 David Steel (1825-1908) 
David Steel was born in Auchterarder, Scotland in May of 1825, the fourth of the ten children of William Steel, a master slater, and Margaret Young. A baker by trade, David served his apprenticeship in Auchterarder before leaving the town for England. He married Margaret Ryan in December of 1861 in London. David and Margaret had four daughters-Mary, Margaret, Catherine, and Ellen Steel born in Kensington, London. David Steel died in Colne, Lancashire in 1908. With special thanks to Margaret Purcell.
