July 3rd - G.O.R.

Ride Report
Headed off from home about 7.45 with the temperature hanging around 3 deg, Simon left a shit load earlier, when it was a shitload colder. We all (Rob, Mario, Simon) met up at the Shell in Laverton at 9.30 and
headed down to the GOR.

Fog / haze lifted around Geelong to a clear blue sky and, at last, a bit of warmth. Hit the GOR and wound it up a knotch or two, traffic was pretty good seeing it is the school holidays. Except for a couple of buses that kept wanting to wander over and take us out, as we were passing them.

The trip down was a bit slower, as the sun hadn't hit a lot of the road and it was a bit wet in spots still. Stopped off at Apollo bay for lunch and a chat, then headed down towards the twelve apposals. The Ottways were interesting, wet as hell and a lovely inviting green coating on the
road.

The return trip was a bit quicker, as the sun had hit more of the road and it was a little more predictable. I think we all hit a couple of corners a little hot, to find some nice wet pacthes mid corner. Grit the teeth, close the eyes, a little brake and through we went. I peeled off just past Torquey and headed off towards the fairy from Queencliff to Sorrento.

By this stage my wrists were rooted, hands cramped, trying to pull in the clutch was interesting. Wore jeans under my leathers for the last time, they absoloutly wrecked my knee's. Not sure I think they twisted and made my leathers too tight, and they kept cramping up. Just made the boat with 5 mins to spare.

I was heading down towards Queenscliff and noticed a shit load of cars heading the opposite direction. Tucked in and opened it up, wasn't missing the boat this time. Got home about 6.45pm absoloutely knackered and ready for a nap. A couple of beers on the couch and lights out about 9.30.

Round trip was 600 + kms for me, prob about 700 - 800 kms for Simon. AS i said what a day, cant wait for the next one. Think we may head north and make it a little easier for Simon though How keen is he!!
