KEN STREMSKY DISCUSSES WHY DEMOCRATS DID BADLY IN 2002



      I have some negative information about me on this page because I believe 
      voters have a right to know before primary election day some of a 
      candidate's faults and ethical lapses in judgement.

      WHY THE DEMOCRATS DID BADLY IN 2002.

      One.

      Popular war time President of the United States of America.

      Two.

      The Democrats did not have a national agenda that made any sense.

      Three.

      Monumental stupidity.

      A.

      Allowing Torricelli to run in the general election in New Jersey and then 
      pulling him out as late as they did.

      B.

      Turning Senator Paul Wellstone's funeral into a campaign event.

      C.

      Caring more about Florida than they did Georgia.  The probability that the 
      Democrats would win Florida was extremely slim because Governor Bush and 
      the brother of President Bush.

      D.

      Not encouraging people to vote.

      SOME LESSONS FROM SHORT STORIES

      Some of the short stories on this page I learned about more than 15 years 
      ago.  The short stories on this page are versions of those stories.

      Story Number One

      A man falls of a boat.

      A person on the boat throws the man a rope with a life preserver attached. 
       The man does not take it because he says he is waiting for God to save 
      him.

      Another person throws the man an inflatable raft.  The man does not use it 
      because he says he is waiting for God to save him.

      Several people in a small boat go to the man and tell him to get on.  The 
      man says no because he says he wants God to save him.

      A helicopter comes to rescue the man and he refuses the help because he 
      says he wants God to save him.

      The man drowns and goes to Heaven.

      The man asks God why God did not save him.

      God says that God had the rescuers offer the man help and the man drowned 
      because the man refused the help.

      Story Number Two

      A walrus is the king of a mighty kingdom.  The walrus has many fine 
      qualities and one horrendous weakness.  Whenever the king walrus is told 
      bad news, the walrus yells at the messenger.

      The walrus loses his kingdom after several years in power because the 
      walrus was not told bad news the walrus needed to be told.

      Story Number Three.

      Hearing and listening are two very different things.

      Many people hear and few people are willing to listen.

      Many people only hear what they are willing to hear and are not willing to 
      listen to opposing views.

      Many people are not willing to listen to critics because they do not want 
      to question their foundations.

      Many people only want to hear good things told about their heroes and are 
      unwilling to listen to people who talk about the faults of their heroes.

      Intelligence failures often happen because people in power are not willing 
      to listen their intelligence services when they tell the power in power 
      they are basing their decisions on faulty information.

      Many disasters take place because people in power often want plausible 
      deniability.
