Senior Book Report Project Due: No later than June 7.
All book reports need to have a cover page which includes the following:
Your name, date, period
Title and author of book
Number of pages
Pick ONE of the following to complete on the book you registered with me.
Advertising Campaign. You are an advertising executive for your book. You must create an advertising campaign to sell this book to the public. Your campaign must include:
a book jacket a large poster (20X25 or larger)
a radio (Cassette or CD) or video ad (VHS)
a newspaper or magazine ad
Observe the media and try to use some of the same advertising tactics. Your artwork must be your own. You may NOT copy the pictures on the book jacket, use photocopies, internet, or other images sources.
Magazine.
|Create a magazine about your book. Your magazine should include:
A magazine/newspaper style book review (your words, not another critic's).
Advertisements for two different products used in your book. -»' f< ;
A twenty-question quiz about your book for your readers with a scoring guide and answers. (Check out magazines: what type of questions do they ask?)
Your artwork must be your own. You may NOT copy the pictures on the book jacket, use photocopies, Internet, or other image sources.
Book Analysis. Analyze your book using techniques you've learned. You will need to provide:
A written character analysis and character analysis chart (see me for copies) or each of the major characters. For each character, answer the following: Who is he/she? What is he/she like? What is his/her motives in the book? Why does he/she act the way he/she does?
Summarize and analyze the plot. Which events are the most important? How do they advance the plot? How would the story be different without key events?
Draw a timeline of the plot and events.
Write an analysis of five literary devices used in the book. Make sure you copy the line or paragraph in which the literary device occurs before you explain it. Include the page number. Be sure to explain how the literary device works!
Author Report. Research the author of your book using the Internet, the library, or other resource.
Compose a two-page (Times New Roman, size 12, double spaced) biography of his/her life. The biography must be in your own words!!!
Draw a plicate of your author. Your artwork must be your own. You may NOT copy the pictures on the book jacket, use photocopies, Internet, or other image sources.
How is the book similar to the author's life? How did the author get the idea for this book? What other books has the author written? Have you read any of them? Does knowing more about the author's life help you understand the book? Explain your answer. Be thorough in this sectionif I am not convinced you read the book, your score on the whole report will reflect it. Be sure to pick an author who is somewhat famous for this project so you can find plenty of information.
You must document your information using MLA format. You will lose 25 points if you do not do this step.
