fight. I am a student of The Art of War by Sun Tzu translated by General Samuel B. Griffith and I recommend you read it before commenting again on why World War 2 and the Holocaust happened. Both World War 1 and World War 2 would probably have not been fought if the United States of America had been prepared for War. I realize you care about the Iraqi people and I hope someday the United States of America will have very good relations with them. I do not think the United Nations cares about international law now. I think one of the main things the United Nations cares about is keeping dictatorships that infringe on human rights in power. (I spell United wrong.) Israel has a right to defend itself. I do not think Israel's policies dealing with Palestinians make any sense. (I said makes.) I also think the reason why a Palestinian State does not exist in the Middle East now is because of Arafat. If he had resigned from power years ago, I think a Palestinian State would exist. I believe the United States of America should have two sets of standards. Care about countries that have fair elections and human rights. Trade with these countries. Countries that do not care about fair elections and/or human rights. I do not care if we trade with these countries. Too often the United States of America has supported countries like Saudi Arabia that does not have fair elections and human rights. Israel is an ally of the United States of America. I hope Israel will stay an ally of the United States of America. I hope that all countries in the Middle East will care about fair elections and human rights. I hope all countries in the Middle East will be allies of the United States of America. Israel is the way it is now and millions of Jews died during the Holocaust because Britain and France did not keep their word to create a Jewish state and an Arab Palestine immediately after World War 1. I realize millions of non jews died during the Holocaust. Israel is a sovereign country and has a right to defend itself by any means necessary like any other country. Israel is about the size of New Hampshire and it is surrounded by countries that are led by people that hate Israel. This is the real world and not the fantasy land that many countries in the United Nations support. (After people I should have said who.) I hope you will pass on the info in this e-mail to others even if you decide not to vote for me. If you want to tell others not to vote for me, be my guest. One of the best ways to improve relations in the Middle East is to elect me President of the United States of America because I want to use the power of the Presidency to increase the likelihood that Muslims, Jews, Christians, and others will live in peace in the Middle East, have fair elections, have human rights, and significant trade. I do not care what religion a person has. I do not care what country a person comes from. I do not have double standards. Friends are treated like friends. Enemies are treated like enemies. The letter on Part Four of my Political Platform is my response to this letter. "Thanks for your quick and personalized response. This is more than I can say for some of the candidates you are running against and it represents a clear indication of your integrity and respect for democracy. I disagree with your unilateral action of assination by the United States. The world would be a much safer place if countries respected the rule of international law and the process of the United Nations. What if other countries decided to assinate our leaders? Any hope of reducing terrorism can only occur once the United States starts respecting international law and the process of the United Nations. The theory of "Might makes Right' is what led to World War 2 and the holocaust and is not somthing the US should be using as foreign policy." "Your response has prompted me to ask a second question to clarify your position against allies such as Israel. I am deeply concerned that as a candidate you don't feel Israel has any need to respect both international law and UN resolutions. If your solution to Iraq is to assasinate their leaders its quite conceivable that others in the Arab world will feel its is perfectly acceptable to assasinate Ariel Sharon. What would that accomplish?" "As you probably know Israel is also in violation of UN resolutions with the occupation of the West bank and Gaza and they are in violation of international law by building and expanding settlements in occupied terroritories. Even during the Clinton years from 1993 to 2000 the population of Israeli settlements doubled. This makes the US look like it has a double standard in enforcing international law and the process of the United Nations with Iraq and not Israel. This double standard seems to be practiced by both Democrats and Republicans and is not in step with world opinion including all of our allies in Europe. UN resolutions state Palestine should exist in the West bank and Gaza not in Jordan as you suggested in your response. What is your position regarding this double standard and how will your voting record if elected be reflected in regards to enforcing the rule of law and UN resolutions to all nations including allies such as Israel."
